NEMBE TO PLAY SPOILERS AT PILLARS

Nembe City attacking midfielder, Emmanuel Egesi has said his side will certainly puncture Kano Pillars’ league title ambition.

The bottom-placed side will be the guests of the Nigerian champions in Sunday’s Glo Premier League match day 37 encounter at the Kano Pillars Stadium in Sabongari, Kano.

Egesi said though their fate has been somehow sealed in the lower division next season they are not ready to concede any defeat to any side in the remaining matches on the season’s calendar.

“Pillars are in a pole position to win the league title once again and will stop at nothing to achieve their goal but we’re going to give them a run for the three points at stake on Sunday.

“We’re praying for fair level ground from the officials for both sides as we’ll make Pillars sweat in the clash.

“We’re down already but we’ve resolved that no team will ride on us to glory in the two remaining matches.

“A win for Pillars against us will get them closer to the league title but they’ll not have any of the luxuries from us.

“We want to end the season on a high and beating or derailing Pillars’ title ambition will be satisfactory and a record we’ll cherish for a long time to come.

“We’ve trained specifically for Pillars and we’re determined not to come back empty handed from the encounter,” said Egesi to supersport.com.

Nembe City still sit at the bottom of the 20-team elite league log on 28 points from a possible 108 at the conclusion of week 36 matches.

The side’s last game of the season will be on home ground against Giwa FC on November 9 at the Krisdera Hotel Stadium, Omoku.

Nembe City banished, fined after abandoned tie

The Nigeria league yesterday ruled that Nembe City will play their next three home matches in Benin.

These decisions and others including a financial fine on Nembe City were reached in the aftermath of the inconclusive Match Day 26 fixture between Nembe City and Lobi Stars at the Krisdera Stadium, Omoku, Rivers State.

The LMC found that the match was discontinued as a result of fans invading the pitch in protest of extra time penalty awarded by the centre referee against Nembe City.

It noted that it was the action of the fans and not the protest of Nembe City players, who though initially protested the penalty award, that caused the pitch invasion and inhibited the continuation of play

It further observed that play could not have resumed even if Nembe City players returned within five to twenty five minutes as stipulated by the rules when the fans refused to vacate the pitch and accordingly fined the club N500, 000 for the unruly conduct of its players, officials and fans.

The LMC therefore ordered that the botched match will be concluded at a neutral venue on a date preceding the 2014 Federation Cup final.

The match will be re-started from the time it was halted and with the same result that prevailed at the time of the disruption.

The LMC said these immediate actions are without prejudice to the Organizing and Disciplinary Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

Nembe City blame referee for defeat

Glo Premier League side Nembe City have  attributed their 4 – 0 defeat to Abia Warriors in the rescheduled Week three Glo Premier League played at the Umuahia Township Stadium on Wednesday as a result of false calls on the part of the centre referee Hamza Garba from Kano State.

Peter Onyekachi put the Umuahia team ahead in the 28th minute through a well taken penalty kick that sent Nembe City goalkeeper, Edet Eteka into the wrong side after Cyril Edum handled the ball in the eighteen yard box to end first half 1-0.

Onyekachi continued his scoring form in the second  half to net another two goals while substitute Jackson Daniel scored another goal to give Abia Warriors a 4 – 0 victory over the Bayelsa-based side.

Nembe City media officer, Gbenga Adeleye told SportingLife after the game that referee ruined the game for his side.

“The referee made a mess of the game. The officiating was questionable with harsh calls, it’s shameful that at this level we still have bias referees like these who aid winnings.

“It’s annoying when you have officiating like this when your team play well, it’s disheartening but we have to take solace and move on. The first penalty that resulted to the first goal was a clear reflection of what happened but the three goals scored were manufactured by the referee to shoot Abia Warriors to the top of the League summit.

“We are not scared of relegation. The most important thing is that we are still playing in the Glo Premier League, we understand the gang up against Nembe City to be relegated but let me tell you at the resumption of the second stanza we will get better and stronger. We have no argument to the first goal but the three other goals scored were questionable,” Adeleye told SportingLife.

Abdulharam Bashir of Enyimba International scored the fastest goal of the 2013/2014 Globacom Nigeria Premier League season in a 3-0 bashing of Nembe City in Aba.

Pere Anderson and Musa Newman combined well but the cutting edge was missing. The move orchestrated by Newman made Enyimba show a little bit of respect to the relegation battlers.

Mfon scored with a powerful headed ball in the 26th minute through a tailored cross from Thomas Zenke. The People’s Elephants were in control of matters with their faithful urging them on.

The midfield controlled by Sani Kaita was a delight to watch,as the Super Eagles star showed great maturity alongside Zenke Thomas,Rafael Boumsong and Kingsley Sokari.

They continued from where they left off in the second half.Man of the match, Mfon received a lovely pass from Bashir and lobbed Edet Eteka in Nembe’s goal. It was a super finish by the former Akwa United striker.

The victory also made it 22 points from a possible 45 points for Enyimba, while Nembe’s struggles continued with 13 points from 14 matches.

We have identified some areas that need corrections and we will do something urgent very soon. Our fans don’t need to panic because we will overcome it very soon. Nembe City to sack 10 players

SportingLife can exclusively report that the management of Nembe City will drop 10 players as part of a move to save the club from its predicament.

Nembe City is currently languishing at the bottom of the Glo Premier League following a poor run of results in the ongoing campaign.

The worst result came on Thursday when they suffered 6-0 bashing in the hands of Gombe United in a week 11 league match.

SportingLife understands that the Yenagoa-based side was given the privilege to sign players due to the fact that they started the league very late. They were unable to shop for players during the transfer window due to the earlier ban placed on them by the League Management Company (LMC).

The club’s Team Manager, David Ikputu told SportingLife that the management has resolved to allow the players to leave due to low productivity.

“We are going to sack 10 players due to below performance. We are not happy with our position on the league and something very urgent needed to be done to savage the situation. We can only work with players that are ready to add value to the club,” Ikputu told SportingLife.

Ikputu also disclosed further that the club will beef up the squad with three additional players.

“We have identified areas we need to work on and that is why we are bringing-in three new players, most especially in the attack. We need quality strikers that can deliver for the club. We did not bargain for what is happening now, and as a club we need to make corrections.

“We have already contacted the players and we are doing their papers. As soon as we  are through they will be presented to the public. They are experienced players that we believe will add new things to the club.”

“I’m very relaxed with this point at Crown FC though if we had pushed harder we would’ve earned the maximum points. I’m satisfied with the point as it would’ve been unsavoury if we had lost the whole three points in the game.
“Today’s result is a morale booster for us going into the next games, at least, we’ll be going all out for our first three points of the season. Our confidence is getting stronger by the day and it’s a great signal that if we work hard we’ll be able to take charge of our destiny as well as claim our rightful position on the log.
“I’ve told everyone who cares to listen that Nembe City shouldn’t be written off yet the league is a marathon and we’re determined to come up with more shocking results as the league progresses,” said the former Sharks assistant coach to supersport.com on Sunday.

“We are playing Rangers at the best time. We have to travel twice within five days for league matches but we won’t allow that to demoralise us. What we want is good officiating and if the centre man allows everybody to play their game I think we will get something out of the game,” Ikputu told SportingLife.
