  • Suntory unveils N200m Lucozade airtime promo

    As part of efforts to reward customer loyalty, Suntory Beverage and Food Nigeria Limited (SBFN), makers of Lucozade branded juice has earmarked N200million worth of instant airtime for the benefit of old and prospective customers in the next 12 months.

    Unveiling the promo tagged: ‘Lucozade Under-the-Cap Airtime National Promotion,’ the third in the series since it began in 2016, the Managing Director, SBFN, Mr. Chinedum Okereke said, it is aimed at the categories of consumers described as daily strivers.

    “The promotion is an avenue for us to attain nationwide reach as far as rewarding our consumers is concerned, and the modality of the promotion gives us a great opportunity to target millions of consumers,” he said.

    Expatiating, the Marketing Director, Mrs Rosemary Akpo, said “The Airtime promotion is very important to us at SBFN as it gives us an avenue to connect with our target audience on a large scale. The uniqueness of this promotion lies in the fact that every participant who sends in a valid code, stands a chance to win instant airtime, regardless of geographical location or mobile network.”

    While explaining the modus operandi of the promo, she said, the sms is free and cuts across all networks.

    Explaining the objective of the promotion, the Head of Lucozade Brands and Innovation, Mrs Chika Adibo said, “The Lucozade Airtime promo is our way of rewarding our esteemed consumers for their loyalty and patronage over the years, and also restate our commitment to helping people feel energised and be the best version of themselves all day. We also encourage new consumers to come on board via this platform.”

    Officials present at the launch include National Lottery Regulatory Commission (NLRC), Lagos State Lottery Board, Consumer Protection Council and the Nigerian Communications Commission.

    The Lucozade Airtime Promotion, which is open to users on all mobile networks and provides an opportunity for consumers to instantly recharge their energy and their phones.

    Besides, it is specifically designed to reward new and existing consumers who purchase Lucozade Boost or Lucozade Sport Orange PET with a yellow cover, consumers are required to look under the cover and text the code to 20966 for free.

     

  • Winners emerge in Ribena/Lucozade’s ‘Back to School’

    The first set of winners have emerged in the 2017 edition of Ribena/Lucozade’s “Back to School” promotion, exciting shoppers of the products.

    Five lucky winners of N100, 000 scholarship were given their winnings  at the head office of Suntory Beverage and Food Nigeria, Lagos, in the presence of regulatory officials of lottery promos.

    Suntory Beverage and Food Nigeria Managing Director, Chinedum Okereke, said the promo was designed to help children return to school and alleviate the burden of school fees payment by parents in these challenging times.

    Okereke said:“The promo embodies Ribena’s motto of Goodness made fun, as we strive to make the high-pressure, back-to-school period more fun for children and parents.

  • ‘No benzoic acid in Lucozade’

    Suntory Beverage & Food Nigeria Limited manufacturers of Lucozade have assured its consumers that its range of Lucozade drinks do not contain benzoic acid and as such are safe and healthy for human consumption.

    The company made this clarification stating that it becomes necessary after some media reports claimed that benzoic acid has been detected in Lucozade.

    In the media statement from the management, the company said that all its brands are produced in line with local and international standards and it will not compromise quality or endanger the lives of Nigerians.

    “Our attention has been drawn to media reports on an investigation commissioned by the Consumer Protection Commission (CPC) to analyse the levels of benzoic acid contained in soft drinks produced in Nigeria in which our brand Lucozade was mentione.

    “Suntory Beverage & Food Nigeria Limited will like to state categorically that Lucozade does NOT contain benzoic acid and our products are processed and manufactured under the best quality standard that meets both local regulations and global guidelines” the statement said.

    It was further stated that “our local supervisory agencies including NAFDAC and SON routinely validate our processes and standards to ensure the safety of our products for consumer benefits.”

    In view of this clarification, the company reassured its consumers of its commitment towards producing brands that Nigerians can trust at all times.

    “Lucozade is a drink of heritage that has energised Nigerians for over four decades. As a company, the safety of our consumers is paramount to us and we will do everything possible to protect the trust they have vested in us to deliver world class products,” the statement concluded.

    Loyalists of Lucozade energy drink can now win recharge cards worth N200 million in its 2017 promo being sponsored by Suntory Beverages and Foods Nigeria Limited.

    The promo, first held last year, gave out N150milion in airtime.

    At the promo launch in Lagos, yesterday, the promoters of the promo said the idea behind the initiative is to use promotion to empower Nigerians.

    The Marketing Director of the firm, Mrs.Rosemary Akpo, said: ‘‘It is unfortunate that many Nigerian consumers have lost interest in promotions because only a few and an insignificant number of the populace benefit.”

    She said the promo was specifically designed to reward new and existing consumers who purchase Lucozade Boost 500ML or 330ML or Lucozade Sport Orange PET with a yellow cover.

    Explaining the objective of the promo, the Marketing Manager, Lucozade, Yusuf Murtala said the Lucozade Airtime promo is the company’s way of thanking its esteemed consumers for their loyalty and patronage over the past years.

    It presents the firm an opportunity to restate its commitment of  helping people feel refreshed and energised.

    The promo, which commenced on Monday, will run till the end of May 2017. The promotion is open to all network users by simply looking under the cover and texting the printed code to 20966.

    Suntory enters Nigeria beverage market in style

    Suntory Beverage & Food Nigeria has announced its decision to enlarge its footprint into the Nigerian food and beverage market. The new owners of the globally popular beverage brands, Lucozade and Ribena promised to sell affordable products to Nigerians of different classes.

    According to the Managing Director, Suntory Beverage & Food Nigeria, Chinedum Okereke, very soon, different classes of Nigerians will be able to get Ribena and Lucozade products at affordable prices ranging from N50 to N200. His words: “Don’t be surprised if you later find a Suntory product at the rate of N25. We want everybody to be able to afford our.”

    This development follows the recent completion of the divestment of the drinks bottling and distribution business between GSK Consumer Nigeria Plc and Japanese global beverage company, Suntory Beverage & Food, which ranks third after Coca-Cola.

    Speaking at a press conference held in Lagos to officially announce the Company’s new acquisition, Okereke, described Suntory’s investment in Nigeria as a development that will yield many positive results.

    “This is a clear demonstration of Suntory’s confidence in the Nigerian economy. The company relies on the strong connection between the Nigerian consumers and its Lucozade and Ribena brands and is especially confident of the nation’s immense potential for economic growth and the impressive productivity level of its people.     Addressing Journalists on Tuesday, Okereke observed that although many people are complaining of recession in the country, “Suntory sees great opportunities in the crisis. Nigeria remains a huge market that cannot be ignored with the strong economic indications. We decided to seize the opportunity to backwards integrate.”

    He stressed that the company has been in Nigeria for over 30years, manufacturing from Agbara industrial area of Ogun State. He, however, noted that the company usually import some of its raw materials for production, but has put structures in place which now allows it access to raw materials within Nigeria.

    Okereke stated that Suntory now has local manufacturers that have been trained and empowered to produce raw materials for production. According to him, the global management board plans to have a wholly Suntory Nigeria company to ensure local participation and be able to connect with the people.

    GSK seeks shareholders approval to sell Lucozade, Ribena

    The board of directors of GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Nigeria (GSK Nigeria) Plc has called an extraordinary general meeting of shareholders to seek approval for the disposal of the company’s drinks business to the Japanese group, Suntory Beverage and Food Limited (SBF).

    SBF, a leading soft drinks company with total sales of £6.6 billion, is seeking to buy over GSK Nigeria’s drinks business, which included the two iconic brands-Lucozade and Ribena, through its Nigerian subsidiary Suntory Beverage & Food Nigeria Limited.

    The general meeting, slated for July 4, was sequel to receipt of a binding offer from Suntory Beverage & Food Nigeria Limited by the board of GSK Nigeria.

    According to a regulatory filing submitted yesterday at the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE), shareholders would be requested to approve the proposed sale of the company’s business of  manufacturing, bottling, marketing, distributing and selling of the Ribena and Lucozade brands in Nigeria and all assets attached to or deployed in connection with the business to Suntory Beverage & Food Nigeria Limited.
