Nigerian-born Giannis Antetokounmpo will on July 26 make history at the Paris 2024 as the first black flagbearer for Greece at an Opening Ceremony when he walks in the parade of athletes in the French capital, alongside race walker Antigoni Ntrismpioti.
But Greece have announced that Antetokounmpo will carry the nation’s flag at the Opening Ceremony of the Olympic Games Paris 2024.

Born to Nigeria immigrants, Charles and Veronica Antetokounmpo, the NBA superstar led the Greek men’s basketball team to victory in the recent Olympic Qualifying Tournaments (OQT), securing their place at the Games.
Giannis top scored in the final as Greece overcame Croatia in the final, to book their spot in Paris. The Milwaukee Bucks player has twice been named Most Valuable Player in the NBA (2019, 2020), and NBA Finals MVP in 2021 when they won the title.
