Sacked Kano SSG accuses governor, Kwankwaso of betrayal

Threatens to expose them ‘when the time comes’

Alhaji Abdullahi Baffa Bichi, who was recently sacked as Secretary to the Kano State Government (SSG), is now threatening to have his own pound of flesh on Governor Abba Yusuf and the leader of New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

An angry Bichi vowed yesterday to expose both Yusuf and his political godfather, Kwankwaso.

The ex-SSG claimed to have documentary evidence to nail them.

“I am happy I left the office in peace. But let me be clear: this is not the best time to talk. At the right time, we will expose them,” he told his supporters in Kano shortly on his return from Saudi Arabia.

“I have documents, videos and voice notes that will show everyone who they really are,” he said.

He claimed to have been betrayed.

Bichi had fallen out of favour with Kwankwaso following allegation that he was working against the interest of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) led by the former Kano State Governor.

He was subsequently suspended by the party.

Suspended with him at the time was the then Transportation Commissioner Muhammad Diggol.

Governor Yusuf eventually fired Bichi; Chief of Staff Shehu Sagagi; Finance Commissioner Ibrahim Jibril Fagge; Culture and Tourism Commissioner Ladidi Ibrahim Garko; Information and Internal Affairs  Commissioner Baba Halilu Dantiye; Special Duties Commissioner Shehu Aliyu Yammedi; and Rural and Community Development  Commissioner Abbas Sani Abbas on December 12,2024.

The governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Bature Sanusi, said in a statement that Bichi was dropped on health grounds.

Engr. Muhammad Diggol resigned on January 4, 2025 after he was redeployed from the Ministry of Transportation to the Ministry of Project Monitoring and Evaluation.

Diggol was also fingered as part of the group said to be opposed to Kwankwaso’s alleged overbearing influence on Governor Yusuf’s government.

Bichi said his evidence would reveal the inner workings of the relationship between Yusuf and Kwankwaso.

Bichi’s threat immediately became a subject of discussion across Kano yesterday.
