Musa scores in Leicester victory over Palace

AHMED Musa scored his first goal for Leicester City as the champions beat 3-1 Crystal Palace in the English Premier League yesterday.

Musa struck on 42 minutes as the Foxes took the lead in a tight first half at the King Power Stadium.

The Nigeria forward struck from outside the area following good work by Algerian striker, Islam Slimani who displayed impressive upper body strength before teeing him up with a delightful ball.

Musa had the option of passing to Riyah Mahrez on his right but showed the belief and composure of a veteran to fire past the Palace goalkeeper, Steve Mandanda from 20 yards out.

It was Musa’s first goal for Leicester since completing his move from Russian club, CSKA Moscow in the summer.

Champions Leicester City left striker Jamie Vardy on the bench but capped a fine week with a third home league win of the season, beating Crystal Palace 3-1 thanks to goals by Ahmed Musa, Shinji Okazaki and Christian Fuchs. After continuing their 100 percent start in the Champions League, Leicester’s disappointing domestic form came back under scrutiny and they responded emphatically.

Leicester had created little until three minutes before halftime when Musa lashed home an unstoppable shot from Islam Slimani’s set-up to open his account for the club.

…. Musa slammed for poor showing

FORMER Manchester United goalkeeper, Peter Schmeichel, has slammed Ahmed Musa for his unimpressive performance against Chelsea Saturday.
Musa was handed his second start of the season for Leicester City as the reigning EPL champions suffered a 3-0 loss at Stamford Bridge, their fourth defeat of the campaign.
And Schmeichel thinks the Nigeria international didn’t do enough to justify his place in the starting ahead of the duo of Islam Slimani and Riyad Mahrez.
“Musa hasn’t done enough to justify his starting place in the team but obviously Ranieri has the Champions League in mind to think of with the team that played against Chelsea,” the Danish legend said during his half time analysis of the game.

IMPRESSIVE MUSA starts Premiership on losing note

NIGERIA international, Ahmed Musa, was on the losing side as the Premier League got off to a thrilling start on Saturday with defending champions, Leicester City, taking on newly promoted Hull City.

Musa, who played all 90 minutes at the KC Stadium, was one of the stand-out performers in the season-opener but his effort was unable to save Leicester from going down to an opening day defeat as Hull City claimed a 2-1 victory.

It was Robert Snodgrass’ second half goal that effectively condemned Musa and his Leicester teammates to defeat.

The first half was lacklustre for the premier league champions as they had all the possession but were slow and not swift as witnessed last season.

Leicester’s record signing Musa showed his lightning pace when he beat Livermore down the left but Jamie Vardy miss-timed his cut back as the Tigers survive.

Musa again was involved as he latched onto a loose ball in the final third and again played the ball into Vardy’s part but the England forward blazed the ball over the bar.

However, Hull went into the lead just before half-time as Snodgrass corner was connected with a header by David which Kasper Schmeichel pushed into the path of Hernandez and Diomande and both applied a bicycle kick at the same time to score but the goal was later awarded to Diomande.

The Foxes started the second half on fire as Gray earned a penalty within 15 seconds of the restart and Riyad Mahrez stepped up to convert with ease.
