    NAJA Award holds December 14 

    Arrangements are in top gear for this year’s Nigeria Auto Journalists Association (NAJA) Awards.

    The programme has been slated for December 14 at the Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.

    According to the organisers, the NAJA auto awards annually celebrates the best players in the Nigerian auto industry, acknowledging the marketing achievements in both business-to-business and business-to-consumer markets of the auto industry in the country.  

     Winners in various categories would be announced during the award night adjudged by the motoring journalists and industry experts in the country, they said in a statement.

    Chairman of the 2023 Award Planning Committee, Rasheed Bisiriyu, said the awards celebrate franchise new-car dealers for their exceptional business performance as well as indigenous automakers/assemblers for their effort in helping to develop the local auto industry.

    According to him, a panel of motoring journalists and top experts in the industry are currently sifting through the list of nominees to decide the eventual winners in various categories.

    “The award programme illuminates the significant contributions dealer entrepreneurs make in positioning their brands for acceptability, especially in the area of after-sales services.

    “While the industry is recovering, many buyers are tightening their belts, so when it comes to new cars, affordability and low maintenance costs are more important than ever,” he said.

    Also commenting on the forthcoming awards, Chairman of NAJA, Mike Ochonma, while commending past winners of the awards, also expressed appreciation to all the stakeholders who had over the years been supportive of all NAJA activities.

    On the awards, he said, “Our highly experienced team will choose the categories based on the kind of cars that the public are buying, then put their heads together to settle for the very best car in each category.”

    He explained that each award is to keep encouraging excellence and celebrate the best and the brightest among the stakeholders, their products, and services in the country.

    NADDC, Coscharis, Stallion others back NAJA workshop

    The National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), Coscharis Motors Plc, Stallion Motors Nigeria Limited, Jet Systems Limited and Weststar Associates Ltd are among leading stakeholders in the automotive industry supporting this year’s training/capacity building workshop holding in Lagos.

    The workshop, scheduled for Friday at the LCCI Conference & Exhibition Centre, Alausa, will have Director-General of the NADDC Jelani Aliyu, as a special guest and Chairman of National Gas Expansion Programme (NGEP) Mohammed lbrahim, as the guest speaker.

    A senior software engineer, Yusuf Jimoh Aweda and Chief Executive and Founder, Creek Transitway Limited. Wisdom Elijah are invited as facilitators.

    In the past few years, the NADDC boss has been on the driver’s seat of the adoption of autogas and electric vehicle as an alternative to fossil fuel.

    The training programme is aimed at equipping the motoring journalists with the necessary reportorial skills in relation to Nigeria’s automotive industry and globally.

    NAJA Chairman Mike Ochonma, said the themes were predicated on their crucial importance to the automotive industry.

    He said it is imperative for journalists covering the automotive sector to be in sync with the latest happenings in the sector, especially at this point in time that many Nigerians are clamouring for alternative fuel following the removal of subsidy on petrol.
