    Mountain top varsity all for educational, spiritual, moral excellence – VC

    Mountain Top University (MTU) has been  described as a beacon of excellence in higher education committed to moulding global scholars who will make impactful contributions to the society, Vice chancellor Professor Elijah Ayolabi has stated. 

    He said the institution was established  to provide a place where students could excel not only academically but also spiritually  and morally. 

    He spoke at the 10th matriculation ceremony of the institution at Prayer City on Lagos-Ibadan expressway. 

    MTU admitted and matriculated  680 undergraduate students into 28 programmes with 85  for postgraduate programmes,

    totalling 765 students for 2024/2025 academic session.

    Ayolabi said MTU was committed to offering a world-class  education that integrates academic excellence with character development.

    Ayolabi urged the matriculating students to be purposeful,  diligent, hardworking, disciplined resilient and guided by the values of integrity, excellence and service pillars that will support them in the institution and beyond.  

    He urged matriculants to constantly  focus on positive goals , be creative innovators with a view to becoming change-makers and good leaders that will make postive contributions to the country and world at large.

    The Vice Chancellor added that since University life is  about developing a whole person, and not just books, MTU offers a variety of extracurricular  activities  to nurture students talents and interests  in sports, music, drama, writing and leadership development as well as ample opportunities for students to engage, grow and contribute to the wider community.

    The Vice Chancellor commended the Chancellor and General Overseer of Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries, Dr Daniel Kolawole Olukoya (Professor of Biotechnology) and his wife Dr.

     (Mrs.);Folashade Elizabeth Olukoya, for their unflinching and fatherly support.

    His words: “Our Every Student A Musician (EMS) programme is one such initiative, ensuring that every student masters a  musical instrument before graduation, helping to foster creativity and discipline.  Additionally, our vocational training programmes are designed to give our students diverse skills that will make them self- reliant and capable of creating their own opportunities”

     “Mountain Top University is more than just an academic institution; it is a place where you will discover your purpose, develop your potential, and become a force for good in the world .

    ” We are committed to providing  a safe, supportive, and conducive environment where children can excel academically, grow spiritually and develop the skills needed to succeed in the future.

Yet, philanthropy has proven benefits not just for society but also for the giver, enhancing well-being, reducing stress, and even extending life expectancy.     One individual who embodies this spirit is Prince (Dr.) Alex Mbata, a renowned entrepreneur, politician, and philanthropist. As the Managing Director and CEO of ABM Global Ltd and a devoted member of the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministry (MFM), Mbata has consistently sought to uplift his community through his philanthropic endeavours.

    Recognising his significant contributions, the Mountain Top University (MTU), a prestigious Christian institution in Ogun State, awarded him an Honorary Doctor of Letters (D.Litt) during its sixth convocation ceremony.

    The ceremony, held at Prayer City, celebrated 378 graduates and underscored the institution’s dedication to producing morally sound, academically excellent individuals. Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State delivered the keynote address, urging Nigerians to innovate and serve others. Dr. Daniel Kolawole Olukoya, General Overseer of the Mountain of Fire Bible Church and Chancellor of MTU, commended Dr. Mbata for his unwavering support for the university and the church.

    In his response, Mbata expressed gratitude for the recognition and announced a new commitment: the construction and donation of a 100-bed female hostel to the university. This pledge adds to his substantial contributions and reflects his dedication to improving the educational experience for MTU students.

    50 bag First Class as Mountain Top University holds 6th convocation

    Mountain Top University (MTU) held its 6th convocation ceremony, awarding degrees to 378 graduates from the 2023/2024 academic session and recognizing academic excellence with special prizes. 

    Among the graduates, 50 achieved first-class degrees, 144 received second-class (Upper Division), 127 earned second-class (Lower Division), and 24 graduated with third-class degrees. Additionally, the institution conferred 17 postgraduate diplomas, 14 master’s degrees, and 2 doctorate degrees. 

    In recognition of contributions to the university’s growth, MTU awarded a Degree of Doctor of Letters (D.Litt.) to Alex Mbata and presented distinguished service awards to Prof. Olajide Ayinla and Hon. Justice Oluwatoyin Odusanya. 

    The valedictorian for the session, Oni Toluwani, from the Department of Food Science and Technology, emerged as the top performer with an impressive CGPA of 4.98. 

    Chancellor Dr. Daniel Olukoya, in his address, praised the graduates for their dedication and perseverance, attributing their achievements to divine guidance. “Mountain Top University was founded on divine inspiration to serve as a center of academic and spiritual excellence. Today, we celebrate the fruits of this mission. Though your journey was not without challenges, God has been your strength, and you are now poised for a new chapter in life,” he said. 

    Vice-Chancellor Prof. Elijah Ayolabi urged the graduates to embody character, integrity, and excellence, emphasizing their roles as ambassadors of the university. “Today marks not just the end of one journey but the beginning of another. Shine brightly and make a lasting impact wherever you go,” he said.

    Prof. Ayolabi reiterated MTU’s commitment to holistic education, integrating academic, spiritual, and entrepreneurial development. He highlighted unique university initiatives such as the “Every Student a Musician” (ESM) program and the entrepreneurship center, which equip students to thrive in a globalized world. 

    Delivering the convocation lecture, the Governor of Taraba State, Agbu Kefas, emphasized the importance of instilling a purpose-driven mindset in graduates.

    “True success lies not only in personal achievements but in using your talents and opportunities to inspire change and make a lasting impact on your communities and the world,” he said. 

    Valedictorian Oni Toluwani encouraged her peers to remain resilient and committed to purpose-driven leadership. She urged them to embrace technological advancements while staying grounded in values of compassion, integrity, and service to humanity. 

    The convocation highlighted Mountain Top University’s dedication to producing graduates who excel academically, spiritually, and socially, prepared to lead and innovate in a dynamic world.

    Mountain Top University to confer degrees on 378 students

    Mountain Top University (MTU) is set to graduate 378 students at its 6th convocation ceremony on December 19th, which will be held at the university’s multipurpose hall.

    During a media briefing on Monday, MTU Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Elijah Ayolabi, provided a detailed breakdown of the graduating class. Of the 378 graduates, 50 earned first-class degrees, 144 graduated with second-class upper degrees, 127 with second-class lower degrees, and 24 with third-class degrees.

    Prof. Ayolabi also revealed that Dr. Agbu Kefas, the executive governor of Taraba State, will deliver the convocation lecture. 

    Also, in recognition of their significant contributions to the university’s growth, Prince Alex Mbata will be awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Letters (D.Litt.), while Prof. Olajide Ayinla and Hon. Justice Oluwatoyin Odusanya will receive distinguished service awards.

    The ceremony will also include the awarding of Ph.D. degrees in Accounting and Mass Communication to two students from the College of Humanities, Management, and Social Sciences.

    The event will be accompanied by various activities, including a musical performance, exhibition, football match, a convocation play, and a Vice-Chancellor’s cocktail for the graduating students.

    Prof. Ayolabi attributed the university’s successes to its unwavering commitment to delivering high-quality education in a safe, serene environment, supported by world-class facilities and equipment for learning and research.

    “Our food science and technology students came first in the ReFoSTS (10th Regional Food Science and Technology summit 2024 quiz competition), while Miss Ajayi Iteoluwa, a student of IRPM won the 2024 under 25 years CEO/Entrepreneur. Beyond academics, our students have distinguished themselves in various domains, including research, innovation, entrepreneurship and community service. This reflects our commitment to providing a holistic education that prepares our students to excel in a dynamic global environment,” he said. 

    He added: “Over the years Mountain Top University has continued to make significant strides in academics, research and infrastructural development. We have established mutually benefiting partnership with international universities and industry leaders to enhance research, innovation and student exchange programmes,” he said.

    Prof. Ayolabi noted that the National Universities Commission ( NUC) has approved additional 5 academic programmes in the university, which includes nursing science, medical laboratory science, nutrition and dietetics, public health and biomedical technology. 

    “Admission has commenced into these programmes with about 150 students enrolled in the ongoing 2024/2025 academic session. Similarly we secured NUC accreditation for all existing programmes,” he said. 

    Prof. Ayolabi reiterated the university’s dedication to nurturing talented individuals who can drive positive change.

    “As we celebrate our achievements we remain resolute in our vision to be a dynamic centre of academic excellence, producing globally competitive graduates. Mountain Top University will continue to advance its mission of nurturing men and women with specialised skills and value systems to impact their communities positively,” he said.

    The College of Humanities, Management and Social Sciences (CHMS) at the Mountain Top University, Prayer City, Ogun State, has held its second international conference themed, ‘Initiating Innovation in Digitality through the Humanities,  Management and Social Sciences for Sustainable Development.’”

    The Vice-Chancellor of Mountain Top University, Professor  Elijah Ayolabi, while declaring the conference open revealed that the solution to the challenges presently confronting Nigeria and the world at large requires an intersection of innovation, digitality, and sustainability.

    He added that initiating digital innovations for sustainable development is a necessity for the present world, noting that traditional approaches are no longer sufficient.

    Highlighting some of these global challenges including terrorism, wars, hunger, poverty, fake news, climate change, and social inequality, he called for new solutions that leverage the power of digital technology to drive sustainable development. 

    Ayolabi urged the need for collaboration among various fields of learning to create innovative and multidisciplinary research activities that will holistically address societal challenges and come up with better long-lasting solutions.

    Mountain Top University holds 5th convocation, graduates 348 students

    Mountain Top University is set to graduate no fewer than 348 students at its 5th Convocation scheduled for December 21st at 10:00 am in the Multipurpose Hall. 

    Giving a breakdown of the graduating students, at a media briefing, held on Monday to herald the ceremony, MTU Vice Chancellor Prof. Elijah Ayolabi, noted that a total of 36 students bagged first-class degrees, 155 graduated with second-class upper degrees, 120 with second-class lower degrees, and 18 with third class degree.

    According to Prof. Ayolabi, former Governor of Akwa-Ibom state, Emmanuel Udom, would be delivering the Convocation lecture themed: “Optimizing your potential in a challenging future.”

    Appreciating their contribution to the growth of the school, Ogun state governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, and Engr. Michael Bayo Akinola would be conferred with Honorary Degrees of Doctor of Letters (D.Litt) Honoris Causa of Mountain Top University.  

    Also, the award of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in Microbiology and Finance, would be given to two of the pioneer students: Segun Ogunbiyi and Oludotun Orisanwo.

    The ceremony will be marked with other activities such as a music fiesta, exhibition, and football match, on the 19th, a Convocation play and a Vice Chancellor’s Cocktail for the graduating students, on the 20th.

    Ayolabi stated that the successes being recorded by the University are anchored on the unwavering focus it places on providing high-quality teaching supported by a safe, Serene, and beautiful environment, world-class facilities, and equipment for learning and research.

    He said: “Our graduates are special in a lot of ways. Besides academics, the graduates have acquired other skills such as entrepreneurial skills, playing instruments skills, farming skills, baking and culinary skills, computer fashion and tailoring skills, and others.

    “The university has designed these extra programmes to empower the students to be able to stand out through self-employment in an already saturated global and Nigerian labour market.”
