The National Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), has distributed food items to about 100 households in Sokoto State.
The gesture, NSCIA said, was to alleviate the prevailing economic hardships in the community.
Speaking yesterday at the distribution in Sokoto, Malam Muhammad Lawal-Maidoki, a Board of Trustee Member, NSCIA’s Education, Social, and Health Mission (MESH), said the Ramadan Food Support Initiative was also aimed at addressing societal needs while fostering generosity.
“This initiative reflects NSCIA’s commitment towards supporting and uplifting the community.

“Today, we witnessed the MESH programme, extending its reach to Sokoto State, benefiting over a hundred households with essential food items,” Lawal-Maidoki said.
He thanked the Muslim Students Society of Nigeria (MSSN) and the Federation of Muslim Women’s Associations in Nigeria (FOMWAN) for their collaboration in distributing the items to the beneficiaries.
He also commended NSCIA for providing the platform for MESH to carry out its activities in alleviating economic hardships among the people.
Chairperson of FOMWAN Sokoto State Chapter, Hajiya Zahra’u Maishanu, appreciated the donors and encouraged the beneficiaries to pray for their continued support.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the items distributed at the event included rice, sugar, salt, vegetable oil, palm oil, semovita and seasonings among others.
