    NAF strikes kill terrorists, destroy hideouts in Borno

    The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) component of Operation Hadin Kai, a military onslaught against Boko Haram in the North East, has neutralised scores of terrorists in the Sambisa general area and the Southern Tumbuns in Borno State.

    It also destroyed terrorists’ infrastructure and hideouts in the areas.

    NAF’s spokesman, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday.

    He said that the air strikes were executed at the two terrorist strongholds on April 15.

    Ejodame said: “The first strike occurred at approximately 5:30 a.m. in Kollaram, a known stronghold of insurgents. Intelligence reports, supported by surveillance footage, confirmed the presence of high-value terrorist commanders in the area.

    “Several structures, some equipped with solar panels, were identified as active terrorist hubs. Nigerian Air Force assets carried out a precision strike on the location, eliminating several fighters and disabling key infrastructure.

    “A second precision strike followed at about 3:55 pm in Arra, Sambisa. Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance missions had earlier detected clusters of terrorists, and real-time visuals confirmed the significant presence. Precision-guided munitions were employed, resulting in the effective destruction of targets and disruption of the group’s operational capabilities.”

    According to him, the “back-to-back missions” were part of a sustained air campaign designed to “erode terrorist capabilities, dismantle leadership structures, and eliminate sanctuaries across the country.

    The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has trained over 1,500 personnel in various safety-related disciplines, including fire safety and prevention.

    The Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, announced this on Wednesday, at the handing over ceremony of refurbished and upgraded fire trucks, at the Mogadishu Cantonment, in Abuja.

    Air Marshal Abubakar said upgrading of the equipment underscored his commitment to building a safety-conscious force.

    He said: “This event is not merely a symbolic gesture, but a visible demonstration of our unrelenting commitment to operational readiness, safety, and enhanced emergency response capability. 

    “It is indeed a testament to the fulfilment of my command philosophy to ‘transform the NAF into an agile and resilient force that effectively meets the airpower demands of national security in all operational environments.”’

    “The overarching objective of my command philosophy is to reposition the Nigerian Air Force to effectively fulfil its constitutional mandate of defending the territorial integrity of our nation through the air. In pursuit of this imperative, my administration has placed air operations at the heart of our strategic focus, with particular emphasis on fleet expansion, combat readiness, and operational safety.”

    The NAF boss said the NAF was undertaking a comprehensive overhaul of fire safety equipment to ensure seamless and secure air operations across all units.

    This, according to him, is in addition to establishing a centralized Fire Safety Monitoring and Evaluation Framework, which would be integrated into NAF’s well-established Safety Management System (SMS).

    “We are confident that the implementation of these reforms will lead to a significant reduction in fire incidents across Nigerian Air Force bases nationwide, thereby reinforcing the safety and effectiveness of our operations,” he said.

    Air Marshal Abubakar said that refurbished and upgraded fire trucks would complement these efforts by providing NAF firefighters with dependable and capable equipment.

    He said: “Let me emphasise that these trucks were not merely refurbished cosmetically but were comprehensively upgraded. Some of these vehicle now have components of even higher capacity than when they were originally acquired. This intervention will not only extend their service life but also significantly enhance their capacity for swift and effective emergency response.”

    Earlier in his remarks, Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer or Afrodezt Nigeria Limited, Mazi Emmanuel Olugbuo, said the company overhauled the fire trucks to meet contemporary standards. 

    “We upgraded both mechanical, electrical, overhauling, replacement and upgrading of the pump system from analog to present modern fire fighting trucks,” he said.

    “We also reconverted an old fire truck that was manufactured in 1982-83 and I brought it back, installed a modern pumping system that is 2022-2023 standard. That are what we are looking at today.”

    He thanked the NAF leadership for entrusting the company with the project and pledged to consistently meet the service’s standards.

    A statement by NAF’s Spokesman, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, said that, during the visit, the Commanders of the NAF’s frontline units, briefed the the CAS on recent operational gains, and “showcase the strategic value of precision air strikes and close air support.”

    The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) College of Nursing Sciences’ (NAFCONS) has achieved a remarkable 100% pass rate in national nursing license examination, showcasing the institution’s commitment to excellence in nursing education.

    Commandant of NAFCONS, Squadron Leader Boyi Elisha, announced this during the matriculation ceremony for National Diploma I (Set 6) students of NAFCONS, in Kaduna yesterday.

    He said the outstanding performance reflects the college’s dedication to producing highly skilled and competent nursing professionals.

    A statement by Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame said the Commandant of NAFCONS, thanked the Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, and regulatory agencies for their sustained support to the college.

    In his remarks, Air Marshal Abubakar urged the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) to adopt NAFCONS pioneering “Air Mobile First Aid” training as a national standard.

    The CAS who was represented by the Chief of Medical Services, Air Vice Marshal Anthony Ekpe, said the training, which he said was first in Nigeria, has the potential to revolutionise emergency healthcare across the country.

    He said: “This initiative is not just a military innovation, it is a national asset. It is time we scale this program beyond NAFCONS, making it a cornerstone in our national nursing curriculum. The future of emergency healthcare in Nigeria depends on it.”

    The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Component of Operation Fansan Yanma (OPFY), a military operation against terrorists and bandits in the North West, has renovated a classroom unit at Kurhundu Primary School in Batagarawa Local Government Area of Katsina State.

    The NAF also donated learning materials to pupils to improve education and help the community.

    According to NAF’s spokesman, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, this initiative is part of the NAF’s efforts to adopt a non-kinetic approach, focusing on community engagement to boost operational effectiveness. 

    This move aligns with the NAF’s broader commitment to enhancing national security and promoting peace.

    Ejodame said that the Air Component Commander of OPFY, Air Commodore Ibrahim Garba Jibia, led the educational intervention, guided by the principle of the Chief of Air Staff, which he said emphasizes the NAF’s commitment to protecting citizens’ freedom and future.

    He said: “Air Commodore Jibia launched a series of strategic engagements to support local education. During the visits, the NAF team engaged directly with teaching staff, sharing effective learning techniques and modelling best practices in classroom settings.

    “Following the initiative, the NAF unit donated vital learning materials to pupils of Kurhundu Primary School and conducted comprehensive assessments of the school’s infrastructure and learning environment during multiple visits.

    “In a bid to address the infrastructural challenges identified, the NAF unit went further to renovate one of the school’s classrooms, significantly improving the learning environment for the pupils.

    “Inspired by this intervention, the Katsina State Government also undertook the renovation of an additional classroom and approved the construction of a new classroom, which is currently ongoing.”

    JUST IN: NAF appoints new spokesman

    The Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, has approved the appointment of Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame as its new spokesman of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF).

    Ejodame takes over from Air Vice Marshal Olusola Akinboyewa, who was appointed to the position in October 2024.

    The new NAF spokesman is a member of the 45th Regular Course of the Nigerian Defence Academy, and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, a Master’s degree in Transport and Logistics as well as a PhD in Information Systems and Management Studies from the University of Sheffield, United Kingdom.

    Air Commodore Ejodame has held several appointments in the NAF. He had served as Directing Staff at both the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji, and the National Defence College, Abuja.

    He was also the Pioneer Dean of the Faculty of Social and Management Sciences at the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT), Kaduna, and the Director of Procurement at the same institution.

    His experience includes a diplomatic role as Nigeria’s Defence Adviser at the Nigerian High Commission in Malaysia, where he was concurrently accredited to 9 other countries, strengthening Nigeria’s defence ties across the region.

    NAF kills scores of terrorists in multi-wave airstrikes

    The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) says it has in a milti- wave airstrikes eliminated scores of suspected terrorists at Warawara, near Wajiroko, and Chinene in the Mandara Mountains area of Borno.

    This is contained in a statement by the Deputy Director of Public Relations and Information, NAF, Group Capt. Kabiru Ali, on Thursday in Abuja.

    Ali said that the NAF had sustained its counterterrorism operations tempo in the North-East, executing decisive airstrikes in multiple waves on Wednesday and dealing a severe blow to insurgent activities.

    He said that the NAF, guided by painstaking Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions, identified a number of terrorists stockpiling logistics and planting Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) around Wajiroko.

    According to him, surveillance later tracked their movement to a concealed location housing a gun truck, ammunition stockpiles, and fuel reserves.

    ”In response, the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) executed multiple waves of air interdiction missions.

    ”The first wave struck the terrorists’ logistics hub, destroying gun trucks and critical supplies.

    ”The other followed with sustained rocket and cannon attacks, ensuring the complete annihilation of terrorist’s assets.

    ”Later that day, NAF aircraft targeted another terrorist enclave at Chinene in the Mandara Mountains.

    ”Intelligence reports indicated that insurgents had relocated there following a previous air raid on Degbewa on March 16.

    ”Overhead reconnaissance confirmed the presence of active structures, prompting the execution of strikes that set terrorist hideouts ablaze.”

    Ali added that the fleeing insurgents were subsequently engaged and neutralised, further crippling their operational capacity.

    According to him, battle damage assessment and corroboratory intelligence confirmed the neutralisation of scores of terrorist fighters.

    He said the airstrikes also destroyed four terrorist gun trucks, two Toyota Hilux vehicles, and several makeshift shelters, forcing the insurgents to abandon their positions degrading their operational capabilities.

    ”These successful air interdiction missions underscore the NAF’s unwavering commitment to neutralising insurgents, disrupting their logistics, and denying them safe havens.

    ”With sustained pressure on terrorist elements, the NAF remains resolute in its mission to restore peace and security in the country,” he said.

    Air strike by the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) fighter jets killed scores of terrorists and destroyed three of their gun trucks, north of Chiralia in Borno State.

    Deputy Director of Public Relations and Information,Group Captain, Kabiru Ali, announced this in a statement on Monday.

    He said strikes were initiated following “actionable intelligence” from ground troops, which tracked three terrorist gun trucks moving from Sabon Gari toward Chiralia.

    “Responding swiftly, the Air Component deployed fighter jets for an Air Interdiction (AI) mission. Upon arrival at the target location, NAF pilots identified multiple terrorists and their 3 gun trucks concealed under trees,” Ali said.

    “With precision and lethality, the NAF aircraft engaged the targets, unleashing rockets and cannons that obliterated 2 of the vehicles. As the insurgents attempted to reposition the third gun truck, a follow-up strike was executed, destroying it completely. 

    “The overwhelming firepower set all targeted vehicles ablaze, while scores of terrorists attempting to flee were neutralized in the aftermath.”

    NAF strikes destroy Boko Haram enclave in Mandara mountain

    Airstrike by the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) aircraft have destroyed one of Boko Haram’s hideouts within the treacherous Mandara Mountain in Borno State.

    The strike was conducted against the terrorists were in Chikide and Degbewa on March 16. 

    Deputy Director of Public Relations and Information,Group Captain, Kabiru Ali, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, March 18.

    According to Ali, the strikes delivered a “crippling blow to the terrorists’ stronghold and disrupted their activities.”

    He said: “Acting on credible Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) data, reports indicated that the notorious terrorist leader, Ali Ngulde, and his fighters had planned a high-level engagement at the location.

    “ISR missions over the area confirmed terrorist activity at a key assembly point in Degbewa, alongside the presence of heavily fortified structures equipped with solar-powered installations – clear evidence of an active command hub.

    “Following this intelligence, the NAF immediately launched a precision night strike under the cover of darkness, achieving complete surprise. 

    “The coordinated firepower extensively destroyed the terrorists’ logistics and command centre, igniting large fires that obliterated multiple structures and eliminated scores of terrorists in their hideouts.”
