    I’m not wicked in real life – Actress Lola Idije

    Veteran actress Toyin Afolayan popularly known as Lola Idije has debunked the misconception that her on-screen persona reflects her real-life personality.

    Idije, often being cast as a harsh mother-in-law in Yoruba films, emphasised that her real-life demeanor is different from the roles she portrays.

    In an interview with Ayo Adesanya, Lola said her strong performances are rooted in her faith in God and she leads a modest lifestyle, abstaining from substances like alcohol and cigarettes.

    She credited her late ‘brother’, Adeyemi Afolayan (Ade Love), a Nollywood pioneer, for influencing her disciplined approach to acting.

    Her big break came in 1995 when she starred as Madam Adisa in the film Deadly Affair.

    Over the years, she has not only become a household name but also the originator of popular catchphrases such as “Soro Soke Werey” and “Pele My Dear,” which have gained traction on social media.Online movie streaming services.

    On Wednesday, February 19, 2025, Nollywood actress and producer, Biola Adebayo hosted family, friends and colleagues to a befitting prayer session and reception in honour of her late mother, Mrs Mojisola Nurat Adebayo, who passed away a week ago.

    The event was held at the Devine Hall, situated inside Ikeja, had Islamic clergy declaring the event open with prayers before guests were treated to fine dishes and drinks.

    The prayer session had the Adebayo family and friends gathered to pray for the repose of the late Mrs Nurat Adebayo with the children led by Biola in attendance.

    After the prayer session, which saw the actress dressed in white, Biola proceeded to the reception which had dignitaries from all walks of life in attendance.

    Dressed in a purple attire, Biola couldn’t help but dance to the tunes of the band, who sang her praises to high heavens.

    Many of her colleagues, who attended the event include Odunlade Adekola, Regina Chukwu, Tawa Ajisefini, Lola Afolayan aka Lola Idije, Seun Oloketuyi and a host of others.

    Veteran actress Lola Idije has finally addressed rumors surrounding her junior colleague, Biodun Okeowo, allegedly snatching her daughter’s husband.

    Lola, on Instagram set the record straight, stating that Biodun did not snatch her daughter’s partner. 

    She recalled that she attended Biodun’s wedding, which wouldn’t have been possible if the rumors were true.

    Lola further clarified that the first time she spoke to Biodun’s husband was when Biodun introduced him to her on a phone call, and none of her daughters know him personally.

    Her statement corroborates Biodun’s earlier denial, where she revealed her husband doesn’t know any of Lola’s daughters and urged colleague Tosin to clarify the false information.

    “I want to address the story going around since yesterday and to clear the air. The first time I ever spoke to Omoborty’s husband was when she introduced him to me on a phone call. I did not know him before that. None of my daughters know him personally. Biodun, aka Omoborty, did not snatch my daughter’s boyfriend. I attended the wedding. There is no way she would do that and I will still attend the wedding. Thank you and I hope this clarifies everything,” she said.
