The Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary of Lagos State Education District V, Mr. Dauda Hassan, has called for renewed efforts to promote Yoruba Arts and Culture to ensure the preservation of the region’s heritage for future generations.
Speaking at a cultural programme titled “Ayajo Ojo Asa Yoruba” organised by the district, Hassan emphasised that culture forms the foundation of identity and must be actively preserved and passed down.
“As we celebrate today, let us recognise the importance of language in preserving our heritage. The Yoruba language is a vital part of our culture, and it is our responsibility to ensure its continuity. Let us work together to promote Yoruba Arts and Culture and to ensure our rich heritage is passed on to future generations,” he said.
In a related event, during the district’s Subject Association Day, Hassan encouraged subject association executives to organise conferences, workshops, and symposia aimed at fostering professional excellence.
He warned school principals against preventing teachers from attending subject association meetings unless due to urgent official duties.

“All subject associations must return to their schools to re-strategise and reignite excellence in all areas,” he stated, adding that teachers who neglect their association responsibilities should be held accountable.
Also speaking at the event, Mrs. Asiboku Aderunke, a Christian Religious Studies teacher and Director with the Lagos State Government, urged students to apply the moral lessons they learn in school in their daily lives.
“We’re here to exhibit all the subjects we’ve been teaching these students, to help them internalise the moral values they should display in society, their families, and the nation,” she said.
