The board of Nigerian Breweries (NB) Plc has recommended distribution of N25 billion as final cash dividend to the shareholders of breweries, raising the total cash dividend for the 2017 business year to N32.9 billion. This represented the entire profit after tax for the year.

A breakdown of the final dividend recommendation indicated that shareholders will receive a dividend of N3.13 on every share held as at the close of business on March 6, 2018. Shareholders are expected to approve the dividend at the company’s annual general meeting on April 20, 2018 while the dividend will be paid on April 23, 2018.

He pointed out that while there are some early signs of improvement in the macro-economic condition, this is yet to be reflected in consumer confidence.

Directors of the company expressed optimism that NB has a clear strategy to deliver good return on investment to shareholders as part of its commitment to winning with Nigeria.

    Net house nears completion

A computerised net house, measuring 53,000 square metres, believed to be the largest in sub-Saharan Africa, is at advanced stage. It is being built by Borno State Governor Kashim Shettima, who is determined to reposition the state’s economic potential through agriculture.

The plan is part of the government’s response to destruction of livelihood by Boko Haram insurgents.

Shettima inspected the site of the fully funded government project located opposite the state university at Jimtilo, a few kilometres from Maiduguri.

The net house is being designed as a retractable net house measuring about 53,000sqm (5.3ha).

It possesses a dual operation drip irrigation process and a factory for production and fabrication of drip line and emitters, to ease maintenance and operation of drip systems and long term sustainability of the project.

Adviser to the Governor on Agriculture, Ibrahim Ali, said at the site that by design, the net house was to be operated and driven by instruments of sustainability – a closed loop system that would ensure sustainability of crop production within the net house.

    Police raid Psquare’s Omole residence

Hardly had the dust over the rift between Peter of Psquare and his brothers; Paul and Jude settled when the iconic music family is faced with another messy , bothering on alleged breach of contract.
Residents of Omole Estate woke up Friday morning to the invasion of the Square Villa, home of Psquare, by policemen, purportedly carrying out a court order to reclaim about N8million said to have been paid to Psquare for a show they eventually turned down.
A leader of the delegation who spoke exclusively to NET said they were carrying out an order passed by the Ikeja High Court, Lagos. “Psquare were paid over 8million Naira for a show and they didn’t show up for the show. Our job here is to enforce the court injunction and retrieve the cash. Right now they say they are trying to transfer the money and that’s why we are waiting.”
Although the group neither showed the court injunction to the NET correspondent nor revealed the name of the client, an eye witness said the singers appeared beaten by the situation which attracted a mammoth to their residence.
Paul was seen driving out of the Sqaure Ville in a tinted BMW, refusing to speak to anyone. There were indications the singer was going to sort out the refund rather than allow further molestation.
Recall that few days ago, Peter started a Twitter rant, calling it quits with their elder brother and manager, Jude. The matter appeared to subside after Paul took sides with Jude.
Peter had gone ahead to reveal more bitter secrets, including how Jude hijacked reggae star, Cynthia Morgan from him.
