Team Imo will today slug it out with Team Oyo in the women’s handball event of the on-going 22nd National Sports Festival in Ogun State.
Team Ogun will face Team Kogi in the first game of today while Team Edo will combat Team Kano in other fixtures in the Women’s handball.
Meanwhile, Team Lagos and Team Niger State had to really dig deep to earn victories on Day 1 of the Men’s Handball event at the National Sports Festival 2025 ongoing in Ogun State tagged Gateway Games 2025
Team Niger Stare, despite the turnovers and missed chances, defeated a well drilled Team Kano 25-24 in a pulsating match in the men category at the Alake Sports Centre.
For Team Lagos, they met a stubborn Team Sokoto but prevailed 25-24 .

Team Edo earned a 10-0 victory and the maximum points after the walked over Team Enugu who arrived late for the match.
Before the commencement of the day’s matches, the teams observed a minute silence for the repose of the Late Coach Sylvanus Audu of Kano State. The late Coach Audu who was also known as Coach Kura died last week Tuesday following a brief ailment.
