Buhari was a patriot, incorruptible leader — NTAC DG

The Director-General of the Nigerian Technical Aid Corps (NTAC), Rt. Hon. Yusuf Buba Yakub, has described former President Muhammadu Buhari, who passed away at the age of 82, as a patriot who dedicated his life to Nigeria as a soldier, statesman, and incorruptible leader.

In his condolence message personally signed according to his Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Nkem Anyata-Lafia, on Sunday, the former lawmaker lamented that the entire nation is deeply saddened by the sudden passing of a man who gave his all to the country as a soldier, a politician, a mentor, and a nationalist.

Conveying his sympathies to President Bola Tinubu, the Buhari family, and all Nigerians, the NTAC DG said the late President’s legacy would endure in the hearts of those who knew him and in the pages of history that recount his selfless service and unwavering integrity.

He said: “On behalf of the Nigerian Technical Aid Corps (NTAC) and its Management, I convey our heartfelt condolences to the family, government, and people of Nigeria under the leadership of President Tinubu on the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari.

“While we mourn this great soldier, nationalist, and leader, we remember his commitment to democracy, regional stability, and national unity, as well as his firm stance against corruption, which earned him the trust and admiration of many Nigerians.

“This austere, spartan leader who lived above board and symbolized selfless public service, may Allah grant him Aljana Firdausi and give his family and the nation the strength to bear this loss.

“He will be remembered more for the principles he upheld in leadership than for any monuments built in his name”.

NTAC DG applauds Tinubu’s strategic strengthening of Caribbean ties

The Nigerian Technical Aid Corps (NTAC) has deployed four specialist nurses to Jamaica as part of efforts to deepen bilateral ties with the Caribbean region.

The deployment coincides with President Bola Tinubu’s ongoing visit to St. Lucia, a move the agency says underscores his commitment to South-South Cooperation.

The initiative, according to NTAC Director General (DG), Rt. Hon. Yusuf Buba Yakub, in a statement on Sunday by Adetoun Olubunmi, the Head of Information and Public Relations at NTAC, aligns with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda and advances Nigeria’s foreign policy and development cooperation goals.

Speaking at the deployment ceremony in Abuja on Wednesday, represented by Ambassador Saidu D. Mohammad, the DG commended the President for reinforcing Nigeria’s global partnerships through technical diplomacy.

The volunteers, who will serve in Jamaica for two years, include specialist nurses and public health educators.

They are expected to contribute to Jamaica’s health system while promoting Nigeria’s values and strengthening diplomatic ties.

The DG urged the volunteers to serve as exemplary ambassadors and uphold national dignity.

The Nigerian Technical Aid Corps, under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has deployed over 10,000 professionals to more than 40 countries since its inception in 1987.

A minute’s silence was observed in memory of a prospective volunteer who passed away before deployment.
