    ‘Iduoriyekemwen a loyal PDP man than Ize-Iyamu’

    The Next Generation Foundation, a socio-political group under the Edo state Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) says it is Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu that needs to apologize for his political prostitution and not Matthew Iduoriyekemwen, recalling that while Ize-Iyamu had left the PDP for the then ACN.

    The group on Thursday Iduoriyekemwen had been a member of the PDP since 1999.

    Reacting to the comment by the Edo Youths PDP Vanguard, which accused Iduoriyekemwen of political prostitution and a “double agent”, the Foundation in a statement signed by Osaretin Omobude said “we are aware that no PDP youth will speak that way against Iduoriyekemwen because Matthew has been the rallying point for Edo youths from day one.

    “When you go to Iduoriyekemwen’s house you see our youths every day and he accommodated everybody. So I wonder where you find any youths that will say Ize-Iyamu accommodates. He owns a house that is like a stadium can any youth go there and eat, is he accessible? So no youth will ever sign such a statement. And the issue of prostitution, it is laughable to accuse our governorship candidate Iduoriyekemwen of political prostitution when Ize-Iyamu in his own greed fought Anenih to destroy PDP in 2006.

    “Ize-Iyamu later left the PDP for ACN then because he wanted the governorship ticket, when he discovered Oshiomhole his good friend will play him out of it, he ran back to PDP just because of the ticket. As a matter of fact, Ize-Iyamu was a member of the ACN during the Local Government election when he denied his current running mate, John Yakubu the opportunity to become chairman of Esan North East because Ize-Iyamu ordered the Chairman of the SIEC to go and declare the result in favour of his then ACN.

    “So those who are calling Iduoriyekemwen a political prostitute should hide their heads in shame. It means they don’t even know what is happening in Edo state politically. And that was why a leader of the party, Okharedia Ihimekpen told Ize-Iyamu to apologise to Edo PDP before he said he wants to be governor of Edo state because the damage he caused in PDP today is still what we are suffering.

    “So Ize-Iyamu should be the one to confess and ask for forgiveness and that is why it is laughable to see him seeking for the ticket of the PDP he destroyed while he was SSG” it stated.

    Iduoriyekwemwen is PDP candidate in Edo – Sheriff

    The factional National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, has insisted that Mr. Matthew Iduoriyekemwen is the party’s authentic candidate for the September 10 governorship election in Edo State.

    The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has already approved the candidature of Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu for the contest.

    Ise-Iyamu was presented by the Ahmed Makarfi led caretaker committee.

    Sheriff spoke in Abuja on Tuesday while receiving a delegation of party women from Edo State.

    The women thanked him for allowing Iduoriyekemwen to choose Mrs. Herberta Okonofua as his running mate.

    Sheriff told the women that a Federal High Court in Abuja had given him the go ahead to submit the names of the party’s governorship candidates for Edo and Ondo States.

    “The court also said that starting from the date of last convention, May 21, 2016 in Port Harcourt, any document signed by Senator Ahmed Makarfi is illegal, null and void.‎ So I don’t know why they are deceiving Nigerians,” Sheriff added.

    Accreditation of delegates yet to begin in Sheriff’s PDP primaries

    Accreditation of delegates for Wednesday’s governorship primaries for the Ali Modu Sheriff faction is yet to commence.

    This is just as a combined team of security operatives have sealed off entrance to the Dr. Samuel Ogbemudia stadium, venue of the primaries.

    Two aspirants, Matthew Iduoriyekemwen and Hon Ehiozuwa Agbonnayima, are expected to contest for the PDP ticket in the fresh party primaries.

    About 520 delegates were elected to participate in the primaries.

    As at press time, security operatives are barring anybody including journalists from getting access to stadium.

    Spokesman for the Sheriff’s PDP faction in Edo, Okharedia Ihimekpen, told our reporter on phone that they were at the office of the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 5 to sort out things.

    He insisted that the primaries would hold as scheduled.

    Members of the PDP were seen at a distance waiting to gain entrance into the stadium.

  • Edo primaries: PDP begins accreditation

    The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State has started accreditation of delegates ahead of its governorship primaries scheduled to begin soon.

    Three aspirants -Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, Chief Solomon Edebiri and Matthew Iduoriyekemwen – are battling for the party governorship ticket.

    The accreditation of delegates is taking place in three different centres for each senatorial district.

    Delegates from Edo central Senatorial district are being screened at the party secretariat along First East Circular, while those from Edo South Senatorial District were screened at a former secretariat of the PDP, located at the popular five junction.

    Delegates from Edo North are at the JBS Estate, off Sapele Road, for the exercise.

    The PDP primaries will be conducted by Mr. David Umahi sent by the party’s national body led by Senator Ahmed Makarfi .

    Umahi promised to conduct a rancour free exercise.
