The Elegushi of Ikate-Elegushi Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Oba Saheed Ademola Elegushi, Kunsela III, has called on the Nigeria Police to unravel the mystery surrounding the untimely death of Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.

The appeal was made through his lawyer, Adepeju Omotayo of Bandele Omotayo & Co., during the ongoing trial of two suspects, James Adeshola and Awiye Azeez.

The suspects were accused of cyberbullying and defamation against Oba Elegushi in connection to Mohbad’s death.

In her statement, Omotayo emphasised that the esteemed traditional ruler is resolute in his stance on this issue.

He urged all those seeking justice to do so responsibly and within the bounds of the law.

Omotayo said: “Kabiesi will not allow anyone, regardless of their status or position in society, to tarnish his good name and reputation for any gain.”

She added that Oba Elegushi had never met or interacted with the late Aloba, his wife, or any member of his family.

She expressed hope that this clarification would put an end to the baseless accusations involving him in the matter.

Oba Elegushi also conveyed his desire as a father and leader to uncover the circumstances leading to Mohbad’s death.

This was made clear during a meeting with Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, and his legal team at the zone 2 headquarters of the Nigeria Police in Onikan.

Aloba had been invited for questioning regarding unsubstantiated statements and allegations against the monarch.

At the meeting, Oba Elegushi ensured that the police did not detain Aloba, saying that his primary interest was to see justice served for Mohbad and his family, not to oppress them.

The trial of the two accused persons is scheduled to resume on July 5, 2024, at the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos State.

However, Oba Elegushi isn’t the crux of this gist but his ombudsman. His name is Temitope Oyefeso and he’s one man with the ears of Oba Elegushi. For Oyefeso, a distinguished indigene of Ikorodu, the perception of people about his principal remains his every day concern. From organising capacity building programmes to alleviating poverty and supporting youths in different aspects of life, Oyefeso has continued to polish the image and persona of Oba Elegushi. His relationship with his principal dates back to seven years and it has continued to wax stronger with every passing day.

Oyefeso’s dedication and loyalty to the monarch knows no bounds and he’s constantly in the presence of His Royal Majesty without attracting undue attention to himself and his personality. He would be quick to share the achievements of Oba Elegushi in Ikateland and beyond but would readily shy away from giving details about his person.

For Oyefeson, Oba Elegushi’s milk of kindness, humanity and individuality remains major attributes that have kept him in his fold.
