    Stars storm Monalisa Chinda’s 40th birthday party

    Last Saturday, Nollywood star and producer, Monalisa Chinda, played host to several Nollywood stars as well as political gladiators at a private dinner to mark her 40th birthday.

    Earlier in the day, she had held a charity walk alongside her colleagues and launched a campaign to sponsor no fewer than 200 less privileged children through her Arise Monalisa Foundation.

    The party train later stopped at the upscale Villa Medici in Victoria Island, Lagos. However, the highlight of the birthday shindig was her appointment as the first Slum2School Ambassador.

    Dignatories who graced the colourful event include Joke Silva, Tonye Cole, Elizabeth Benson Amete, Hon. Kingsley Kuku, Rukky Sanda, Zik Zulu Okafor, Patrick and Ireti Doyle, among others.

    BringBackOurGirls campaign: Monalisa Chinda leads protest in Lagos

    Top Nollywood actress, Monalisa Chinda, yesterday, led celebrities and entertainers in a fresh protest on the #BringBackOurGirls campaign at Allen Avenue, Ikeja, Lagos.

    The mother of one had earlier announced the venue, dress code and time of rally when she stated: “Dress code: Red caps, scarves and tops”.

    Also, popular Nollywood actress, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, who just returned from a business trip abroad, urged her colleagues to be part of the campaign.

    Speaking on her arrival at the airport, she said: “If you can, join us at the #BringBackOurGirls Lagos Rally at Allen Roundabout, Ikeja.”

    Over the last few days, more artistes have been joining the clamour for the release of the over 200 girls abducted from their hostel in Chibok Local Government Area of Borno State.

    Artistes present at the rally include notable rapper, Sasha P, Ebony Life TV boss, Mo Abudu and Hip hop singer, Banky W, among others.

    It will be recalled that on Tuesday, April 15, more than 200 female students were kidnapped from the Government Secondary School, Chibok, Bornu State by suspected Boko Haram insurgents.

    A large number of students were reportedly taken away in trucks into the Sambisa forest. Houses in Chibok were also burnt down during the incident.

    Following the incident, there have been cries from all over the world for the release of the girls from the militants’ enclave.

    The international union body of European students, yesterday, also joined in the campaign to bring back the abducted students.

    The school had been closed for four weeks prior to the attack due to the deteriorating security situation. However, students from different schools had been called in to sit for the final exams in physics when the incident happened.

    It has never been in doubt that there is a thin line between love and hate. And the line between fame and infamy is even thinner. Actress Monalisa Chinda and Lanre have not only ended their romantic relationship, they have also ended their business relationship. Last week, Monalisa confirmed the story when her publicist issued an official statement.

    The statement read: “We regret to officially announce the resignation of Nollywood actress, Monalisa Chinda from Monalisa Magazine, which also marks the end of her partnership with Mr. Lanre Nzeribe, due to ‘irreconcilable differences’. Over the past few months, both parties have made concerted efforts to retain their partnership, to no avail, which led to their mutual agreement that a separation would be the best course of action.

    “Though she has, so far, committed so much time, energy and resources into the project, it is high time she moved on as she pursues renewed ethos to raise her standards of professionalism and focus on projects closer to her heart. Monalisa Chinda extends her sincere appreciation to the entire staff of the company for the great working experience. She wishes Mr. Nzeribe and the staff all the best in their future endeavours. She also wishes to express her profound gratitude to her wonderful fans for their unreserved support through the years. ”

    But despite the reason being put forward for the collapse of the love affair by Monalisa’s publicist, insiders say that it was Lanre who pushed out the divorcee mother of one. He was said to have locked Monalisa out of his business offices where Monalisa shared as Editor-in Chief of the Monalisa Magazine.

    It will be recalled that Lanre, the beefy businessman and proprietor of the now near-comatose Abuja-based Lantana Transport Services, had in the past dated former screen goddess, Liz Benson. Dhitto former NTA big girl, Grace Egbagbe.

    Top Nollywood star, Monalisa Chinda, may have parted ways with her long-time lover and business partner, Lanre Nzeribe, following some irreconcilable differences.

     In a statement, her publicist, Isaac Oladipupo, the Executive Director of Media Wise Worldwide, said:  ”We regret to officially announce the resignation of Nollywood actress, Monalisa Chinda, from Monalisa Magazine, which also marks the end of her partnership with Mr. Lanre Nzeribe, due to irreconcilable professional differences.

    “Over the past few months, both parties have made concerted efforts to retain their partnership, to no avail, which led to their mutual agreement that a separation would be the best course of action.

    “Though she has, so far, committed so much time, energy and resources into the project, it is high time she moved on, as she pursues renewed ethos to raise her standards of professionalism and focus on projects closer to her heart.”

    The actress thanked the entire staff of the company for what she described as “the great working experience during the time.”

    THAT beautiful actress cum entrepreneur, Monalisa Chinda, is one of the shining stars in the nation’s movie industry, otherwise called Nollywood, is to state the obvious.

    What is news, however, is that the mother of one, in a recent interview with a national newspaper, was quoted to have said that popular socialite, Lanre Nzeribe, is only a friend to her.

    When asked to describe her relationship with Nzeribe, she said, “That is a personal decision. Some things are private-they are not meant to be discussed on the pages of newspapers. Lanre Nzeribe is only a friend and I won’t say more than that.”

    Perhaps, the actress was trying to dispel the rumour of any amorous relationship with Nzeribe, who has allegedly been linked with some other female celebrities in the country.

    Monalisa further revealed her plans for 2014, saying, “There is so much more to Monalisa than meets the eye. There is actually more to everyone than anyone could ever know because we all have what it takes to exceed our wildest dreams. We only limit ourselves in our minds.”

    IT is obvious that actress cum publisher, Monalisa Chinda, is leaving no stone unturned towards promoting her eponymous magazine, ‘Monalisa’.

    In realization of this dream, the mother of one recently visited TV personality, Iretiola Doyle, for an interview on her TV programme, Oge, as part of efforts to promote her new project.

    The beautiful actress later shared some photos from the interview session on her Instagram, informing fans to look out for the show that will be aired soon with the caption: “On the set of popular #TV brand (OGE) with Iretiola Doyle. Coming to your TV screen soon.”

    The magazine, which is sold for N5,000, was launched in Ghana and Nigeria, respectively in December, 2013. A graduate of Theatre Arts from the University of Port-Harcourt, her first major movie was Pregnant Virgin in 1996. Since she featured in Above The Law after her graduation in 2000, she has done several other movies.

    The handsome man, who once dated society lady, Grace Egbagbe, was reported to have parted ways with Chinda, one of Nollywood’s leading actresses, whose earlier divorcee from her former husband, Dejo Richards, was the object of media frenzy.

    Initially, Nzeribe and Chinda were said to be so serious that a permanent union was on the cards. But recently, tales of incompatibility rent the air. With Nzeribe’s presence at the launch of the new magazine, however, it became unclear whether they are back together as lovers or just as friends.
