    Moses praises Sturridge-Suarez partnership

Eagles striker Victor Moses has labeled Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suarez link-up play incredible as he watched both strikers pick apart Sunderland’s defence in their 3-1 win at the Stadium of Light.

Moses operated in the No.10 role as Brendan Rodgers’ side move into second place in the Barclays Premier League with Sturridge grabbing the opener and Suarez scoring two.

Moses feels their partnership can only go from strength to strength.

“We all know Suarez and Sturridge are both great strikers and probably two of the best strikers in the Premier League at the moment,” Moses told Liverpoolfc.com.

“Suarez coming back is a big boost for us and linking up with Sturridge up front is really vital for us this season.

“I think they can both do as well as they want this season as a pair of strikers. The most important thing is that they score for us. I can see them both scoring more goals in every game because their link-up play is incredible,” he added.

Moses joined the Reds on a loan deal which was completed on the last day of the transfer window.

Victor Moses played his part to ensure Liverpool record a 3-1 victory over Sunderland in an English Premier League game on Sunday September.

Luis Suarez hit a brace and Daniel Sturridge got one to secure maximum points for the Reds.

Daniel Sturridge opened scoring in the 28th minute to silence the home fans at the Stadium of Light before Luis Suarez doubled the score eight minutes later to ensure a 2-0 first half lead.

Giaccherini pulled one back for Sunderland just seven minutes after the break to give the boost the morale of the team and possibly get a draw.

Liverpool, who prior to the game have not scored a second half goal in the EPL, gained much of the possession with Moses forcing some saves.

The Nigeria international was however substituted for Raheem Sterling in the 74th minutes, before Suarez completed his brace in the 89th minute and record Liverpool’s first second half goal after six games.

  • NFF lists Moses as a ‘Chelsea’ player

NFF lists Moses as a ‘Chelsea’ player

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) may have committed another major error, as the release that listed the names of the Super Eagles players for the Ethiopia clash has Victor Moses as a “Chelsea” midfielder.

The flying winger, who has been in fine form for both club and country, was sent on loan to Liverpool on the last day of the transfer window, and has played two games for the Anfield giants.

In fact, Moses was among the goals as Liverpool held Swansea 2-2 in a Premiership game last Saturday.

However,it is not certain whether the ‘Chelsea’ listing meant that his letter of invitation was sent to the London club.

The Nigeria Football Federation have swiftly moved to correct the initial error in the Super Eagles list for the World Cup game against Ethiopia, by re-sending the full list, with Victor Moses now correctly tagged.

The new list sent by the NFF Director of Media, Demola Olajire reads:

And the Media Director gallantly added at the end of the listings:

“Very sincere apology to you all. Victor Moses plays for Liverpool FC. Got the list direct from Team Secretary and had the mind to change that. But it slipped”.

Super Eagles striker, Victor Mose made a goal scoring debut as Liverpool secured a 2-2 draw away to Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium on Monday.

The Nigerian international who is on a season-long loan deal from Chelsea was named in Brendan Rodgers’ starting XI. The 22 year old scored the team’s second in the 36th minute after Daniel Sturridge had cancelled out Jonjo Shelvey’s early goal.

Shelvey, playing against his former employers, opened the scoring. The former Reds star ploughed his way through the away defence and fired past Simon Mignolet from close-range.

But the goalscoring star soon went from hero to zero, as he allowed Sturridge to level proceedings 60 seconds later. The midfielder played a casual back-pass to Michel Vorm, and the England international pounced to bag his fourth goal in as many Premier League games.

Moses who was having an impressive debut almost helped the Reds to doubled the lead in the 24th minute, but saw his fine cross to Sturridge looked to head home from close-range, but Vorm made a superb stop.

Liverpool continued to press forward and Moses gave Brendan Rodgers’ side the lead in the 36th minute. The winger intercepted another poor Shelvey pass and raced forward, before smashing past Vorm from the edge of the box as Liverpool took to the dressing room with a 2-1 lead at half time.

Swansea defender, Shelvey make up for his earlier mistakes by setting up michu for the equalizer in the 64th minute.

As Liverpool continues its search for the winner, Moses was however substituted for Rahim Sterling in the 80th minute. Both teams however failed to add to the tally as the match finished at 2-2.

Newly recruited Liverpool FC of England’s attacking right winger Victor Moses, Nosa Igiebor, Efe Ambrose, Obinna Nsofor, Sunday Mba and Ahmed Musa were stuck at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja for hours due to flight delays.

The delay of the connecting flight from Abuja to Calabar on Tuesday evening forced the six stars who arrived the country from Europe to miss Super Eagles Tuesday evening training session in which 12 players were drilled by the chief coach Stephen Keshi.

They are, however, expected to train with the rest of the squad this morning and later in the evening having arrived Calabar late on Tuesday night. The arrival of the six stars swelled the list of players in the camp as at midnight on Tuesday to 18.

    …Happy with Anfield switch

Super Eagles attacker, Victor Moses, has expressed excitement at joining up with Liverpool on transfer deadline day, goal.com reports.

The Nigeria international made a late move to Anfield Road after falling down the pecking order at Chelsea since the return of Jose Mourinho to the side.

Moses will spend a year in Liverpool without the option of a permanent deal, something which shows he might still have a future at Stamford Bridge.

“Really excited to be joining Liverpool this season and can’t wait to make my debut now,” Moses tweeted with a photo of him holding up the club’s jersey on Monday.

The 23-year-old is key to Nigeria’s plans for next year’s World Cup and will see this move to Liverpool as a means to guarantee playing time in preparation for Brazil.

Keshi rues Moses ‘snub’ at Chelsea

Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi , has expressed serious concerns over Victor Moses snub at his English Premier League club Chelsea.

Moses has not been listed for Chelsea since the beginning of the new season and was also not part of the squad for Friday’s UEFA Super Cup clash against Bayern Munich.

“I am worried about Moses situation at Chelsea,” Keshi told MTNFootball.com

“I called him the other day to know what was wrong and sincerely the boy is also concerned. They had said he reported late to Chelsea after the South Africa game and that is not true because Moses confirmed to me that he did not miss any training session.”

Keshi added: “I don’t know the plans of Jose Morinho but sincerely am worried at the continued lack of action for Moses. The boy wants to play, he loves to play and it hurts that he is not playing because we need him to be playing week in, week out.”

In the meantime, West Bromwich Albion is the latest club to be linked with the unsettled Nigerian winger.

Steve Clarke is considering a move to land Moses after saying WBA do not stand a chance to land Romelo Lukaku.

The 2013 AFCON hero has been on the wanted list of several clubs namely Liverpool, Everton, West Ham Southampton and Hull City.

    Mikel, Moses get action date

The Super Eagles duo of John Obi Mikel and Victor Moses as well as their Chelsea teammates now have a date for their Capital One Cup third round tie against Swindon Town after drawing bye in the earlier exchanges.

The Blues are scheduled to face the League one side away from home on Tuesday 24 September 2013.

To make it to this stage Swindon caused an upset when Alex Pritchard’s injury-time goal sealed victory over QPR.

The Championship home team were booed off by their own fans after a dismal display at Loftus Road that saw them lose to the lower League side

Hoping for another upset, Swindon will host Chelsea at the the County Ground where kick-off is already fixed for 7.45pm (local time).

Chelsea have played Swindon in the League Cup once before – 50 years ago when the team lost 3-0 in another away tie.

Sunderland, Stoke bids: Chelsea want N2bn for Moses

    •Blues reject N1bn Everton offer

We understand that three Premier League clubs have made bids for Chelsea midfielder Victor Moses after Jose Mourinho put him on the transfer list.

The Blues are said to be after £8m for the Nigerian but we hear no club has come near to that fee as of yet.

According to wordonthepitch sources, Chelsea will accept the highest offer which our contact has told us is Stoke at this current time, but I can confirm that Sunderland are the most interested in the midfielder with DiCanio feeling he could be the creative player he has been after, but have not placed a bid yet.

Although we can not confirm the other clubs, we understand that Everton have had a bid rejected of around £4m as it was considered too low, we don’t know if they will come back with a second offer but Martinez is keen on a reunion from their time at Wigan but has other targets in mind.
