    Former Presidential Spokesperson Ajuri Ngelale  has shared an extraordinary moment last when he took a 13-hour flight from Manila to Los Angeles alongside boxing legend Manny Pacquiao.

    Ngelale conveyed his excitement about the trip, likening his thrill to that of a child receiving a beloved treat.

    Pacquiao, known for his illustrious boxing career, is reportedly traveling to the United States to attend the professional debut of his son, Jimuel, scheduled to take place later this month at Pechanga Resort Casino.

    Reflecting on his journey, Ngelale described Pacquiao as a source of inspiration, noting that the boxing icon mentioned sensing something positive about him, though he did not elaborate on what that intuition was.

    Ngelale expressed his deep admiration for Pacquiao’s remarkable life journey. He highlighted the boxer’s rise from the streets of General Santos City in the Philippines to becoming a celebrated figure in boxing history. Ngelale emphasized that Pacquiao’s story exemplifies the potential for greatness that can be achieved through determination, hard work, and a refusal to accept limits.

    In his enthusiastic tribute, Ngelale concluded:  “He epitomizes greatness.”

    The Presidency last night granted the request by President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, to proceed on an “indefinite leave” to enable him attend to pressing medical matters affecting his immediate family.

    Ngelale, in a statement on his general communication WhatsApp platform, said he had on Friday submitted a memo to the President’s Chief of Staff on his decision to pause his functions, including his roles as Special Presidential Envoy on Climate Action and Chairman of the Presidential Steering Committee on Project Evergreen.

    He said the decision was made after consultations with his family, owing to a worsening vexatious medical situation at home.

    He expressed hope to return to full-time national service when circumstances permitted.

    He, however, requested privacy for his family during this challenging time.

    His leave of absence takes effect immediately, with no specified date for his return.

    The Presidency, in a statement last night, said President Tinubu “fully understands and sympathises with the circumstances that have led to this difficult decision.”

    He extended “our heartfelt prayers and best wishes to Chief Ngelale and his family during this difficult period, hoping for a speedy recovery and restoration to health.”

    It said while Ngelale’s tireless efforts and dedication in serving the nation would be missed, it was grateful for the remarkable contributions he has made in his “various capacities, especially in advancing discourse and leading efforts on climate action and other key initiatives.”

    The President wished him well in all his future endeavours and “looks forward to welcoming him back to national service when the time is ripe.”

    He also asked that Ngelale’s wish for his privacy and that of his family be respected during “this period.”

    Ngelale who assumed office as Special Adviser on 31st July, 2023 also served as Special Presidential Envoy on Climate Action, and Chairman, Presidential Steering Committee on Project Evergreen.

    The Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation in an August 1, 2023 statement announced  his  appointment.

    It said:” President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, has approved the appointment of Chief Ajuri Ngelale as the Official Spokesperson as well as the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity.

    “The appointment takes effect from 31st July, 2023 and would terminate at the end of this administration unless otherwise decided by the President.

    “The President urges him to bring his wealth of experience to bear on the new assignment.”

    The Special Presidential Envoy on Climate Action (SPEC), Ajuri Ngelale, has announced plans by BURN Manufacturing to establish a cooking stove manufacturing facility in Ogun State, upgrading from its current assembly plant in Kano State.

    According to Ngelale, the move aligns with Nigeria’s focus on clean cooking as a wealth-creating opportunity and a key aspect of the country’s just transition. The envoy hinted at plans to support companies with clean finance incentives to empower sustainable solutions.

    In a related development, Ngelale met with the Brazilian Head of Embassy, H.E. Joao Soares, to discuss opportunities in climate action and green industrial spheres.

    The two nations, as the most populous in Africa and South America, aim to deepen industrial collaboration to advance climate justice and ensure economic opportunities for their growing populations.

    “Sequel to an initial conversation with BURN Manufacturing a few weeks ago, the Global CEO, Mr. Peter Scott, visited me on Tuesday and detailed plans to construct a full end-to-end cooking stove manufacturing facility in Ogun State as an upgrade to their assemble-only plant in Kano State.

    This commitment was made in a statement he released after a high-level dinner meeting at the Global Energy Transition Congress on Sunday, where he engaged with prominent global leaders, including former US Special Presidential Envoy on Climate, John Kerry, and former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair.

    The statement reads: “I was humbled and honoured by the opportunity to exchange views over dinner with former U.S. Special Presidential Envoy on Climate, H.E. Tony Blair, ex-CNN Global Emerging Markets Editor, Mr. John Defterios, and other high-level dignitaries at the Global Energy Transition Congress on Sunday night in Milan, Italy.

    “I was struck by the increasing prioritisation of climate justice in the global south, and my focus remains on steering the energy transition toward green economic opportunity for Nigerians and Africans at large.”

    The Special Presidential Envoy on Climate Action (SPEC), Ajuri Ngelale, held a follow-up meeting with the leadership of the Infrastructure Corporation of Nigeria (InfraCorp) yesterday evening to discuss the progress of the Evergreen City project.

     With international interest and time-bound deliverables, the Envoy expressed confidence in Nigeria’s potential to become a green reference point for large markets in Africa.

     The Evergreen City development aims to showcase Nigerian ingenuity and talent, positioning the country as a manufacturing hub.

    According to the SPEC in a brief made available to journalists at the State House, Abuja, the Friday meeting demonstrated the government’s commitment to executing well-laid plans, harnessing national talent, and driving success in the landmark project. 

    As Nigeria strives to become a leader in green development, the Evergreen City is framed to set a new standard for sustainability and innovation on the continent.

    “Post-holiday follow-up meeting with the leadership of the Infrastructure Corporation of Nigeria (InfraCorp) on the development of Evergreen City was held  on Friday evening.

     “With time-bound deliverables and immense international interest in the landmark development, we are more confident than ever that with the diligent execution of well-laid plans, Nigeria will be the green reference point for large markets becoming large producers in Africa.

    “Our bet is on Nigerians and national ingenuity, and we believe we have a talented population of creators who will drive this manufacturing hub to success,” Ngelale said.
