    Muazam’ fires goal No 10 in NPFL

    Alhassan Ibrahim ‘Muazam’ fired his 10th goal of the NPFL season as Akwa United brought down to earth leaders MFM FC 2-0 in continuation of the league today.

    ‘Muazam’ hit target after just 18 minutes, before Ubong Friday made it 2-0 for hosts Akwa United in the second half.

    Akwa United maintained fifth place on the table with 29 points, six points behind leaders Plateau United.

    Super Eagles chief coach Salisu Yusuf watched the game at the ‘Nest of Champions’ in Uyo.

    El Kanemi midfielder Matthias also netted his 10th goal of the campaign as he proved to again be the match winner at home against ABS FC.

    Obaje, ‘Muazam’, Barnabas Imenger head for Tunisian club Etoile

    Nigeria league hotshot Godwin Obaje, Ibrahim Alhassan ‘Muazam’ and Barnabas Imenger will try out with Tunisian club Etoile du Sahel this week.
    Obaje, who finished top scorer of the NPFL with 18 goals, failed to bag a contract with top Russian club Spartak Moscow after he did not pass a medical.
    Former Nigeria U-17 and U-20 star Ibrahim Alhassan ‘Muazam’ rose to prominence as the star of the 2013 Golden Eaglets that he was compared to the legendary Nwankwo Kanu.
    Imenger, 25, who has posted a brief stint in Sweden, has been capped at full international level by Nigeria.
    He is the son of former Eagles striker Barnabas Imenger Snr.
    The three strikers are to undergo two-week trials at Etoile, who have also contacted Enugu Rangers on star striker Chisom Egbuchulam.
    Rangers have asked for a transfer fee $500,000.

    Muazam’s brace help Wikki beat 8-man Pillars 3-1

    Nigeria league leaders, Wikki Tourists consolidated their top spot on the table after they came from behind to beat eight-man Kano Pillars 3-1 at home on Sunday courtesy of a brace by debut boy ‘Muazam’ Alhassan Ibrahim.

    Wikki remain top of the pile on 41 points from 22 matches.

    The reverse fixture in the first round ended 2-1 in favour of Pillars.

    Striker Emanuel Edmund put visiting Kano Pillars ahead in the 35th minute, when he fired home from outside the box.

    Pillars were reduced to 10 men when defender Jamiu Alimi was sent off for a second booking in the 48th minute.

    Debutant ‘Muazam’ drew Wikki level in the 77th minute with a header, before Abubakar Lawal made it 2-1 for the home team in the 84th minute from a penalty spot.

    ‘Muazam’ then grabbed his brace in stoppage time.

    Another Pillars player was sent off in the 82nd minute, before his teammate Tijjani Adamu was sent off in the 90th minute.

    ‘Muazam’ set for Wikki debut against Pillars

    Former Nigeria U-20 star, ‘Muazam’Alhassan Ibrahim is in line to make his debut for league leaders, Wikki Tourists on Sunday against his hometown club, Kano Pillars.

    ‘Muazam’, who shone with the Nigeria U-17 three years ago, got his clearance to feature for Wikki on Thursday and he will now come face-to-face with Pillars, who have attempted severally to sign him.

    The enterprising forward is back in the country after a short stint in Europe.

    Sunday’s showdown should also hold some emotions for Wikki coach, Abdu ‘Soccer’ Maikaba, who is also from Kano and assisted Okey Emordi at Pillars.

    Pillars won the reverse fixture 1-0.
