  • MFM FC resume camp for new season

    Players and officials of  Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries Football Club of Lagos have resumed camping ahead of the 2016/17  Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season, reports mountaintopfc.com. The Olukoya Boys returned to camp from the three weeks break given to them by the teams management after their exploits in the 2015/16 Nigerian top league season as they retained  their NPFL status.

    The  head coach of the Lagos-based team, Fidelis Ilechukwu in an interview session with the clubs media team appreciated Dr. Daniel Olukoya, the General Overseer of Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries worldwide for giving him another opportunity to work with the team and stated that preparations for the new season starts on Thursday with light workout sessions.

    “First and foremost I like to use this opportunity to say a very big thank you to our father in the Lord Dr Olukoya for his unprecedented support so far and for bringing me back to my position as the head coach of the team. I can not thank him enough.

    “The team has resumed camping and I have told the players that preparations will begin this Thursday (yesterday) with a light workout session and we will complete the first phase of the training session on Friday,” he told mountaintopfc.com.

    MFM FC are condemned to beat Enyimba, says Newman

    MFM FC striker, Musa Newman has insisted that the Olukoya Boys are condemned to win their Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) game against Enyimba international in Port Harcourt this weekend.

    The former Sunshine Stars of Akure forward ended his goal drought last Sunday after scoring twice in their 3-1 win over Lobi Stars of Makurdi at the Agege Stadium.

    Musa said he knows the game against the defending champions will be tough, but insisted that Lobi’s victory will motivate them going into the game.

    “We have a huge task against Enyimba this Sunday, it’s a game we must win but it’s not going to be easy for us,” Newman told MFM Media.

    “The win against Lobi Stars is a major boost for us as we go into the weekend match. Enyimba struggled in their last home game against Wikki Tourists. We need to build on our last game as we aim for the maximum points.

    “A positive result in the match which I believe is achievable will keep us in the league irrespective of the outcome of other matches involving other relegation threatened teams.”

    Kano Pillars goalkeeper, David Obiazor has promised 100% performance against top-flight newcomers, Mountain of Fire Miracles Ministries (MFM) FC.

    The Nigerian shot stopper was at his finest hour in the side’s top-flight matchday 27 clash 1-2 loss at champions, Enyimba in Port Harcourt.

    The Pyramid City side will welcome the Olukoya Boys to their fortress, Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano on Sunday for the NPFL matchday 28 clash.

    Both sides shared the spoils in the first fixture clash at the Agege Township Stadium in Lagos.

    Obiazor said he is not under pressure to produce good result after the loss at Enyimba but insisted there will be no leakage against MFM FC on Sunday.

    “There is no pressure on us to perform after the defeat at Enyimba on Sunday in Port Harcourt.

    “However, we are desirous to get back quickly to winning ways aimed at challenging for the summit once again.

    “So we are coming out strongly against MFM FC aimed at recovering the three points we lost at Enyimba.

    “And I have come out to assure 100% performance in the clash, there will not be any leakage on my part to ensure we claim the whole points at stake.

    “MFM FC will be difficult, especially as the first match ended 1-1 they will be aiming for upset in the match but they will not get it as we need the points to help close the gap at the summit,” said the former El Kanemi Warriors and Heartland safe hands to supersport.com.

    MFM FC 2-0 Nasarawa Olatunbosun’s double sinks sloppy Solid Miners

    Sikiru Olatunbosun scored twice as MFM FC eased past a jittery Nasarawa United 2-0 to bring an end to their recent poor run in Agege.
    The visitors who had lost their first game of the season to Fidelis Ilechukwu’s men in Lagos with the intention of avenging their painful defeat looked sluggish despite a raft of changes from technical crew.
    MFM FC dominated the opening half with their forwards profiting from sloppy Nasarawa United defending.
    Isah Akor spurned the opportunity to give the visitors the lead after 15 minutes as his tame effort was saved by goalkeeper Dele Ayeleso.
    Five minutes later, Olatunbosun put the Olukoya Boys ahead with a cool finish courtesy of an assist from Stephen Odey. Ten minutes later he completed his brace to the dismay of the Solid Miners.
    In the second half, Kabiru Dogo’s side tried all they could to restore some pride but all were to no avail as the hosts secured maximum points to move up the NPFL log.

    MFM FC backs Emiloju, Obanor for Olympics

    Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries Football Club of Lagos has tipped the duo of Obanor Erhun and Julius Emiloju Oriyomi for success at the forthcoming 2016 Rio Olympics that will take place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

    Speaking with mountaintopfc.com, the chairman of the Lagos-based team, Godwin Enakhena stated that Emiloju and Obanor are bound for success at the 2016 Rio Olympics.

    “All things being equal, Obanor and Emiloju will be flying Nigeria’s flag at the Olympics. We owe them total support and prayers for their names to go down in history as joining Nwankwo Kanu and Austin Okocha to have won the football gold .”

    Enakhena added that Obanor and Emiloju need to keep their heads up inspite of the poor results of the Dream Team in South Korea.

    MFM FC 1-1 Enugu Rangers: Ilechukwu’s side miss chance to go top

    MFM FC failed in their bid to usurp Enugu Rangers at the top of Nigeria Professional Football League as they were held 1-1 at the Agege Stadium.

    They looked on course when Ifeanyi Mathew’s fourth minute free kick hit the side of the net.

    Despite their dominance, they fell behind in the 35th minute when Obinna Nwodo breached their backline to put the Flying Antelopes ahead.

    Fidelis Ilechukwu’s men responded strongly and almost had a spectacular leveller when Musa Newman went close in the closing stages of the game with a stunning kick from over 20 yards out.

    Enugu Rangers seemingly being in control of the game though, failed to build on their lead and allowed their hosts back into the game through Stephen Odey.

    The hosts went in search of another goal but couldn’t find a way past goalkeeper Emmanuel Daniel, as the Flying Antelopes snatched a point from Agege.

    Head coach of Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries Football Club of Lagos, Fidelis Ilechukwu has said Plateau United Football club were better than his wards after his side’s 1-1 draw in match day 9 of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) encounter in Jos.

    Plateau United FC came from a goal down to record a draw at the Rwang Pam Stadium on Sunday against red hot MFM FC courtesy of Reuben Bala’s 49th minute strike after Adekunle Adegboyega had put the visitors in front with a fine finish in the first half of the crunchy tie.

    Despite amassing a fifth away point in four away matches,  coach Ilechukwu feels his team were lucky to share the spoils against coach Zakary Bareje’s tutored side.

    “I want to say that we had a good game but I think the result was a reflection of how much both teams put into getting a result at the end of the encounter.

    “Yes, they had a good game because a lot of things worked for them, the pitch was a big plus for them, both sides had chances but we were quick to convert one.

    “I will not say we were superior because we picked a point, they gave us a good fight,” he told MFM FC media.

    The Olukoya Boys are third on the NPFL log with 15 points from nine league matches. They will host table-toppers Enugu Rangers in their next league match at the Agege Stadium.

    The much talked about Lagos derby between Ikorodu United and MFM FC ended in a barren draw, although Monsuru Bashiru’s sending off was the main talking point.

    During the halftime break Goal met with Monsuru, who looked really shocked and disturbed about the situation that saw him get the marching orders due to what the centre referee termed as time wasting.

    “I’m really shocked, I can’t believe what just happened, we are committed to make MFM FC the best club. We are well behaved and would not just act in a manner that will put the brand we represent down,” Bashiru told Goal.

    “The goalkeeper, Abayomi Folarin called me to come and take the free kick and while I walked towards the ball to take it, an opponent just stood over the ball and refused to keep the 10 metres gap so we called the referee and the response I got was a red card.”

    Both teams met for the first time in the NPFL with so much expectated being a derby that Lagosians were keen to watch.

    With the solo point, MFM are joint NPFL leaders along with Kano Pillars and Enugu Rangers, while Ikorodu United, who have dropped points twice at home in three matches, are 13th on the log.

    It promises to be an entertaining affair when Nasarawa United host newcomers MFM FC in match day one of the 2016 Nigeria Professional Football League on Sunday.

    The Kabiru Dogo-managed side will lock horns with the Olukoya Boys at the Abuja National Stadium with football fans expected to be treated to a spectacle.

    Top striker of Nasarawa United, Tayo Fabiyi has warned his team mates on the consequences of underrating the newly promoted MFM FC.

    ”Football fans will be treated to a spectacle as both teams will be gunning for the three maximum points at stake,” Tayo Fabiyi told Goal.

    ”It’s our first game of the season, which is a must-win for us. We mustn’t underrate the MFM side for that could be suicidal,” he continued.

    The former Sharks and Shooting Stars striker also hailed the quality in the playing personnel of the Lafia-based side.

    ”When you are surrounded by quality players the resolve to perform is always certain. The quality in this team is enormous,” Fabiyi added.

    Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries Football Club of Lagos have confirmed their readiness to win the Nigeria National League (NNL) Super 4 which is billed for next month.

    MFM FC and Ikorodu United, both of Lagos, Niger Tornadoes of Minna and Plateau United of Jos were the teams who gained promotion to the top flight at the end of the NNL season.

    NNL chairman Emeka Inyama disclosed in a chat with MFM FC chairman, Godwin Enakhena, that the event which is played by all four teams promoted to the Nigeria Premier League (NPL) will meet at a venue yet to be decided to produce the overall best team at the end of the just-concluded NNL season.

    “We are in talks with two potential sponsors for the Super 4, hopefully, we will hear from them by this week. If that is done, then the event will hold in the next two weeks”, explained Inyama who doubles as a board member of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

    In his reaction, MFM FC coach Fidelis Ilechukwu ‘Kamara’ said he is excited that the NNL Super 4 is coming so soon and will afford him an opportunity to prove that his side were the best in the NNL.

    “This is good news for me and the players. It’s a unique opportunity for us to prove to the world that our promotion to the NPL was well deserved,” said the coach.

    “Aside that, the Super 4 will afford us an opportunity to begin preparations in earnest for next season in the top flight.”
