An undergraduate at Uskudar University in Istanbul, David Somtochukwu Nwajei, has sent a passionate plea to coach Aliyu Zubairu to be considered for a place in the FIFA U-20 World Cup-bound Flying Eagles.
The Flying Eagles last month secured one of the continental’s ticket to the Chile 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup holding between 27th September and 19th October following their bronze medal-winning efforts at the CAF U-20 AFCON in Egypt.
The 18-year old Nwajei, a forward with Aryehspor Academy in Istanbul, has been on the radars of Galatasaray and Fenerbahce in the last 12 months.
Both rival clubs have been monitoring his steady development especially when they consider the performance of his compatriot, Victor Osimhen, who stole the show in his first season in Turkey by winning a domestic double with Galatasaray.
Said to possesses Osimhen’s physical attributes, the free-scoring Nwajei scored 22 goals for Aryehspor Academy last year to emerge top scorer, and has remarkably notched 24 goals in this campaign.
“I am only begging the head coach of the Flying Eagles to give me a chance to prove myself,” the gifted forward said. “ I just want to be invited for me to showcase my talent.

“I am not suggesting being the best, but I just want an opportunity like others. I know that with God, my best will convince the head coach.

“Turkey has given me the privilege to develop. My academy, Aryehspor, is a big one and recognised here in Istanbul. I had to agree with my parents to come here and school. “They want me to combine both (schooling and playing) which I am doing. I have satisfied their interest in my education, and now I am focusing on my career.
“I think I can contribute to helping the Flying Eagles excel,” he noted, further sharing his experience in Turkey.
“My experience here is huge. The interests from top clubs, scouts, and agents have been encouraging. I am not in a hurry to sign for any club. I am focusing on my development process, which has been attracting them. I know that if I get involved in Flying Eagles activities, surely my value will skyrocket. That is my focus presently hence, I’m pleading with the head coach to consider me. I just want an invitation, and God will take care of the rest.
“I am aware Nigeria is blessed with loads of talents, especially at home but there are equally talents abroad. It is impossible to see all the talents at the same time.
“One can only pray for grace to be noticed or identified for invitation.
“ I pray fervently for such grace because it is my dream to don the shirt of my fatherland. No matter where you are or what you do where you are, home remains home. I wish to play for Nigeria,” he added.
