Mike Bamiloye defends viral gospel hit “Never Going Back”

Renowned evangelist and founder of Mount Zion Faith Ministries, Mike Bamiloye, has defended the viral gospel song ‘Never Going Back’ by Gaise Baba and Lawrence Oyor.

The song sparked both admiration and criticism within Christian circles.

In a heartfelt post on social media, Bamiloye addressed the controversy surrounding the song, urging believers to focus on its transformative message rather than the artists’ appearances or stylistic choices.

The song, blending Yoruba rhythms with a bold declaration of faith, has resonated deeply with Nigerian youth, amassing over 4 million streams online.

Mike Bamiloye said its lyrics, such as “Ife Jesu lo wa mi ri, to gbami ku o” (“The love of Jesus sought me, found me, and died for me”), deliver the gospel in a way that connects with a generation inundated by secular influences.

However, some Christians, including a pastor, have criticised the song, fixating on Gaise’s colorful hair, Lawrence’s headband, and the energetic dance moves in its music video.

Bamiloye expressed dismay at this reaction, questioning why some believers are quick to judge the song’s outward presentation rather than celebrate its potential to reach young people.

The evangelist warned that condemning such gospel expressions risks alienating young people who are already bombarded by secular music and culture.

“Never Going Back – A Soundtrack for This Generation. So Never Going Back by Gaise Baba and Lawrence Oyor, hit the internet and it went viral, young people love it, but recently, I have been seeing videos of a pastor and some Christians criticizing the song and I can’t stop thinking about the message of the song and the reactions it has sparked amongst us christians.

“Here’s the thing: teenagers and young adults today are some of the most difficult people to reach with the gospel. Why? Because they’re constantly being influenced by friends, social media, entertainment, and everything in between. In a world that glamorizes drugs, promiscuity, money-worship, and “love” that fades faster than a Snapchat story, we finally get a song that boldly centers Jesus and personal transformation, that our youths are vibing too and some of us are criticizing it? What is wrong with us? Let’s take a step back.

“The lyrics say: “Ife Jesu lo wa mi ri, to gbami ku o”—“The love of Jesus sought me, found me, and died for me.” That’s the gospel, in Yoruba rhythm and sound! Yet all some people can talk about is Gaise’s hair color, his blinks, the headband on Lawrence’s head and the dance steps in the song. Really?

“Someone said, “I go narrow, dem think say I no know road o.” Isn’t that what the Bible teaches? Narrow is the path that leads to life. Didn’t Jesus say He came for the sick, the lost, the sinners? Will every gospel singer be Dunsin and Nathaniel?

“Instead of focusing on the outward appearance of the ministers, what if we focused our hearts on praying that: Out of 4 million streams, at least 400,000 youths would genuinely surrender to Jesus.

“Another 400,000 who are still searching would encounter the Holy Spirit and find salvation. The rest would be stirred to rededicate their lives and stay rooted in Christ.

“Wouldn’t that be worth celebrating? Here’s the truth: whether we like it or not, someone is influencing your children, your teenagers, and your youth group. If they’re not listening to something like Never Going Back, they’ll be listening to something else and let’s be honest, a lot of what’s out there isn’t helping them know Jesus.

“When we publicly condemn songs like this, directly or subtly, we shut the door to one of the few tools actually speaking the language of the street with the heart of the cross.

“I’m not a pastor, but I know this: Jesus came and died for sinners. None of us regardless of titles, appearances, or backgrounds is better than another, we’ve all simply found favor of God and are trying to live a life that pleases our Heavenly Father.

“So rather than criticise, let’s pray. Let’s encourage. Let’s support gospel expressions that speak to this generation in their own rhythm.

“Haba!! some of us are still “saving the ark” and we are not even aware of it. May God help us all”.

Mike Bamiloye pays tribute to Abbatoir’s “Baba Gbenro”

Evangelist and gospel filmmaker Mike Bamiloye has written a tribute to Dr. Korede Are, popularly known as “Baba Gbenro” in the ABATTOIR movie series.

Are passed away on November 14, 2024 and was laid to rest January 31, 2025.

Bamiloye reflected on Dr. Are’s life and ministry, describing him as a dedicated drama minister who served the Lord with all his heart and mind.

He noted that Dr. Are’s portrayal of Baba Gbenro in the ABATTOIR movie series was a divine assignment that showcased the power and spirit of the Lord.

Bamiloye recalled how Dr. Are would fully immerse himself in the role of Baba Gbenro, bringing the character to life in a way that inspired and transformed audiences worldwide.

He attributed the success of the movie series to the Holy Spirit’s anointing and empowerment.

The filmmaker highlighted the impact of Dr. Are’s ministry, stating that his portrayal of Baba Gbenro taught people valuable lessons about love, hospitality, and intercession.

Bamiloye concluded his tribute by celebrating Dr. Are’s life and legacy, acknowledging that he had fulfilled his divine assignment and finished well in the Lord’s service.

Bamiloye wrote on Instagram: “HE SERVED THE LORD AND ENDED WELL. Yesterday, Friday January 31, 2025, Dr Korede Are, popularly known as BABA GBENRO, was laid to rest.

The summary of it all is that, he did what was committed into his hand with all his heart and mind. He finished his assignment in the Lord’s presence and was called HOME to come and rest from all his labor. He ended well in the Lord’s service. He was a DRAMA MINISTER. The Lord gave him a lifetime opportunity to play the role of BABA GBENRO in ABATTOIR Season-Movie and he did it with all his heart, as if all his life depended on the Role. On sets of the movie, the power and the Spirit of the Lord took over him.

Everything always look ordinary whenever he and the others were acting the movie, Director. CAlling shots and camera rolling and Make-Up artistes adjusting his face and sound men fixing mics on him, taking some shots twice or thrice to get a best shot. Everything always look ordinary to us on set.

“But the moment we were done and the movie edited in the studio, THE HOLY SPIRIT ALWAYS TOOK IT OVER AND REBRAND THE MOVIE (Abattoir) before sending it out to the world.

That was how the Holy Spirit had empowered and Anointed the roles of Baba Gbenro in ABATTOIR Movies and made him a household name.

It was the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit used him to play the role of Holy Spirit who would always warn His children. BABA GBENRO played the Role of Holy Spirit who would never be tired of showing us love of God.

How could a person play a Role in a Drama and we began to see Jesus Christ in the Role he played?

People began to learn to be Loving, Caring, and Hospitable like Baba Gbenro.

People began to see The Characters of what ideal Intercessors should be. People began to check their lives if they are actually Christians.

Many Intercessors began to check their attitudes and Characters if they are truly Intercessors, comparing their characters and patience and resilience with the status of the character of BABA GBENRO in ABATTOIR movies.

Wherever we travelled to: Europe, USA and some African Nations, people would ask for BABA GBENRO.

“Shortly after he passed on, we were in Cameroon for programs and many people were greeting us and consoling us on the passing away of Baba Gbenro.

Dr. Korede Are was a Drama Minister.

But God clothed him with a strategic Role of BABA GBENRO in ABATTOIR movies, and HE WAS SPIRITUALLY PREPARED AND HUMBLED ENOUGH TO BE ABLE TO CARRY THE ROLE”.

Mike Bamiloye slams ladies with revealing online content

Renowned evangelist Mike Bamiloye has expressed concerns and disappointment over the growing trend of young girls posting revealing and suggestive content online.

In a lengthy post on Instagram, Bamiloye questioned the motivations behind such behavior, asking if it was the result of evil spirits, household enemies, or simply a desire for attention.

He criticised the girls for dressing inappropriately, dancing half-naked, and sharing their videos on social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok.

Bamiloye described their actions as “three minutes of madness” and warned that they were auditioning for the attention of invisible demons.

The evangelist also expressed concern over the age of these girls, wondering if they were between 17 and 25 years old, and lamenting that the devil had already mortgaged their future.

He wrote: “WERE YOU MADE FOR THIS? Young Girls and Growing Ladies,
Lend me your ears! What is wrong with you? Who has done this to you?
What Spirit has possessed you that has made you to be dancing half Naked on the Instagram and Tim-Tok Camera Phone? Is this the Work of your Household Enemies from tour father’s house? Or it is the enemies from your Mother’s house that has brought this Madness on you?

Mike Bamiloye warns believers of ‘fake rapture’ plot

Founder of Mount Zion Faith Ministries Evangelist Mike Bamiloye has warned Christians about a purported “fake rapture” scheme.

According to Bamiloye, scientists and world powers are allegedly working on a plan to create a fake rapture, designed to mislead and distract people from the true event predicted in Christian prophecy.

Bamiloye referenced a Facebook post claiming that an “extraterrestrial invasion” will take 10,000 people in 2025.

He cautioned this plot is an attempt to create confusion and distract people from preparing for the actual rapture.

The filmmaker highlighted various signs and signals, including reports of UFOs, strange creatures, and natural phenomena, which he believes indicate that the world is entering a season of great delusion.

Bamiloye urged believers to be vigilant and not be deceived by the alleged fake rapture plot.

He wrote: “You don’t believe in the rapture? There are too many signs and signals around us. Even scientists and world powers believe that an imminent occurrence could lead to the disappearance of many people.

“They are working hard to provide an explanation ahead of time. They are also secretly developing scientific and technological inventions designed to make people vanish without a trace.

“They are attempting to create a FAKE RAPTURE to distract us from preparing for the actual rapture. They are perfecting that technology, so that the Enemy, the Devil can get us confused.

“They are trying to invent FAKE RAPTURE, in order to distract our preparation from the Actual Rapture. We have cone to the Season of Great Delusion.

“All around us now  are news and reports of UFO (unidentified Flying Objects) and emerging of Strange beings from the Land, Air and from the Oceans. We are beginnjng to see creatures that are half human and half sea creatures, unbelievable images of beings coming out  of the belly of the Seas.

“Water is flowing in Arabian deserts, The biggest river in the World, The Euphrates, drying up to receal unbelievable Caves on the river beds. Stop boasting about charitable acts, Mike Bamiloye warns Christians

Evangelist Mike Bamiloye has urged believers to refrain from publicly announcing their charitable and philanthropic acts, cautioning that such actions could forfeit eternal rewards.

Drawing from Matthew 6:1-4, Bamiloye highlighted the biblical instruction to avoid practising righteousness for public recognition.

The scripture advises giving in secret so that God, who sees what is done privately, can reward the giver.

The evangelist warned that those who boast about their generosity have already received their reward in full, implying they should not expect further blessings from God.

He urged believers to give quietly and humbly, allowing God to see their actions and reward them accordingly.

He wrote: “Beloved sowers and givers, listen! If you are the type that always blow the trumpet of your Givings and Sowings and Seedings and Sacrifices before men or always love to announce your benevolence and philanthropic works on social media; You stand the risk of having all your eternal rewards burnt to ashes at his coming.

“Matthew 6:1-4 NIV [1] “Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.

[2] “So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full.

[3] But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing,

[4] so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.”

Do not to mock men of God, miracles – Mike Bamiloye urges Christians

Evangelist Mike Bamiloye has cautioned Christians against joining mockers and scoffers who ridicule men of God, the church, and genuine miracles.

He emphasised that while unbelievers may engage in such behaviour, Christians should not.

Bamiloye noted that some people may only turn to God when faced with situations that defy medical intervention and logical solutions.

He encouraged Christians to trust in God’s power and sovereignty, quoting the phrase “what God cannot do does not exist.”

The evangelist also distinguished between fake prophets and genuine men of God who work tirelessly for the expansion of the Kingdom of God.

He urged Christians not to despise all pastors and prophets, but rather to focus on exposing the fake ones.

Bamiloye wrote: “Scoffers and mockers. Children of the Kingdom, Do not join the Mockers to drag and mock the Men, the Church of God and genuine Miracles of God. The Unbelievers may do this, but not you.

“Some Mockers of God and His Wonders may not be convinced unless they are faced with Situations and Circumstances that defy all Medical Interventions and known logical Solutions, it is then they would turn to God for all possible miraculous solutions.

“It is then, they would know that what God cannot do does not exist, for He is God of all flesh and there is nothing, absolutely Nothing impossible for Him. We know, there are many fake prophets and merchant priests who are after their bellies,

“But there are great men of God who are living for the expansion of the Kingdom of God and who are living for salvation and deliverance of the multitudes.

“If you are going to ridicule and despise Pastors and Prophets, it is the fake ones living for the devil you should despise, not the Few Laborers of the Vineyard working to bring Souls to the Kingdom of God.

“Therefore, children of the most high, do not join the mockers of god and those who drag his servant to attract views and fans, that would amount to kicking your legs against the pricks and thorns. 2025 is not like all previous years.”
