    Lions Club holds fundraising luncheon

    Maryland Golden Lions Club, District 404b2 Nigeria, has held its fundraising luncheon for community projects and charter presentation.

    The event, held in Ikeja, Lagos, also doubled as the induction of the new club and its officials, led by its Charter President, Lion Olapeju Hassan.

    Giving the charter presentation speech, Lion Omowunmi Popoola expressed appreciation to their spouses for their support, and to the President of their supervisory club, Ikeja Krystal Lions Club, Lion Tola Olukilede and his members for their moral and financial support.

    Olukilede, the chairman of the occasion, advised the new club to be focused, eschew rancour and pursue projects that would be beneficial to their community.

    “Let your projects touch lives; let it be the one that the world will see and remember forever – even if it takes you a year to accomplish,” he said, imploring guests to support them with generous donations.

    District 404B2 Nigeria District Governor, Lion Tolulope Senbanjo, supported by the First Vice District Governor, who is also the new District Governor-elect, Lion Olukemi Eribake, supervised the induction of members and installation of the board of directors.

    Lions Club takes childhood cancer awareness to Lagos School

    Maryland Golden Lions Club, Lagos British Lions Club and Indiana Lions Club all under Zone C6, District 404B2 Lions Club international yesterday held a service programme titled: ‘Gift of Learning in Celebration of Valentine’s Day’ at Bola Memorial Primary School, Mobolaji Bank Anthony Way, Ikeja, Lagos.

    The event, which began with a pediatric cancer awareness talk delivered by Dr. Olatubosun Salami of the Lagos State University, LASUTH, also had pupils of the school being presented with school bags, exercise books, pencils, biros, mathematical sets, and confectionery. The school was also gifted cleaning materials, while the teachers were gifted drinking packs.

    District Governor 404B2, Lion Tolulope Senbanjo said they were in the school to share love amongst pupils of the school and the teachers. He said the pediatric cancer lecture was to enlighten the children on cancer-causing habits, early detection,n and all.

    Lion Adedeji Olukokun, chairperson of Zone C6, comprising Lagos Indiana, Lagos Shining Star, Lagos British and Maryland Golden Lions Club said the pediatric cancer programme was to preach early detection, stressing that the aim is to save lives.

    Principal of the school, Mrs, Cecelia Sipeolu appreciated the club’s longstanding relationship with the school, while also soliciting their support in the area of sanitation.
