    Merit Toastmasters’ change of guard holds tomorrow

    Merit Toastmasters Club, one of the member clubs of Toastmasters International, will hold its ‘Change of Guard’ tomorrow.

    The club is a global non-profit educational organisation that empowers individuals to become effective communicators and leaders.

    Chairman, Change of Guard Planning Committee for Merit Toastmasters Club, Mrs. Funmi Omotoso, said this year’s event with the theme: “Reflect, Reignite, Renew,” will be virtual and will bring together members, guests, and dignitaries from around the world.

    “It will encourage members to reflect on their experiences and achievements over the past year, reignite their passion for personal and professional development, and renew their commitment to the club’s values and mission,” Mrs. Omotoso stated.

    The out-going Exco members are: President, Funmi Omotoso; Vice President Education, Rasaq Odejayi; Vice President Membership, Victoria Shomade; Vice President Public Relations, Ebun D’Aimelda; Secretary, Loveth Val-Adinnu; Treasurer, Wale Thomas; and Sergeant-at-Arms, Anjolaoluwa Badaru.

    Those that will take over the Club’s leadership on Saturday are: President-elect, Rasaq Odejayi; Vice President Education-elect, Ebun D’Aimelda; Vice President Membership-elect, Victoria Shomade; Secretary-elect, Funlola Ifebogun; and Sergeant-at-Arms-elect, Tobi Adeuja.

    Merit Toastmasters Club gets new excos

    The Merit Toastmasters Club has held its change of guard ceremony, with the theme: Dream, dare, deliver.

     Toastmasters International is a non-profit organisation that focuses on developing communication and leadership skills.

    It offers a supportive environment for members to improve public speaking, presentations, and leadership abilities through regular meetings, prepared speeches, and constructive feedback.

     The change of guard ceremony began with a captivating inspirational address by Charter President, Abayomi Aiyesimoju, setting the tone for a day of reflection and motivation.

    District 94 Director, Nadine Mbikina, delivered a heartfelt goodwill message, emphasiding the spirit of camaraderie within the Toastmasters community.

    Awards presentation was a highlight of the day, skillfully orchestrated by Area 19 Director, Yusuf Apena, recognising outstanding achievements within the club.

    Poetry took centre stage with moving presentations by Jola Ojo and Zoe Tolulope, adding a creative touch to the proceedings.

     The installation ceremony was conducted by Division F Director, Kuby Uyanga, symbolising the transfer of leadership responsibilities.

    The newly sworn-in President, Funmi Omotoso, delivered a compelling presidential address, outlining her vision and goals for the upcoming term.

    Monisola Aiyesimoju took the stage for the recognition of excellence, acknowledging individuals who have demonstrated exceptional commitment and dedication.

    The vote of thanks, a crucial part of any ceremony, was eloquently presented by the Chairman of the Change of Guard ceremony, Craig Esohwode.

     The event was gracefully presided over by the Toastmaster of the day, a seasoned veteran, Rashidat Saliu-Bello, whose experience added a touch of wisdom and poise to the proceedings.

    Members of the newly sworn-in excos include: Funmi Omotoso (President),  Rasaq Odejayi (Vice President Education), Victoria Shomade (Vice President Membership),  Ebun D’Almeida (Vice President Public Relations),  Loveth Val-Adinnu (Secretary), Wale Thomas (Treasurer) and AnjolaOluwa Badaru (Sergeant-at-Arms).

    Together, this dedicated team embodies the spirit of Merit Toastmasters Club, ready to inspire and empower each member on their journey of personal and professional development.

     The ceremony not only celebrated the transition of leadership but also showcased the talent, dedication, and unity that define the Toastmasters community.

    As the club enters a new chapter under the leadership of Omotoso, there’s a palpable sense of enthusiasm and commitment to excellence.
