  • Nigeria belongs to God, says Obadare

General Overseer of World Soul Evangelical Ministry (WOSEM) Dr Paul Obadare has stated that no religion can lord it over the others in the nation.

Nigeria, he said, belongs to God though it remains a secular nation constitutionally.

He spoke at the weekend in a chat with reporters in Lagos.

He said despite the religious diversities in the country, Nigeria is God’s own country and any attempt to cause chaos through these diversities would be frustrated by God.

The eldest son of the renowned late evangelists said: “There’s more to the unity of this country. Those who are planning division through religion will be judged by God.

“If you are a Muslim or a Christian, practice it well because no leader will be allowed to curtail the religious sentiments of any citizen.”

He called on Nigerians to continue praying for peaceful coexistence and development despite the religious diversity.

According to him: “Prayer is the way forward and I urge all Nigerians to love one another to ensure peace and unity among the people, irrespective of their religious inclinations.

“The peace and prosperity of any nation is tied to the role of the church’’.

He said Christian and Muslims must join hands and pray for good leadership, stating “it is only in that togetherness that we can build one strong united nation that we all along craved for.”

Obadare regretted that some leaders exploit the nation’s fault lines of religious, political or ethnic point of views so that they would occupy the top and the rest will be at the base.

He said: “That type of situation will not promote peace and unity. We need to live in harmony together and respect the rights, dignity and progress of other people.

“We should not promote ourselves over and above others, for that type of thing can never promote peace.”

While supporting the efforts of the government to rid the country of corruption, he said President Muhammadu Buhari must do more to correct all the injustices visited on Nigerians over the years.

He castigated the government for the deplorable state of the economy, especially infrastructures.

He said the present overdependence on oil as the main stay of the economy will not do Nigeria any good but Nigeria should explore other areas of investment.

He also advised the federal government to allow states to control their resources to be able to take care of their citizens.

He said the mausoleum was designed from different architectures of top monuments from across the globe that will give a befitting image and rest place for the late evangelist. “In fact, this is a home for Baba. The project means a lot to the church and Baba in particular because we believe that other spiritual leaders will join in the home-coming as many leaders don’t get closer home enough. Until his death in March, Baba was always home while celebrating Xmas or the convention,” Pastor Obadare said.

He disclosed that the mausoleum, which would soon be opened to the public, would be at the centre of the church primary goal of educating its followers, especially those in the grassroots. “For now, the church is primarily concerned with educating its followers who are mainly grassroots,” he added. Asked of his preparedness to lead the church, he responded philosophically, saying: ‘Just pray for me.’ Pastor Obadare, who studied in United Kingdom and United States with multiple post- graduate degrees in theology and counselling, is spiritually ready to steer the affairs of the ministry to greater height.

Workers intensify efforts to complete Obadare’s tomb

WORKS are in top gear to complete the final resting place for the late world renowned evangelist of the World Soul Winning Evangelical Ministry of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Prophet Timothy Obadare, at the WOSEM international Conference Ground, Shiloh, Ileki Area in Ilesa, Osun State. Builders and other workers, including volunteers from the CAC are working day and night to complete the tomb before the August 17 date when the great evangelist would finally be laid to rest. According to the son of the late preacher, Pastor Abraham Obadare, the only unfulfilled dream of his late father was his inability to take the gospel to some parts of the world before he died. He said the greatest wish of his father was to spread the gospel of Christ to all the nooks and crannies of the world. He said: “My father was a committed follower of Christ and his greatest assignment while on earth was the spread of gospel. His all time desire was to win more souls to the body of Christ. “The only thing he would have loved to do, but for death, was to work towards ensuring that more souls are won to the kingdom of God. His greatest wish was to always depopulate the kingdom of darkness. “He had wished that more souls were reached by him in various parts of the world. He wanted more souls to be won to the kingdom of God and wished that everybody on earth knew God. This he would have loved to continue but for his death.” Activities marking the late preacher’s final journey started with a lying-in-state on Thursday August 8 at the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos. It will continue on Monday, August 12, with a Commendation service at the All CAC Coordinating Council Headquarters, Lagos at 4 pm. • Obadare for burial August 17

The remains of the late President of the World Soul Winning Evangelical Mission (WOSEM), Prophet Timothy Obadare, will be interred on August 17, his first son, Dr. Paul Obadare, said yesterday.

Obadare died on March 21 at 83. His funeral will hold at the WOSEM Conference Centre on the Ilesha-Ife Expressway.

Dr. Obadare, who spoke with reporters at a news conference organised by the Burial Committee in Lagos, said the funeral would start on August 15, with a service of songs simultaneously held in Ilesha, Akure, Ibadan and Lagos.

A lying-in-state will hold in Ilesha on August 16.

An interdenominational service and interment at a mausoleum inside WOSEM Conference Centre will hold on August 17.

Dr. Obadare said his father’s death was preceded by signs.

He said: “There is no how a great man of God like my father will die without signs, especially spiritual signs foretelling his death. I remember that shortly before his death, one man of God called me on phone and said he got divine inspiration from God that Baba (Obadare) should not be buried elsewhere but at the WOSEM Ground.

“The second one is that members of WOSEM come here (Wosem Conference Centre) from time to time to pray and there were great revelations in the course of their prayers on my father’s imminent departure.

“Thirdly, three days before my father’s death, my mother saw signs of an invisible being following her all about. It was after my father’s departure that my mother realised it was his spirit that was following her about, giving her final guidance before final departure.”

When asked whether his father named a successor before his departure Dr. Obadare, who is the President of WOSEM, USA, said: “I cannot answer that question until my father’s burial is concluded.”
