    Nimrod returns as Nigeria Volleyball Federation elects new board

    The Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF) has elected new board members to steer the affairs of the federation, with Engineer Musa Nimrod returning as President for another four years.

    The elections, which held at the Indoor Sports Hall of the MKO Abiola National Stadium, Abuja, yesterday produced Prince Babatunde Omisore as 1st Vice President and Architect Adamu Tenimu as 2nd Vice President.

    Other representatives elected into the board include DCP Stephen Hasso (Rtd) for the North East, Bolcit Amakiri for the North Central, Kingsley Nwosu for the South East, and Famous Daunemigha for the South South. Nimrod also doubles as the North West representative, while Omisore represents the South West.

    Dauda Saje emerged as the Players’ Representative, with Samuel Timothy securing the Technical Representative position.

    The new leadership is expected to consolidate on the federation’s recent strides in developing the sport across the country.

    Speaking after his re-election, Nimrod assured that the new administration will introduce fresh initiatives to further raise the profile of volleyball in Nigeria. He noted that the focus will be on graduate development across all categories, from U-15 up to the senior level, rather than dwelling on past achievements.

    “With elections now concluded, our focus is strictly on action. We await the formal inauguration by the National Sports Commission, after which the newly elected board will commence full operations,” Nimrod said.

    He explained that major volleyball tours will be strengthened with the support of experienced staff and mentors, while more sponsors are expected to come on board to back the federation’s programmes.

    Nimrod also pointed to the federation’s packed calendar for the rest of the year, which includes the U-21 Volleyball Championship in Mexico, the U-18 World Championship in Qatar, the Senior World Volleyball Championship in Australia, and the African Youth Games in Angola. Nigerian athletes will further represent the country at the World Schools Games in China.

    “We are not dwelling on past achievements but rather on what lies ahead. Over the next four years, our focus will remain on graduate development. We already have structured pathways across categories from U-15, U-17, U-19, U-20, U-23 up to the senior level,” Nimrod added.

    He added that with the elections concluded, the federation awaits the formal inauguration by the National Sports Commission, after which the newly elected board will commence full operations.

    Nimrod  offers educational  support to Kaduna Volleyball players

    In yet another historic fear, the Chairman Kaduna State Volleyball Association (KADSVA), Engr. Musa Nimrod, has provided education support to young volleyball players in the state.

    Beneficiaries are 13 WAEC students and 18 JAMB hopefuls.

    A statement signed by Okpani Jacob Onjewu Dickson, member of KADSVA Board, said that also, monthly allowances of eight volleyball players in the state have been paid, with each receiving N150,000.

    The statement informed that the Secretary of KADSVA, Adamu Mohammed who disclosed this, said a total of N1.9m was used for the  JAMB and WAEC candidates.

    Nimrod, who is also the President Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF), Secretary General Zone 3 (CAVB) and President African Beach Volleyball, did the noble gesture, in his quest to see volleyball players perform well both on the field and in the classroom.

    For a breakdown of the beneficiaries, payment for WAEC was given to 13 students at N40,000 each and for JAMB, 18 students got N10,000 each, making a total amount of N700,000:00.

    Similarly, Engr. Nimrod has paid monthly allowances to eight players.

    Each player got N150,000:00 through transfer for their allowances for six months at N25,000 ,monthly making a total of N1,200,000:00.
