According to Osibote, the exercise was designed to ease pressure of rising costs on low-income families and petty traders. Each state recorded almost 500 beneficiaries.

Residents received rice, tomato paste, spaghetti, and semovita, distributed in at the designated locations.

Osibote explained that the foundation’s choice of communities was guided by the need to reach groups most affected by  hardship. She emphasised that the organisation is committed to sustaining such interventions, particularly during festive periods.

“This outreach is part of our effort to support families,” she said, saying the foundation was established in memory of her late mother, whose compassion for humanity continues to inspire its work.

Beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the gesture, describing it as timely and impactful amid current economic challenges.

“Secondly, our attitude and behaviour towards the children in need makes me think we need to do it again this year.

“When I was growing up, I had passion for children in need, a virtue that is no longer popular.

“I organised this event to show love to some public schools that do not have Children’s Day.

“Besides these events,  my foundation looks after the less privileged especially people with mental challenges and those in need, knowing  the government cannot do it alone,” she said.

Osibote called on the government to partner NGOs like hers to reach more less privileged people.

She hopes to extend the event to Ogun, and others.

A member of Lagos House of Assembly representing Alimosho Constituency 02, Kehinde Joseph, underscored the importance of protecting children who are God’s special gifts that should be cherished.

He called for compliance with the child’s right laws and decried child abuse, kidnapping, trafficking and others.
