    Makinde’s wife sensitises residents on vaccination against measles, rubella

    Wife of Oyo Governor, Mrs Tamunominini Makinde has sensitised residents on vaccination against measles and rubella diseases in Ibadan.

    Mrs Makinde, who led a campaign work on vaccination against measles and rubella at Agodi government Secretariat, emphasised that no child in Oyo State should die from the preventable disease.

    She urged parents, teachers, religious leaders, and traditional ruler to collaborate for fight against the disease.

    She said: “Rubella, in particular, is dangerous for pregnant women. It can cause miscarriages, stillbirths, and lifelong disabilities in babies. We must not ignore this.”

    “This programme is more than a ceremonial flag-off, it is a call to action for all residents of Oyo State. Vaccines are safe. Vaccines save lives. We cannot afford to be careless with the health of our children.

    “This campaign is not just about awareness. It’s about commitment. It’s about the future of our children.”

    She also praised efforts of Primary Health Care (PHC) workers, community mobilisers and civil society partners for their dedication to grassroots engagement, particularly in visiting schools and rural communities.

    According to her: “The programme is supported by the the wife of the President, Senator Remi Tinubu who is championing a broader vision to reduce child mortality to zero through timely interventions.

    “This is about giving every child in Oyo State a fair chance at life. We are here to create awareness, but more importantly, we are here to change outcomes. Let’s join hands and make it happen.”

    Commissioner for Health, Dr. Oluwaserimi Ajetunmobi said the initiative was part of commitment of the state government towards survival of children across the state.

    She lamented that despite measles and rubella being a vaccine preventable diseases, they have claimed many children across the state 

    While describing launching of the vaccine as a call to all stakeholders, the Commissioner urged them to rally behind the life saving intervention.

    Makinde’s wife lifts Oyo women with food stuff, cash

    Wife of Oyo Governor, Mrs Tamunominini Makinde has given women across the State food items and cash to celebrate Christmas and New Year.

    The initiative aimed at alleviating financial burden many families face during the festive season was well-received by the beneficiaries, who expressed gratitude. 

    The event at the Presidential Lodge of the Oyo State Government House attracted hundreds of women across the 33 local government areas.

    Mrs. Makinde emphasized importance of supporting one another, especially during challenging times, adding that the initiative was part of her effort to uplift women in the State. 

    Aside food stuff, cash gifts were also given to women to help them meet other pressing needs. 

    Some of the beneficiaries commended Mrs. Makinde for dedication to the welfare of women in the State, noting that such initiatives not only provided immediate relief for them but also inspire hope and resilience among the people.

    Wife of Oyo Governor Mrs. Tamunominini Makinde has hosted a one-day media retreat with journalists covering her office aimed at fostering collaboration, effective communication, and unbiased reporting.

    The event at Fashola Farm settlement, Oyo/Iseyin road brought together journalists from various media outlets who cover the Governor’s wife’s activities.

    Mrs Makinde emphasised importance of a good working relationship between her office and the media, adding that effective communication was crucial in achieving her goals and objectives.

    The media retreat featured presentations and discussions on various topics, including effective reporting, media ethics, and collaboration.

    Journalists were encouraged to ask questions and share their experiences covering the governor’s wife’s activities.

    The journalists commended Engr. Makinde for her openness and willingness to engage with the media.

    The retreat ended with a resolution to work together to achieve effective and unbiased reporting.

    Makinde thanked the journalists for their cooperation and promised to continue engaging with them.

    The media retreat is expected to strengthen the relationship between the governor’s wife’s office and the media, leading to more effective and accurate reporting.

    The Head of Service (HoS) in the state, Mrs Olubunmi Oni, commended the media team for effectively reporting activities of the governor’s wife and portraying her image positively.

    She however charged the media team to always do their best in projecting image of the wife of the governor, saying by doing that, the media team are also contributing their quota towards the progress and development of the state.

    Makinde’s wife trains, empowers tailors in Oyo

    The wife of the Oyo state governor, Mrs. Tamunominini Makinde, has trained and empowered tailors across the state, to enhance their skills and boost their businesses.  

    The two-and-a-half-week empowerment training programme was an initiative of the governor’s wife under the Omituntun for Life Foundation.

    Speaking at the closing ceremony of the tailoring training and empowerment programme, Mrs. Makinde emphasised the importance of empowering women and youths in the state, particularly in the informal sector.

    She noted that the tailoring industry has immense potential for growth and employment generation, hence the need to support its development.

    She said: “One of my core visions of what I want to do in the state has come to the limelight today, I believe educating women is educating the nation.

    “Your role in the community is invaluable, the skills you have acquired will help you to make significant contributions to your job, keep learning and keep being a better version of yourself.”

    Under the programme, many tailors were selected across the state to benefit from training, mentorship, and financial support.

    The beneficiaries were provided with sewing machines, fabrics, and other equipment to enhance their productivity and competitiveness.

    The governor’s wife urged the beneficiaries to make use of the opportunity given to them, stressing that empowerment is a key driver of economic growth and development.

    By empowering tailors, Mrs. Makinde not only transformed lives but also contributed to the growth of the state’s economy, one stitch at a time.

    Some of the beneficiaries commended Mrs. Makinde, describing the empowerment as a timely intervention, particularly in the face of economic challenges facing the country.

    Dignitaries at the event include the Head of Service, Mrs. Olubunmi Oni, Commissioner for Establishments and Training, Segun Olaiwola, Commissioner for Transport and Public Works, Daud Sangodoyin, Commissioner from Special Duty, Alhaja Joke Sanni, Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Inclusion, and Mrs Toyin Balogun among others.
