    Nana Shettima hails First Lady as sister, mentor, friend at 65

    Wife of the Vice President, Hajiya Nana Shettima, has described Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, as her sister, mentor and friend, while celebrating her on the occasion of her 65th birthday.

    In a heartfelt tribute, Mrs. Shettima said she was immensely proud to call the First Lady not just Nigeria’s First Lady, but also “my sister, mentor, and friend,” adding that her legacy of service, compassion, and excellence will continue to inspire generations across the country.

    She commended Mrs. Tinubu’s transformative contributions to Nigerian society, particularly in the areas of women’s health, rural development, education, women and youth empowerment, noting that her Renewed Hope Initiative has created ripple effects that will benefit generations to come.

    “Through your Renewed Hope Initiative, you have not only redefined the role of women in Nigerian politics but have also blazed a trail of excellence that continues to inspire countless women and young people to pursue their dreams with unwavering determination,” Mrs. Shettima said.

    She added that her years of working alongside the First Lady had revealed her compassion, wisdom, and unwavering commitment to the Nigerian people. 

    “I have been privileged to see the heart behind the public figure – a woman of deep faith, boundless compassion, and remarkable strength,” she stated.

    Mrs. Shettima praised the First Lady for carrying her office and personality with grace, describing her as a source of inspiration whose service has made Nigeria immeasurably better.

    “As you celebrate this significant milestone, know that your tireless service and visionary leadership have made Nigeria immeasurably better,” she wrote, praying for God’s continued blessings of wisdom, robust health, and renewed strength for the First Lady.

    On July 22, Hajiya Nana celebrated her 50th birthday in a low-key manner that belied the significance of the milestone. While many would expect a grand celebration befitting such a landmark age, she opted for an intimate gathering with close friends and family, reflecting her preference for simplicity amid the current mood in the country. The day was marked by warm acknowledgements through numerous advertisements, social media posts, and newspaper features that celebrated her impact and contributions.

    Despite the quiet nature of her celebration, she received heartfelt cards, delicious cakes, and thoughtful gifts, and was pleasantly surprised when her staff joined in singing birthday songs in her honour. During the celebration, she took the opportunity to reaffirm her commitment to uplifting the downtrodden and supporting the needy, emphasising that she would continue her advocacy until every woman in Nigeria feels the effects of a renewed hope agenda, in collaboration with the First Lady. Hajiya Nana Shettima’s 50th birthday, though modest, was a testament to her lifelong dedication to service and her unwavering belief in the power of compassion to create positive change.

    Tinubu building a better Nigeria, says Nana Shettima

    Wife of the Vice President, Hajiya Nana Shettima, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his commitment to laying the foundation for a better Nigeria through impactful economic policies, empowerment initiatives, and strategic investments in key sectors.

    Speaking on Wednesday at the annual Ramadan feast in Maiduguri, Borno State, Hajiya Shettima urged Nigerians to embrace constructive criticism in their engagement with the government, rather than resorting to politically motivated attacks. 

    She emphasised that providing valuable input would support the administration in its mission to improve the country’s fortunes.

    Emphasizing the determination of the Tinubu administration to leave a lasting legacy for generations to come, she said: “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is baking a new cake for us that are alive today, and for the Nigerian children and grandchildren that are coming behind us. It is who he is ably supported by our lovely First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu.”

    Mrs Shettima noted that the President means well for the people of Borno State as well as Nigerians in all parts of the country, even as she urged the citizens to always pray for President Tinubu and members of his cabinet.

    In a statement by Special Assistant to the President on Media & ICT, Office of the Vice President, Kwapchi Bata Hamman, Hajia Shettima said: “I can tell you that he (the President) means well, not only for Borno people but for the entire nation. We should not forget him and his subordinates in our prayers”.

    She further commended the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, for her contributions towards actualizing the agenda of the administration, especially through the Renewed Hope Initiative which she said has impacted many lives, including women, children and people with disabilities. 

    Director General of Maryam Babangida Centre for Women Development, Abuja, Dr Asabe Bashir, admonished women and the people of Borno State to imbibe the teachings of the just concluded Ramadan.

    She also sought the people’s support and prayers for President Tinubu, thanking the President for picking his deputy from Borno State.

    She said, “I always reiterate the importance of prayer because without prayers we can do nothing in life. We have just come out of Ramadan; let us imbibe that culture and lessons we received during the 29-day fast. We need to continue with the spiritual reflection.

    “We should thank God and President Bola Tinubu for remembering the people of Borno State again by bringing the seat of the Vice President, not just to the North-East region but to Borno State after Ambassador Babagana Kingibe was elected along with the late Chief MKO Abiola so many years ago.

    “We must continue to pray for the administration of President Bola Tinubu because if it succeeds, we succeed,” Dr Bashir added.

    Speaker, Youth Assembly of Nigeria, Tijjani Abubakar, thanked President Tinubu for his support to Nigerian youths through various youth empowerment initiatives.

    Also, Dr Martins Ekunke, who spoke on behalf the South-South, Yoruba and Igbo communities residing in Borno State, commended the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, for galvanizing support for people living with HIV/AIDS through her pet project, the Renewed Hope Initiative.
