‘Women should be more active in society’

Women have been called upon to take up greater roles in nation-building efforts, Council of Northern Youth Advocate of Nigeria (CNYAN) President, Mohammed Abdulrazaq, has said in Lagos.

She spoke at the decoration of Judith Udeh, principal manager (Marketing) of Geneith Pharmaceuticals as Garkuwan MatadanArewa( Shield of Northern Youth).

She was also honoured with the Sir Ahmadu Bello Platinum Leadership Award.

Udeh received the honour at a ceremony in Lagos Airport Golden Tulip Hotel, Ikeja.

Abdulrazaq, represented by Umar Shaibu, Lagos State chapter president, said the recognition underscored Udeh’s impact as a detribalised leader and a role model for young Nigerians.

He said her nomination, ratified at Arewa House, was unanimous, owing to her integrity, service, and commitment to unity.

“Judith Udeh is a solution to the puzzle called leadership distinction,” Abdulrazaq said. “Nigeria needs women of courage, vision, resilience to occupy space in public and professional life.

She has proved that women can lead with distinction, inspire youth, and contribute to unity and development.”

The youth leader added that CNYAN, a youth-focused organisation dedicated to leadership, unity, and empowerment in the North, sees her leadership as a benchmark for purposeful service.

Udeh thanked the council, dedicating the award to young Nigerians and girls making a difference. “This award is a reminder of the collective responsibility we share,” she said.

“I dedicate it to every young woman who dares to dream, to lead, and to inspire change. Our country needs women who will stand tall for unity, integrity, and development.”

She also hailed her colleagues at Geneith Pharmaceuticals for their support, describing leadership as a shared journey made possible by teamwork. She pledged to continue advocating youth inclusion, responsible leadership, and women’s participation in national growth.

With over two decades of experience in the Nigerian pharmaceutical industry, Udeh is widely respected for her integrity and mentorship of young professionals. Earlier this year, she was honoured with the Leadership Peace Award of Excellence 2025 by the Coalition of Nigerian Women Forum for Peace and Good Governance, for her role in peacebuilding, healthcare marketing, and youth engagement through initiatives such as the Geneith Health Competition.
