  • NNPC Staffs arrested over N16m Robbery Incident

     

    Police in Kano State  on Monday arrested three staff of Nigerian National Petroleum Cooperation, NNPC mega station Hotoro in Kano over alleged involvement in robbery incident which led to the snatching of N16 million belonging the NNPC mega station.

    According to the Kano Police Command’s spokesman, SP Magaji Musa Majiya said the three NNPC staff, including a cashier, and two supervisors have since been apprehended in connection with the robbery incident.

    According to him, investigations have since commenced in order to arrest their accomplice.

    “The incident happened around 8 am when the staff were conveying the money to one of the commercial banks in the area when the suspected armed robbers were said to have attacked the vehicle conveying the money and snatched one of the sacks containing about N16 million,” said an eyewitness.

    The eyewitness added that there was N26 million in the two sacks when the incident happened and the robbers took away one of the sacks containing the money.

    The hoodlums were said to have shot sporadically in the air to scare people away before fleeing the area.

    The Kano State Police Command, on Wednesday, paraded 16 suspected criminals for various offences, ranging from armed robbery to kidnapping.

    While parading the suspects in Kano, the Spokesman of the Police Command, DSP Magaji Musa Majiya, said syndicate of armed robbers, who rob inhabitants of Kurna Asabe, Tudun Bujuwa, Tudun Fulani and its surrounding is led by Auwalu Isa of Tudun Fulani quarters.

    According to him, Isa, who is a jail bird was just released from prison custody for armed robbery after having served four years jail term, he now led other gang, comprising Nasiru  Yayaha of Kurna Asabe quarters, who is another jail bird and was released from prison after serving eight month jail term for a crime.

    Another armed robbery suspects, Ukasha Ibrahim, Shehu Rabiu, Samshudeen Abdullah, Abubakar Abdullahi, Bashir Isa, among others were arrested at various flash points for attacking innocent citizens and dispossessing them of their belongings, worth millions of naira.

    Magaji said they were also able to burst kidnappers syndicate, led by Jabir Usman Sule and Bashir Aminu of Cherinchi Gabas Dorayi quarters in the metropolis were arrested for criminally conspiring and kidnapping a four-year old victim by dropping a note for a ransom of N2 million  from his father or else they would kill the boy.

    However, based on coordinated efforts of our detectives led to the rescue of the victim safely, without paying any ransom, while the two suspects were arrested.

    He said during interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crime in addition to two other kidnappings of some children in their neighborhood.

    So far, according to him, there rescue victims were identified and investigation is in progress, while the suspect would soon be arraigned in court.

    Kano Council Polls: Police Deploys 12,000 Personnel.

    Police in Kano yesterday announced the deployment of 12,000 Police men and other security personnel for the Saturday local government election in the state.

    According to a statement issued by the command’s spokesman DSP Magaji Musa Majiya said that the election will be manned by the security personnel in order to forestall  any possible break down of law and order.

    Majiya explained there will be restriction of vehicular movement which will commence between 6am and 4pm on the election day, adding that no tricycles  or motorcycles will be allowed to operate within the stipulated time.

    “Eligible voters can go out and cast their votes but will not be allowed on any vehicle, motorcycle or, and tricycle.

    “No state government security agencies, such as hisbah, KAROTA vigilante, boyscout, Man’O’ war will be allowed to dress in uniform to monitor the election.

    Magaji also explained that no person will be allowed to carry any bag,  boxes or suspicious item close to any pulling station and collation center.

    He further hinted that carrying dangerous weapon on the election day adding that a joint operations centers for all security agencies have been put in place to monitor the conduct of the election.

    Hunters in trouble for killing suspected kidnappers

    The Kano State Police Command are now looking for some yet to be identified hunters for allegedly killed four suspected kidnappers in Doguwa local government area the state.

    The unidentified hunters, in twist of events appeared to have applied jungle justice by killing four men who were accused of kidnapping.

    The command’s spokesman, Magaji Musa Majiya, who confirmed the killing to journalists on Thursday, said the incident occurred on January 4.

    According to him, the unknown hunters crossed into Doguwa from Lere local government area of Kaduna State, in search of the kidnappers.

    Majiya, however, said police patrol had been intensified in Doguwa and villages around the area with a view to arresting the rampaging hunters.

    Also, a resident, who preferred anonymity, said the hunters also killed one Malam Alhassan Mai Hali for allegedly facilitating the bail of the suspected kidnappers.

    Police recover two rifles in Kano

    Two rifles were recovered in a dustbin yesterday by the police in Kano State. The recovery followed a tip-off by the public.

    Police spokesman Magaji Musa Majiya thanked the public for the information and cooperation.

    “The command is particularly happy with the information, which led to the recovery of two rifles found in a dustbin,” he said.
