Newcross Exploration and Production Limited (NewcrossEP), the operator of OML 24, has announced the clearance and release of the vessels involved in its crude oil barging operations.
The NewcrossEP management team members met with critical regulatory and security officers afterwards.
NewcrossEP, in a joint venture with NNPC Limited, is the operator of the OML 24 oil block located in the Eastern Niger Delta in Rivers State.
It acquired the 45 per cent participating equity from the hitherto Shell Petroleum Development Corporation Joint Venture.

Managing Director of NewcrossEP, Victor Sodje, an engineer, said: “We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the collaboration, timely intervention, and support from the relevant authorities regarding the challenges experienced in our barging operations.

“The diligent work of the security officers, the industry regulator, and other stakeholders ensured that due process was followed, leading to this prompt resolution.
“This outcome is also a testament to the transparency and integrity of NewcrossEP’s Operations.”
According to the company, the continued assurance from the Navy to ensure a safe and secure maritime environment provides NewcrossEP’s greater commitment to supporting industry activities aligns with the national aspiration to increase production.
Since inception, the Newcross/NNPC Joint Venture has delivered more than 18 million barrels of crude oil to Bonny Terminal.
This has been a key enabler in restarting upstream operations along the NCTL corridor.
Owing to the success of the project, the concept has been leveraged by other upstream operators constrained by the same evacuation challenge.
