Young athletes not older than 19 years of age will compete in five sports at the Honourable Mudasiru Obasa’s Games tagged ‘Obasa Games 2024‘, the organisers have announced.
The event, which was organised by King Sports International in honour of the Lagos State House of Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, will see youths from various Local Governments within Lagos-West Senatorial District compete in football, boxing, chess, table tennis and scrabble.
According to the organisers, Anwar-Ul Islam Model College Agege, Dairy Farm Secondary School field and TTC Ifako Ijaye will host the football competition from November 15 to December 14, 2024 while other events will take place at the Indoor Sports Hall of the Agege Stadium between December 2nd and 6th.

The Chairman Organizing Committee, Abdulganiyu Obasa said the event was organised to give talented young athletes in the Lagos-West Local Governments areas an opportunity to showcase their talents, becoming a professional and earn a living.
Obasa said the event will be used to discover talented young athletes that will represent the country at major competitions like the Olympics in the future.
“We want our young stars to take advantage of this programme and see it as a way of expressing themselves. The event is for those who are U-19. It is a tournament designed for young athletes to grow because we want to see these young talents in the next Olympics representing Nigeria in various sports,” Obasa said.
Meanwhile, the winners of the football competition will receive the sum of N3m cash reward, while second and third-placed teams will pocket N2m and N1m respectively.
