The Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Enugu, Most Rev. Dr. Callistus Onaga, has called on Christians to continue living a life reflective of Christ’s resurrection by abstaining from sin, just as they did during the recently concluded Lenten season.
Delivering his Easter message in Enugu, Bishop Onaga emphasized that the resurrection of Jesus Christ brought salvation and the promise of eternal life to humanity.
“Jesus died to save mankind from death,” he said. “He died on Good Friday and resurrected on the third day. The core message is that Jesus Christ truly rose from the dead.”
”After his earthly life, he died the way he died through crucifixion and rose on the third day as he promised. By the grace of God he was able to overpower the devil.

“Resurrection of Christ gave us the hope that everybody will die, and after the death, will resurrect. Christ’s resurrection is a fulfilment of his promise that after this life, there is another life and that life is eternal. It is not limited to any condition. It is in the resurrection that the work of salvation takes place.
“So, as we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ today, I urge you not to forget those things we did during lent after the lenten period. The resurrection and the life of the resurrection should be continued. That should represent the real life of eternity,” he said.
“Let us not forget those things we did for this great feast. We should drop all those bad habits. Resurrection and the life of the resurrection should reflect good aspect of your fasting. Those things that were not good that you dropped you should continue to promote because that should represent the real life of eternity. That should represent the life of a good person, it should represent the life of a good child of God,” Bishop Onaga said.
