    The sneak peek at the amazing shows gracing your screens include Zokie of Planet Ruby. Viewers are expected to buckle up for a literal out-of-this-world adventure with Ruby, the 10-year-old vlogger and her tail-zapping alien from the planet Pudge.

    Nickelodeon unveils new brand identity

    Popular kids’ channel, Nickelodeon, has unveiled a fresh brand identity paying attention to its playful history.

    This update features a reimagined Splat logo, with a contemporary twist designed to resonate with today’s kids and families.

    The rebrand is already live on Nickelodeon while the rebrand for Nick Jr made its debut on November 1 and will be adopted by NickToons in 2024.

  • AKA, Stonebwoy shine at Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards

    Hosted by music mogul DJ Khaled, the unpredictable and always messy awards show was aired fresh from USC’s Galen Center in Los Angeles, where kids celebrated their favorites in pop culture, television, music, social media and movies.

    The Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards 2019 were simulcast on Nickelodeon (DStv channel 305) and Nick Toons (DStv channel 308) on Sunday, 24 March 2019.

    The Fela in Versace, AKA, who travelled independently to the awards, walked the orange carpet at the Los Angeles event and won the award for Favourite South African Star. Ghanaian reggae dancehall artiste Stonebwoy, scooped the coveted orange blimp for Favourite African Star.

    Alex Okosi, Executive Vice President and Managing Director for VIMN Africa and BET International said: “Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards 2019 unites children across the globe by providing them with a powerful platform to vote for and celebrate their favourite personalities. Congratulations to Stonebwoy and AKA for their respective wins and for representing Africa.”

    Showing his appreciation for his award, Stonebwoy said: “I feel so good and grateful for winning the Favourite Africa Star category of the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards 2019. Guess what? I couldn’t have done it without your votes, so thank you very much for voting for me and I hope you guys enjoy the rest of the slime at the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards 2019.”

    AKA also thanked those who voted for him after his win, saying: “I would like to thank Nickelodeon Africa andNickelodeon International for honouring me with this award. The kids are the most important thing we have right now in the planet because the kids are the future, the kids keep me relevant and the kids keep me on top of my game.     This year’s party kicked off with DJ Khaled making his way to the Kids’ Choice Awards in style, with an assist from friendsKylie Jenner and the Jonas Brothers. His next-level arrival began with a ride in a Rolls Royce Phantom, followed by a cruise on a luxury yacht, and a trip on board the “Kids’ Force One” helicopter before landing at the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards 2019.

    The awards also saw some winners including Chris Pratt, Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, Ellen DeGeneres, Adam Sandler, Robert Downey Jr., Shawn Mendes, Zendaya, Noah Centineo, Selena Gomez, Joey King, Jace Norman, JoJo Siwa, David Dobrik, Avengers: Infinity War, Riverdale and DJ Khaled.

    NICKELODEON has announced the host and nominees for the 2019 Kids’ Choice Awards (KCAs) along with a first-time Nickelodeon KCA nomination livestream event across Nickelodeon’s YouTube, Instagram, Facebook and Twitter handles and channels.

    The Nickelodeon 2019 Kids Choice Awards will air on Nickelodeon (DStv channel 305) and Nick Toons (DStv channel 308) at 5:00pm on Sunday 24 March 2019.

    The two effervescent stars that make up the Nigerian nominees for the only live event where kids’ votes count and the biggest stars of the day line up to get slimed include: Actress, Adesua Etomi-Wellington and media personality, IK Osakioduwa in the Favourite African Star category and globally acclaimed musician Davido as the Africa nominee in the Favourite Global Music Star award featured amongst David Guetta and Taylor Swift.

    Prominent Hip Hop artist and musician, AKA, who was at the press conference with his daughter said, “Everyone who knows me will tell you, I am a BIG kid at heart. So to get a nod from the kids is super special. It says the kids are listening and paying attention and that for me, as a Dad, is a huge deal and an honour.”

    Music mogul DJ Khaled is set to host the 2019 Nickelodeon’s KCAs, the biggest, slimiest party of the year for kids. DJ Khaled will bring his music, signature catchphrases and larger-than-life personality to the Kids’ Choice Awards stage.

    MOST anticipated family festival, Nickelodeon NickFest is set for another edition in Lagos this September.

    The show, put together by Viacom International Media Networks Africa (VIMN Africa) in partnership with Maltina will take place in Lagos on September 29th and 30th.

    Organisers say NickFest 2018 will deliver a fun-filled experience for families promising to be a captivating experience for various age groups with unique family-friendly events. The weekend will feature Nickelodeon’s superstar characters in brand new shows: the world’s most popular, irreverent sea sponge, SpongeBob Square Pants; Adventure Bay’s intrepid pups, Skye, Rubble Marshall and Chase from Paw Patrol: the feisty and fun Dora the Explorer with her animal rescuer cousin, Diego and Dora’s best pal, Boots. Shimmer and Shine, the two genies who can solve any problem will join in the fun as part of the amazing character lineup. Kids and parents can look forward to lots of singing, dancing and pure laugh aloud fun as they are whisked away to their favorite Nickelodeon characters worlds.

    Nickelodeon to spice up Calabar Carnival

    As the 2016 edition of Calabar Carnival inches closer, the organisers have announced that popular children cartoon network, Nickelodeon will be participating in the event.
    The Special Adviser to the Governor on Events, Mr. Ken Ahkla made the disclosure Sunday in Calabar, stating that the coming of Nickelodeon means good news to families.
    According to Ahkla, the cartoon network will for four days organise family and children funfair at Tinapa.
    The funfair, he said, is the alternative to the yearly children Carnival.
    He further disclosed that the event will be used by the network in their programme that is broadcast all over the world.
    The network is also expected to help grow potentials of home vendors for children events, he disclosed.
    In a related development, another entertainment giant that will be making first appearance at Carnival Calabar is Nikon.
    The Japanese camera maker is to set up an academy in Calabar to train young enthusiasts on the art of photography.

    Nickelodeon (DStv channel 305) has announced the rollout of its Surprise Birthday competition for kids.

    In partnership with Domino’s Pizza and Cold  Stone Creamery, Nickelodeon is open to kids who are between two and 22.

    Senior Vice President and Managing Director, Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) Africa,  Alex Okosi, said: “We are very excited to be rewarding kids with this fun birthday activation with Domino’s Pizza and Cold Stone Creamery.

    ‘’Nigeria is one of our largest markets for Nickelodeon and this is our own way of giving to Nickelodeon fans for their loyalty to the channel. Every surprise birthday party will definitely be an unforgettable experience for families and we can’t wait to kick off!”

    The firm said its birthday parties would feature fun activities, which include face-painting, balloon artists, as well as meeting favourite its characters.

    To participate in the contest, the firm urged kids to fill in the registration form on the Nickelodeon website, adding that winners will be informed later.

    Kiddies channel, Nickelodeon, has confirmed that the episodes of Loud House featuring a same sex couple will not air on its channels in sub-Saharan Africa.

    As a global brand entertaining audiences around the world, Nickelodeon strives to ensure that content respects the varying traditions and the cultural sensitivity in each market.

    The Loud House is an animated series about the comedy and chaos of family life in all its forms. It is rooted in the creative team’s own experiences from childhood and their observations today as parents themselves.  Its stories and characters are all grounded in the realities of many modern families today, as seen from the perspective of the 11-year old main character.

    Nickelodeon seeks talents for animation

    In its bid to develop new animation talents among kids, acclaimed family channel Nickelodeon, has announced call for entries for its 2014 global Animated Shorts Programme.

    Domicilled on DStv Channel 305, management of the channel said the programme would be another platform for new content for kids, adding that this year’s programme marks the second annual call for international submissions for a new set of creative voices and visionaries.

    “We are on a mission to create the funniest animated content for the next generation of kids, and find the freshest creative voices from around the world,” said Russell Hicks, president, Content Development and Production, Nickelodeon. “The shorts programme has already fuelled our pipeline with new content and we are excited to see what comes through our door this year.”

    Hicks said Nickelodeon will choose a minimum of 10 pitches to be developed into short animated films to appear on air and on Nickelodeon websites globally. “These shorts also have the potential of becoming long-form animated series on Nickelodeon,” he stated, adding that in 2013 Nickelodeon received over 1,000 pitches worldwide for the programme.

    “Ideas will be accepted from a broad pool of creative talent from all quarters, including artists, designers, writers, directors and comedians. Creators will be provided with the artistic and production support teams to help them complete their fully animated shorts.

    “Shorts must be original, humour-based and character-driven. All animation styles are encouraged from 2D to digital 2D, stop motion, CG or mixed media. The deadline for submissions is March 14, 2014,” said Hicks.

    From the pitches received in 2013, 10 domestic and seven international pitches were chosen to be developed into animated shorts that will air on Nickelodeon or appear on www.nickelodeonafrica.com throughout 2014.

    Gary “Doodles” Di Raffaele (MAD, Metalocyalpse), discovered through Nickelodeon’s inaugural Animated Shorts Programme in 2012, is one of the creators and executive producers of Nickelodeon’s brand-new upcoming animated series, Breadwinners. Premiering this February, the 20-episode series, which is also created and executive-produced by Steve Borst (Teen Titans Go!, MAD), follows two booty-shaking ducks as they operate a bread delivery service out of their awesome, jet-fuelled rocket van.

    “As the leader in television animation production, Nickelodeon has a legacy of creating ground-breaking animated shows, including The Fairly OddParents, SpongeBobSquarePants, Fanboy &Chum Chum, Dora the Explorer, TeenageMutant Ninja Turtles, The Legend of Korra, and Sanjay and Craig, which are produced at the Nickelodeon Animation Studios in Burbank, California,” boasted Hicks.
