Pacos de Ferreira went ahead in the game just before half time through Paraiba who scored past Mika in the Boavista goal.

Uchebo’s goal in the 86th minute could not spark a comeback from the home side as Pacos held out for the victory

    Uchebo sent off in Belgium

Former Nigeria youth international Michael Uchebo was sent off for Cercle Brugge in a Belgian league clash on Saturday.

Uchebo’s received his first caution of the game which Cercle Brugge drew goalless with Waasland-Beveren in the 80th minute, before he was sent off for second bookable offence in the 90th minute.

He has scored five goals in the league so far.

This was the match in which Nigeria international Gabriel Reuben made his debut for Waasland-Beveren.

Meanwhile, the Beveren trainer, Bob Peeters has spoken of his admiration for another Nigerian, Michael Uchebo who led the line admirably for Cercle Brugge on Saturday night.

Uchebo scored what appeared to be the winner late on but the effort was chalked off after he apparently handled the ball before applying the final touch.

“We knew we were in for a tough match against a good footballing Cercle Brugge with a very good Michael Uchebo (in their ranks),” Peeters told the Waasland-Beveren official website, www.waasland-beveren.be.

Uchebo, who has scored five goals in 23 league appearances for Cercle Brugge, this season was sent off in the final minute of injury time after picking up his second booking of the night.

The red card was Uchebo’s first ever as a professional.
