    KS1 Malaika debunks mother’s death rumour

    Fuji musician, Sulaimon Adekunle aka KS1 Malaika, has clarified that his mother is alive and well, contrary to viral reports of her passing.

    The rumour started when his brother, Azeez Malaika, announced their mother’s death on social media, leading to an outpouring of condolences from the entertainment industry.

    However, KS1 Malaika has set the record straight, stating that he and Azeez do not share the same mother.

    He urged bloggers to verify information before sharing news.

    KS1 Malaika’s post reads: “She’s Alive and healthy. Bloggers should do their findings before carrying any news. My mother is Alive well and healthy. Continue to live in good health, my mum. #AZmybloodnotthesamemother.”

    Toyin Abraham’s ‘Malaika’ hit 300 million in box office

    Actress Toyin Abraham Ajeyemi has surpassed her past records as her new movie Malaika hit a new milestone.

    The movie star, via her Instagram page, announced that Malaika has grossed 300m since its cinema’s release in December 2023.

    This has made the movie her highest-grossing film of all time and the 9th-grossing Nigerian film of all time. 

    Expressing her gratitude to God without forgetting her fans, she took to social media to share the good news. 

    “Thank you GOD and thank you to everyone who has seen Malaika. Malaika is now the 9 highest-grossing Nigerian film of all time. Malaikathemovie is still showing in all cinemas,” she wrote. 

  • Malaika mourns late Ayinde Barrister

    Fuji maestro, Sulaimon Alao Adekunle popularly known as Malaika has mourned Fuji creator, Alhaji Sikiru Ayinde Barrister, who died by protracted illness in 2010.

    The pioneer of Fuji, Barrister, passed away on December 16 at age 62 at the St. Mary’s Hospital, London.

    Malaika recently took to his Instagram handle to shared a video of the Fuji icon  to eulogize and pray for late Fuji musician.

    “I remember you today as always Alhaji Dr. Sikiru Ayinde Adeyinka Agbaje BALOGUN MFR. May Almighty Allah continue to make the choicest part of aljanat your place. Your prayers for and on me is still being answered many years after. Thank you MR FUJI.”

    Barrister passed away on December 16, 2010 at aged 62, after the illness.

  • Wizkid, Pasuma, others for Idumota day

    Pop stars, Small Doctor, Olamide, Wizkid, Tiwa Savage, Indowest, Malaika, Pasuma, Osupa and K1 will entertain at the Idumota Day celebration which will hold between September 25 and October 1.

    Organisers said that security has been put in place for the week-long fiesta which holds in Lagos Island. And according to the chairman planning committee, Alhaji Azeez Adekunle Lawal a.k.a Kunle Poly, the security would include men of the Nigeria Army and Nigeria Police Force.

    Kunle Poly also told all invitees not to nurse any fear, adding that all the aforementioned security personnel would  be fully on ground.

    The celebration will also feature sporting activities like football competition, table tennis, Ayo, Ludo , skipping rope, dancing competition, snookers etc.  Aside festivities, there would also be charity events.

    “During the course of the event, stationeries will be distributed to primary and the secondary schools in the community and also the orphanage homes will be visited. After the celebration, a library will be built in the community.”

  • Malaika hosted in Dubai

    Still celebrating his 45th birthday, Fuji star Alhaji Sulaimon Alao Adekunle known as Malaika, who is currently in Dubai was hosted at Kiza, Emirates Financial Tower Difc, Dubai by a body of music promoters.

    The event put together by Jababia and Que B Promotions and supported by skye9movies had some of his fans from Nigeria in attendance for the celebration.

    As revealed by the musician, London, Manchester and City People events are still on the way.

    “I’m very delighted with the grand reception everywhere. I thank God Almighty for giving me grace to clock 45th on earth. I appreciate all the support from the promoters who have worked assiduously in making sure this event is successfully organised. U K version and City People hosting are still on the way”, he said.

    However, he was awarded Best Fuji Artiste of the Year by Nigeria Art and Culture in Dubai. The award was presented by Mr. Nasirdeen Adejumah, the President Yoruba Forum U. A. E.

    Revolutionary Fuji star, Sulaiman Alao Adekunle Malaika aka Qibla of Fuji has commissioned his multimillion naira mansion at Salvation Estate, Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos. The glamorous housewarming party which was held last Sunday attracted top dignities, celebrities and well-wishers across the state.

    Speaking with The Nation, the ‘Superstar’ crooner, expressed gratitude to God for the completion of the new mansion.

    “I am very happy for today’s occasion,” said Malaika, whose latest album is titled ‘Golden Jubilee.’

    “I give glory to Almighty Allah for what He has done in my life, completing this house is not by hard work; it’s by the glory of God. I appreciate my fans, Alayeluwa Fans Club world for supporting my brand. I love them all.”

    The dedication of the house was done by Islamic cleric, Sheikh Muyideen Ajani Bello who was accompanied by His Royal Majesty, Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji and Elepe of Epe, Oba Kamorudeen Ishola Animashaun.

    Among eminent personalities who graced the event were, KWAM 1, Obesere, Shefiu Alao, Remi Aluko, Osupa, Saidi Balogun, Muka Ray, Saoti Arewa, Saka Orobo, Bukky Black, Kifayatu Singer, Publisher City People Magazine, Seye Kehinde and others.

    According to reports, the mansion is worth over N200 million.

    Malaika, who hails from Abeokuta, Ogun state was in the news recently when he acquired Range Rover Envogue.

  • OBESERE, MALAIKA THRILL AT LIJF SPECIAL EDITION

    TWO of Nigeria’s Fuji music heavyweights, Obesere and Malaika were part of the Lagos International Jazz festival (LIJF) which paraded over 50 musicians on stage.

    Put together by Inspiro Productions, the three day event was part of celebrations to mark the 50thanniversary of Lagos at the festival themed 505050JAZZ Lagos@50 special edition.

    The event was held to mark the end of The April Jazz Appreciation Month (JAM) which happened to be on April 30 which is when International Jazz Day is celebrated worldwide.

    Prior to the main festival, three Jazz Appreciation Month (JAM) session events and three empowerment workshops were conducted at various venues in the city including the SPAN academy of Jazz & contemporary music, The Posh Renaissance Hotel GRA Ikeja, Southpaw Lounge Gbagada, and Industry Nite at The Spice Route Victoria Island, Lagos.

    This year, the festival committed to raise funds to support two charities namely, The Down Syndrome Nigeria Foundation and Sesor Foundation for Internally Displaced Persons.

    The main festival was held at the Freedom Park, Lagos Island and kicked off on Friday, April 28 with exciting performances from Jazz & Jazz related artistes like master percussionist Samson Iroko, fellow of London School of music saxophonist Olumide Shobowale, soft rock and alternative music guitarist Nathmac, Piano Duke, master bassists duo D-Bass & Joshua Fashina (Agbar Joshu), Ajaga Master Ade Piper, Clintonic the violinist, Celeste, Wole Jesutomi and trumpeter Jesse Ibidun.

    The grand finale lived up to its billing and wore well into the early hours of the morning with an array of acts which included the Organic Jazz Band, Bass Master Bright Gain featuring Jojo Body Beats, Afrocentric musician Elfreda, dynamic Afrobeat/Highlife Multi–Instrumentalist Seun Olota, KenBaze, Damilare Sax, Afro-Jazz/Highlife Guitarist Adeh and the delectable Moyeen.

    The audience was in ecstasy when the paramount King of Fuji Music Obesere mounted the stage about 11pm, thrilling the crowd for over an hour.

    Also, Fuji superstar Malaika and his orchestra of native percussions and other musicians got onstage to close the festival.

    Aside the City People Award, Malaika has also been nominated Best Fuji Musician of the Year at the Nigerian Achievers Awards billed to come up on Sunday August 30, 2015 at Troy, Victoria Island.

    The City People Award ceremony comes up on Sunday August 16, 2015 at Times Square, Ikeja.

    IT was a really exciting musical experience, as two of Nigeria’s popular Fuji musicians, Malaika and Atawewe, held fans spellbound during their performances at the quarter final of the ongoing Fuji t’o Bam competition at the Elite Club Ilesha, Osun State.

    During the competition, Sunday Olayiwola (aka Temitope Ajani Oluaye Fuji, OlajideAkanni( Banana), Smally Fuji, BukiOmoyajowo , Ejire Performer, OkikiWasiu, AdisaMuyideen and Twinzobia Twins all convinced the judges that they had what it takes to clinch the semi-final slots.

    The Marketing Director, Nigerian Breweries Plc, Walter Drenth, had, during the auditions, expressed satisfaction over the huge turnout of Fuji lovers and artistes.

    He said: “Goldberg is a quality lager beer that celebrates consumers and their traditional values. Fuji music enjoys huge followership across Nigeria, which has led the brand to provide Fuji t’o Bam as one of the platforms to further engage and connect with our consumers.

    “The Goldberg brand believes that many parts of the country are endowed with talents in music, but who are yet to be discovered. I believe that, as the talent hunt contest moves to other locations, Fuji to Bam will discover more Fuji talents who will become great music icons like KWAM1, Pasuma, SaidiOsupa and others”.

    Also, the current Goldberg ambassador and winner of last year’s Fuji t’o Bam contest, NurudeenAtanda (Antenna), performed to the delight of the audience. Consequently, the stage is now set for another show-stopping contest, as the eight qualifiers will continue their quest for N1.5m cash.

    One of the winners, KamaldeenAdewale from Ilesha, said: ”I really want to thank Goldberg for this gift. I never thought that I would win anything here. But Goldberg Fuji t’o Bam has made me a happy man. I came here to support my friend and this is an extra benefit.”
