Stakeholders urge FG to beef up security at Lagos airport

Stakeholders in the aviation sector have called on the Federal Government to beef up security at the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos, following recent alleged poaching of aircraft and stealing of baggage.

They said on Monday in Lagos that security was the bottom line of aviation, hence the need to urgently address the issue.

Mr Olayinka Abioye, General Secretary, National Union of Air Transport Employees ( NUATE ), noted that such incidents were not good for the image of the country.

“This is not a good story for the country.

“We know that no outsider can come into the airport except maybe people that have been disengaged or maybe workers that are presently working at the airport but are being owed salaries and benefits.

“Imagine a worker working in a security company, earning N40, 000 as salary, is approached by a passenger with 1,000 dollars to smuggle an illegal substance into an aircraft.

“Some of them will do the dirty job willingly but when such workers are given commensurate remuneration and benefits, they will not be easily enticed,” he said.

Abioye urged the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority ( NCAA ) to immediately invite all the security service providers to a round table where their operations could be properly reviewed.

Also, the President of the Aviation Round Table (ART), Mr Gbenga Olowo, said there was need to centralised security at the airport and also deployed technology in strategic areas.

“Today, we have Aviation Security of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria ( FAAN ), Immigration, Air Force, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency ( NDLEA ), Directorate of State Security ( DSS ) and Police

“We should centralised security at the airports. ART has been talking about this for some time because we must take the best model of aviation security by removing it from many hands.

“We should stop these various agencies from setting up their individual desks. So, we should centralise security and deploy technology.

“When you deploy technology, you don’t need a separate counter for narcotics or DSS because once you get to immigration, all your details will be there,” he said.

  • Exposed: 3,000 Year-Old “Sex Herbs” That is Helping Men Permanently Cure Weak Erection and Last Upto 48 Minutes In Bed

Exposed: 3,000 Year-Old “Sex Herbs” That is Helping Men Permanently Cure Weak Erection and Last Upto 48 Minutes In Bed

From ancient times, men of the Himalaya tribe have been using a group of special herbs to help them last longer during sex… boost sexual stamina and… cure the problem of premature ejaculation permanently.

These herbs which are almost going into extinct are found in certain Asian countries – the regions around Himalaya Mountains.

And, they have proven to be very effective that many people have called them…

    The “Sex Herbs”

Those who have consumed these herbs have testified to amazing results like: “Lasting up to 45 minutes before ejaculation”… “Stronger and harder erections during sex”… “More energy and ability to go many rounds without getting tired”.

Understandably, some people are a bit skeptical, and have been asking…

    Are they really safe?

The thing is, unlike pharmaceutical drugs, these plants are gifts of nature, which don’t cause any known negative side effects.

So, they are safe. And, even people with health conditions like diabetes and hypertension (who still desire to perform better in bed) use these herbs without fearing any complications.

    Too Good To Be True?

Scientists have carried out investigations to verify the truth of these claims.

    For instance…

The British journal of Clinical Pharmacology stated that there is enough evidence for … the effectiveness of ginseng in the treatment of erectile dysfunction”

Sex Herb to cure Weak Erection
    Sex Herb

According to a scientific research conducted in Korea in year 2012: “…men who took Ginseng noticed an improvement in their conditions.”

    Some of the herbs are:

    • 1. Ginseng
    • 2. Yohimbe
    • 3. Asparagus
    • 4. Epimedium (Horny goat weed)

The health benefits of these herbs have been proven by more than 75 scientific studies.

    How does it work?

These herbs contain an ingredient called serotonin which helps reduce the anxiety level in the body.

They also contain Dopamine which increases the ability to control sexual stimulation.

After consuming these herbs, you are relieved of stress and tension, and control sexual stimulation, so you can perform better and last longer in bed.

They also boost your body’s energy level, and increase the flow of blood to your penis, for better erection and to prevent quick ejaculation.

A lot of people have used it to increase their sperm count and cure impotency, too.

    The problem is…

You can’t find these herbs here in Nigeria.

However, because of the millions of Nigerian men who are suffering from premature ejaculation and other types of sexual problems…

And, because of the several complaints we have received about the fake and dangerous drugs being sold everywhere by some desperate marketers…

We decided to partner with a foreign company in order to make these herbs available in Nigeria.

Now, at last, you can get…

    The “Sex Herbs” in Nigeria

The good news is: these herbs have now been developed into an easy-to-use herbal supplement.

So now, you too can use this VERY safe and VERY effective natural supplement which has transformed thousands of men like you…

Africans, others rally against Trump ’s racist remarks

The Africans in the diaspora would on Monday join their counterparts from Haiti, El Salvador and other countries in a rally to protest against U.S. President Donald Trump ’s alleged racist remarks.

The rally would also hold in New Jersey, Atlanta, Houston and across other major U.S. cities.

The organisers of the event urged all people of African descent and others to attend the rally to “reject the denigration President Trump uttered against us”.

The U.S. president reportedly made the comment during a meeting with congressional leaders in the Oval Office on Thursday.

“Why are we having all these people from shithole countries come here?” Trump allegedly said after being presented with a proposal to restore protections for immigrants from the countries in question.

The protest tagged: ‘Rally against Trump’ at Time Square on Monday, would commemorate the Martin Luther King Jr. (MLK) Day., which celebrates the death of the civil rights icon.

“In response to the comments made by President Trump on Thursday about countries including Africa and Haiti, please Join Mayor Bill de Blasio in denouncing Trump at a rally at Time Square on Monday.

“On MLK Day, New York City will take a stand for our sisters and brothers from Haiti, throughout Africa, El Salvador and other nations in the diaspora that have become targets of President Trump’s hatred and bigotry.

“This moment is too critically important for us not to come together.

“Let’s honour Dr King’s birthday by showing the world the progress being made to help achieve his dream,” Famod Konneh, Bronx Borough Director, New York City Office of the Mayor, said.

However, Trump had, while signing the proclamation for King’s Day on Wednesday, said the late civil rights leader “dedicated his life to a vision: that all Americans would live free from injustice and enjoy equal opportunity as children of God”.

“His strong, peaceful, and lifelong crusade against segregation and discrimination brought our Nation closer to the founding ideals set forth in the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence.

“Today, as we come together to honour Dr King, we know that America is stronger, more just, and more free because of his life and work,” Trump said.

Okowa swears in council chairmen, harps on punctuality

Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta on Friday told the newly elected chairmen of the 25 local government areas that he would not tolerate absenteeism from work.

The governor gave the warning at the swearing-in ceremony of the chairmen in Asaba.

He said the development of local government areas was of great concern to his administration.

“There is a lot of work to be done in our local council areas because we are in a very hard times.

“Though we agree that things are improving, but there is still a lot to be done to take us to where we should be.

“So, to that extent, the new chairmen and all those who are going to work with them should realise that it is not going to be all rosy.

“As you resume duty, you definitely have to work with the staff and management of the local councils in the interest of the people,” Okowa said.

He also reminded the new chairmen that priority attention should be given to payment of salaries and the security in their respective local government areas.

“So, I want to urge you and charge you that you take matters of security in your council areas seriously.

“I also expect that council chairmen, vice chairmen and councilors would return to the local government areas where they preside over.

“I would not want to have absentee council chairmen, vice chairmen or councillors in any local government in the state.”

The 23 chairmen out of the 25 chairmen were elected on January 6 while the election of the remaining two held on Jan. 9 due to violence.

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps ( NSCDC ) has deployed 1,000 security personnel for the conduct of Jan.13 re-run election in Anambra Central Senatorial District.

My wife will beat me to death one day, cries husband

An Igando Customary Court in Lagos on Friday reconciled Mr Olawale Jaiyeola with his wife whom he says will beat him to death should the court fail to terminate the 28 year old marriage.

The court’s  President, Mr Akin Akinniyi, resolved the differences between the estranged couple after several adjournments and interventions.

Akinniyi while striking out the case admonished the couple to maintain peace and continue to live in love and harmony.

“Since the court was able to reconcile the couple through counselling, I urge both of you to go home and live in peace,  love and be law abiding,” Akinniyi said.

Mr Olawale Jaiyeola had earlier told the court that his wife, Olatayo, was fond of punching him as if he were a punching bag, beating him like a baby.

“My wife will beat me to death one day if I continue with the marriage.

“I have scars all over my body as proofs of her abuse. I have been living every minute of my life in fear. Save me from the cruel hands of my wife.

“I had suffered so much from her in silence in the past; anytime we had misunderstanding, she would beat the hell out of me,” he said.

According to him, the marriage has been turbulent and fraught with fights and quarrels.

“I have not been at peace since l married my wife; she is so quarrelsome.

“I brought her to court in 2013 for the dissolution of the marriage, but she begged me and promised to change.

“The court asked her to write an undertaking not to be beating me again, which she wrote and the case was put on “sine die’’ stage.

“She has refused to change. Instead, her behaviour toward me has been hostile, and the beating continued unabated,” he said.

The 67-year-old engineer said that his wife lacked care for him and was not giving him food.

Jaiyeola also alleged that his wife threatened to burn his two cars.

“Please, end this loveless marriage before my wife terminates my life,” he said.

The defendant, Olatayo, however, denied all the allegations.

“I never beat my husband neither did I threaten to burn his cars,” she said.

Olatayo, a mother of three, said she was not a troublemaker, but peaceful.

According to her, she is taking good care of her husband.

The woman pleaded passionately with the court not to dissolve the marriage, saying she was still in love with her husband.

  • Nigeria, UNESCO to hold Lake Chad conference in February

Nigeria, UNESCO to hold Lake Chad conference in February

The Federal Ministry of Water Resources says it will host a global forum on sustainable solutions to save the drought-ravaged Lake Chad between February 26 and 28 in Abuja.

Dr Musa Ibrahim, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, said this in a statement in Abuja on Friday.

He said that the theme of the conference was “Saving the Lake Chad to revitalise the Basin’s Ecosystem for Sustainable Livelihood, Security and Development’’.

He said that the ministry would hold the conference, in collaboration with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation ( UNESCO ) and the Lake Chad Basin Commission ( LCBC ).

According to him, the objective of the conference is to create global awareness on the socio-economic and environmental challenges arising from the shrinkage of the lake.

He said that the forum would be an opportunity to deliberate on the effect of the lake’s desiccation on people’s livelihoods and security, with a view to developing a comprehensive programme and action plan to address it.

Musa added that the conference would also inform stakeholders on the consensus of opinion on the different solutions to restore the lake.

He said that the solutions included the Inter-Basin Water Transfer ( IBWT ) project, which was aimed at transferring water from Ubangi River in the Democratic Republic of Congo into the Chad basin.

He said that there was a need to gather political and financial support for the overall restoration of the Chad basin.

According to reports, Lake Chad is about eight per cent of the size of Africa and the lake is shared by Algeria, Cameroon, the Central African Republic, Chad, Libya, Nigeria, Niger and Sudan.

The eight countries have an estimated population of 373.6 million, with 12 per cent of the estimated population living around the Lake Chad in 2013.

The people living in the basin depend on the lake for water supply as well as farming, fishing and livestock production.

However, the LCBC website says that a review of the hydrology of the Lake Chad Basin shows that in the wet years (years before 1973), water inflow into the basin averaged between 30km3 and 40km3 per annum.

The website says that in the dry years (years after 1974), water inflow averaged between 20km3 and 21km3 per annum, while the lowest inflow — 16km3 – was recorded in 1984.

    CBN inaugurates NFIS in Anambra

The Central Bank of Nigeria ( CBN ) on Friday inaugurated the Financial Inclusion State Steering Committee for implementation of the National Financial Inclusion Strategy ( NFIS ) in Anambra.

The committee was inaugurated at the Awka Branch office of the CBN on Friday.

At the inauguration, Prof. Solomon Chukwulobelu, the Secretary to the Anambra government urged members of the committee to adopt policies and programmes that would ensure that the less privileged had access to financial services.

Chukwulobelu was represented by the Anambra State Commissioner for Economic Planning, Budget and Development Partners, Mr Mark Okoye.

He described the committee as a veritable platform to enable stakeholders to contribute ideas toward addressing issues about effective implementation of NFIS.

He said that if well implemented, the economically active population in Anambra would have greater access to finance for their businesses.

Chukwulobelu expressed hope that the committee would fashion out strategies to help to achieve the 2018 target of achieving 328,000 new savings customers and 299,000 new credit customers.

Mr Chuks Sokari, the Branch Controller of CBN, Awka branch recalled that NFIS was launched in October 2012 with the aim of reducing the percentage of adult Nigerians with low access to financial services from 46.3 per cent in 2010 to 20 per cent in 2020.
