    Mustapha Abdullahi dedicates goal to teammates

    Nigeria Under 23 international Mustapha Abdullahi has dedicated his first – ever goal in the colours of the national team to his teammates, and has stressed that he would not have scored if his colleagues had not assisted him.

    Ibrahima Keita gave the Senegalese the lead seven minutes from time, barely three minutes after Mustapha Abdullahi replaced Enyimba star Kingsley Sokari, before the left back equalised for Nigeria in the fourth minute of stoppage time.

    “First of all thanks to the exalted mighty Allah for me to score a wonderful goal today against Senegal, I am very happy today, ” Mustapha Abdullahi told allnigeriasoccer.com.

    “I dedicate this goal to my teammates who also worked with me to get the goal because one man can’t play against eleven men.”

    The Spotlight FC defender has admitted that coach Samson Siasia got him fired up before he stepped out onto the Stade Municipal de Kintélé, Brazzaville turf in the second half.

    “The coach is such a great man who always wants his players to play according to instructions, which is very good for the team.

    “So he told me to be calm and play nicely and if I get an opportunity I should use it, ” Mustapha Abdullahi said.

    Abdullahi joined the Dream Team from Portugal,where he went to discuss with an unnamed club, and he is expected to return to Europe to finalise talks with the team after the All Africa Games (AAG).

     

  • Female suicide bomber, nine others killed in Yobe blast

    A teenage female suicide bomber hit a local market in Yobe State on Tuesday, killing herself and nine others.

    23 people were also seriously wounded in the incident, eyewitnesses said.

    The bomber targeted the grains section of the Wagir Market in Gujba local government area of the state and detonated the Improvised Explosive Device (IED) hidden in her body, killing herself along with other innocent traders at about 11:00am on Tuesday.

    “She came and entered the grains market (Kasuwan Hatse) in the Wagir market where people gathered to purchase food stuff for the fasting and detonated the bomb in the middle of plenty people,” Mustapha Abdullahi who survived the attack told our correspondent  at the Specialist Hospital , Damaturu.

    Shettima Adamu , one of the  commercial drivers that brought the victims to hospital, said he counted more than 10 people dead bodies at the scene of the attack.

    “I was close to the scene when it all happened. I heard the terrible sound and got confused. We rushed to the scene. So many dead people were scatted all over the place including the suicide bomber. She is a very small girl of about 12 years. I started counting the dead bodies, but I couldn’t continue.

    “But I counted over 10 bodies before I stopped.  We carried some people to the hospital from the scene of the attack. We brought 23 people here that were injured,” he told journalists.

    The Medical Director of Sani Abacha Specialist Hospital, Garba Fika, confirmed that 26 injured victims were brought to the hospital.

    He said four victims will be referred to Federal Medical Centre, Nguru, for proper  medical attention.

    Flying Eagles left-back, Mustapha Abdullahi , has got a big chance to join Spanish La Liga side Granada CF, africanFootball.com reports.

    The Spotlight of Katsina defender flew out of Nigeria Thursday night to Spain, where he will undergo trials for a pro contract with Granada.

    “’Musty’ is already 18 and so he is at Granada to try out for a professional contract,” a source informed africanFootball.com

    “Granada needs a left-back immediately and if he impressed, he will get a contract.”

    Mustapha featured at last year’s African U-17 Championship in Morocco and has established himself at left back in the current Flying Eagles team coached by Manu Garba.

    He is fast, highly spirited and loves to drive forward to join the attack.
