Over N39.7 million had been realised during the launching of Al-Yaqeen Miga Waqf Foundation Appeal Fund of Miga Local Government Area in Jigawa State.
The highest donation came from the chief launcher, Alhaji Sa’idu Ismaila Koya with N15 million: N5million for himself and N10 million for his parents.
Other donors include the speaker of Jigawa House of Assembly, Rt Honorable Haruna Aliyu Dangyatin who donated N5 million, local government council: N2 million; local government council chairman, N500,000 etc.
Speaking at the ceremony, the chairman of the foundation and district head of Miga, Alhaji Muhammad Garba, Kogunan Dutse, said, “The Al-Yaqeen Miga Waqf Foundation is a unique philosophic organisation established in perpetuity, serving the entire Miga Local Government Area.”
Alhaji Garba explained that “the foundation operates based on Islamic endowment through Waqf donations that generate benefits and is actively engaged in services to assist mankind for the sake of Almighty Allah.

“Our goal is to create a lasting positive impact on the lives of the less-privileged population in Miga local government area. The funds realised and the one to be generated would be divided into two – 60 percent will be invested while 40 percent will be channeled to support the vulnerable people for sustainability.”
The chairman maintained that: “This initiative will focus on supporting vulnerable groups, such as the orphans, the elderly, widows and other underserved members of the community with the ultimate aim of building sustainable financial independence”.
He said the idea started from annual Zakat collection by the emirate council under His Royal Highness Emir of Dutse, late Alhaji Nuhu Sunusi with the support of the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO).
The representative of Lafiya programme, a project funding by the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), Dr Hassan Hussaini Adamu, said the Lafiya programme is supporting five states and 138 local government areas in Nigeria in promoting health services, enhancing education opportunities and encouraging philanthropy and Investment.
