The Special Adviser to the Governor of Lagos State on Rural Development, Dr Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, has commenced the ceremony for the construction of a 1.3-kilometre road at Monsuru Egbeyemi/Alhaja Agbaje Street in Ikorodu Local Government Area.
The project will benefit four Community Development Associations (CDAs) within the Poromosan community in Ikorodu, namely, Irebami CDA, Winners Estate CDA, Winners Estate CDA Phase 2, and All Saints CDA.
The event marked another significant step in the delivery of rural infrastructural development under the administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
Agbaje described the road construction as a transformative initiative under the THEMES Plus agenda of the present administration.

He noted that the agenda is a policy of inclusivity, aimed at ensuring that no individual or community is left behind in the state’s development efforts.
He said the government is prioritizing infrastructure in rural communities, highlighting other ongoing projects in Ikorodu.
He called on the CDC Secretary, Alhaji Lookman Sonibare, to help sensitize residents and encourage them to cooperate with the contractor.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and the Office of Rural Development, Mrs. Kikelomo Bolarinwa, said the construction would begin immediately as the contractors had already been mobilized.
She reiterated that the project was meant to improve the well-being of the community and make life easier for residents.
Bolarinwa urged the youths and leaders to cooperate with the contractors and called on the contractors to make efforts to ensure that the project engages and benefits them.
The road will be constructed with several features including drainage systems, culverts, outfall drains, kerb painting, lane marking, and installation of 1000-watt solar-powered streetlights to enhance visibility and security.
