The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Health Sciences, Ila-Orangun (FUHSI), Osun State, Professor Akeem Lasisi has decried the low enrollment of students in the southwest for the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) scheme.
Lasisi made the call while the Senate building of the institution was handed over to the management of the institution and noted that all students should be encouraged to register for NELFUND.
He confirmed that the students of the institution benefited from NELFUND and money has been paid into the FUSHI account.
“What we need to do about NELFUND is for us to sensitise the students that they have to register. Our students who registered have paid their school fees to us.

“At this time in the country now, all students should be encouraged to register for NELFUND so that they can benefit from it. The delay in the programme is the number of students, if they are not coming readily there is nothing NELFUND can do.
“In the southwest, the number of students that have registered in the zone is a far cry compared to the number in other geopolitical zone. We have discussed this with the management and we talked to their leadership to register.
Speaking about the Senate Building, he commended the Federal government for ensuring that the institution has hitch-free take-off, saying: “The building is iconic which speaks to the university. It looks great.”
