Majority Leader of the Nigerian Senate, Michael Opeyemi Bamidele, has commended Governor Biodun Oyebanji for the various innovations brought to sports management and development in Ekiti State.
Bamidele remarked at the opening of the MOB Unity Cup being played among football teams in Ekiti Central Senatorial District.
Represented by one of his legislative aides, Gbenga Banji , Bamidele said it was obvious that Governor Oyebanji has good vision and genuine love for sports with the various reforms being introduced in the State.
According to the Senate leader, the transformation of the sports council to Ekiti State Sports Commission is a signal and indication to revolutionize sports and make it more lucrative in Ekiti State.
Meanwhile, the chairman of media committee of the MOB Unity Cup, Toyin Ayoola, has in a statement, called on individuals and corporate bodies to join hands with the governor to promote sports in Ekiti State.
He also pointed out that Senator Bamidele is leading by example with the construction of stadia across all the five local government councils in the senatorial district.

In a related development, Senator Bamidele has expressed satisfaction with the standard of the on-going second edition of the Mob Unity Cup.
According to Opeyemi Bamidele who is the sponsor of the championship, the motive behind the competition is to discover hidden talents from the nooks and crannies of Ekiti State and market them to the world.
Opeyemi said he’s doing this to collaborate with Governor Biodun Oyebanji to boost the standard of grassroots sports development in Ekiti State.
He urged all the remaining teams in the championship to put up more spirited efforts to clinch victory as the competition gets more challenging.
Meanwhile, Isaja FC has emerged the winner of Efon Local Government contest after a 6-5 penalty shoot-out victory over Obalu FC after both teams had tied goalless in regulation time at the Government College playing ground in Efon.
The championship continues this weekend with crucial matches to be decided in Aramoko, Ekiti West and Ado local government councils.
