    Odunlade Adekola’s Olori Ogun rakes in ₦47m in opening weekend

    With the premiere of Odunlade Adekola’s film, ‘Warlord: Olori Ogun,’ the film has gone ahead to rake in a whopping N47m in its opening weekend.

    ‘Warlord: Olori Ogun,’ is produced by Odunlade Adekola Film Production (OAFP) and FilmOne Studios, and directed by Odunlade Adekola, Tope Adebayo, and Abiodun Olanrewaju.

    ‘Warlord: Olori Ogun,’ is a tale set in the heart of Yoruba culture, exploring themes of bravery, legacy, and identity.

    The film follows the journey of a fearless warrior who must navigate complex family dynamics, protect his community, and preserve his heritage in the face of challenges. Combining history, culture, drama, and rich cultural storytelling, the film offers audiences an immersive cinematic experience deeply rooted in Nigerian tradition.

    The premiere was a celebration of culture and Nigerian cinema, drawing notable cast members including Toyin Abraham, Muyiwa Ademola, and Femi Adebayo, alongside other industry figures such as Iyabo Ojo, Mike Ezuruonye, Itele D Icon, Kie Kie, and Bisola Aiyeola.

    Many other actors, filmmakers, and film lovers also came together to witness the first public screening of the highly anticipated film, which opened in cinemas on Friday, November 28, 2025.

    Speaking at the premiere, Adekola said, “Fans should expect something powerful and exceptional. Warlord: Olori Ogun is a strong story, and I am proud of what we created.”

    The film weaves themes of bravery, legacy, and identity into a striking narrative that kept the guests fully immersed throughout the night, with authentic storytelling and strong performances from Odunlade Adekola, Toyin Abraham, Muyiwa Ademola, Femi Adebayo Salami, Ibrahim Chatta, and a host of others.

    Actor Odunlade Adekola buries father in Ekiti

    Actor Odunlade Adekola bid a final farewell to his father, Pastor N.A. Adekola, in a grand burial ceremony held in Otun Ekiti, Ekiti State.

    The cleric passed away in July at the age of 84.

    The funeral activities began with a Service of Songs on August 18 at Christ Apostolic Church in Abeokuta, followed by a wake-keeping service and lying-in-state in Otun Ekiti.

    The interment took place on Thursday, August 21, and was attended by several Nollywood stars, including Ibrahim Chatta, Muyiwa Ademola, Eniola Ajao, and Ireti Osayemi.

    The ceremony was well-attended, with fans and colleagues paying their last respects to the late cleric.

    Odunlade Adekola had announced his father’s passing on Instagram in July and has since received condolences from fans and industry colleagues.

    Adejobi was promoted from Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) to DCP, a recognition of his exceptional service and dedication to policing in Nigeria.

    Nollywood actors and filmmakers, Odunlade Adekola and Dele Odule have expressed heartfelt gratitude to fans, friends and colleagues for the outpouring of love and support following the loss of their loved ones.

    Over the weekend, Odunlade Adekola announced the passing of his father, Pastor Adekola.

    Deeply moved by the overwhelming support he has received, the 48-year-old actor said, “The massive turnout of my wonderful people every day since my daddy passed away is overwhelming. Thank you so much,” Odunlade said.

    Similarly, veteran actor Dele Odule appreciated the presence of attendees and those that have supported him during the final burial of his elder brother held in Ijebu Igbo, Ogun State.

    The burial ceremony was graced by notable Nollywood figures including Jide Kosoko, Peju Ogunmola, Toyin Adegbola, Jigan, Kunle Afod, and Femi Adebayo, among others.

    The cause of Pastor Adekola’s death has not been disclosed.

    The news sparked an outpouring of condolences from fans, colleagues, and followers, who have flooded Odunlade Adekola’s comment section with messages of sympathy and support.

    On Wednesday, February 19, 2025, Nollywood actress and producer, Biola Adebayo hosted family, friends and colleagues to a befitting prayer session and reception in honour of her late mother, Mrs Mojisola Nurat Adebayo, who passed away a week ago.

    The event was held at the Devine Hall, situated inside Ikeja, had Islamic clergy declaring the event open with prayers before guests were treated to fine dishes and drinks.

    The prayer session had the Adebayo family and friends gathered to pray for the repose of the late Mrs Nurat Adebayo with the children led by Biola in attendance.

    After the prayer session, which saw the actress dressed in white, Biola proceeded to the reception which had dignitaries from all walks of life in attendance.

    Hollywood star Rain Pryor cast Odunlade Adekola for new film

    Nollywood actress, director and writer Rain Pryor has cast Nollywood’s Odunlade Adekola as the lead for her new film.

     Pryor made this known recently in a chat with The Nation.

    The 54-year-old accomplished film star said she settled for Odunlade after watching many of his films and seeing his range of abilities.

    “I am a fan of Nollywood, so in the last year and a half, Nollywood has flooded the United States through Netflix and other streaming platforms and I have watched King of Boys, Jagun Jagun and other titles and I have watched Odunlade, his range of abilities and what he can do and to me, he possessed what is needed for the character of Oba Fagbemi in the coming film and that was why I chose him,” Pryor explained.

     Pryor is currently working with Bola Attah and Chike Nwoffiah, a Nigerian filmmaker and arts consultant on the film project. While Pryor takes on the dual roles of director and executive producer, Attah and Nwoffiah sit as executive directors of the project.

     On the inspiration behind the project, Pryor said, “What prompted the story was my family. I have a family that is rich in tradition and culture and when I travelled to Nigeria to learn about the Yoruba culture, predominantly Ifa, I thought how can I collaborate the Nigerian and black Americans together to create something that is a mixture of Hollywood and Nollywood. My father, who was a late popular comedian and actor, made profound changes in his life when he came to the continent and felt that he found his soul and himself and here I am doing the same thing and finding my place.”

     Attah and Nwoffiah disclosed that the high budget film project is in the pre-production stages and will begin filming in 2024 with the film set for a 2025 release. Attah also said that the film will be shot in Osun and Lagos state, Nigeria as well as Baltimore and other states in the United States of America.

    Movie critics and some members of the public have commended the actors and actresses that featured in the movie titled “Nimbe” for exposing the vices inherent in drug addiction.

    The critics made their commendations in separate interviews with the News Agency of Nigeria on the sideline of the premiere of the movie that took place at the Palms Mall, Lekki, Lagos State.

    They said that the artists used their skills to interpret their roles and conveyed the movie’s messages to the youth, its targeted audience, and the public in general.

    They artists were able to tell the youth and the public from the content of the video that consumption of hard drugs would always do more harm than good to them.

    NAN reports that “Nimbe’’ is the lead character in the video that is about a boy who took to hard drug and this role was skillfully acted by Chimezie Imo.

    Household name in the theatre industry, Odunlade Adekola, played the role of Bayo, the father of Nimbe.

    Toyin Abraham who acted as Uduah in the video was Nimbe’s mother while Bukola Shofola was assigned the role of ‘Mrs Kpokobiri; the teacher of the lead character.

    Also, Kelechi Udegbe answered ‘AK’, in the video and he was the leader of the street gang while Sani Danja played ‘Aba’, a distributor of illegal substances.

    The movie which lasted one hour and 50 minutes showed the effects of the consumption of substances suspected to be hard drugs by the lead character and his gang.

    Nimbe and his gang operating under the influence of hard drug unleashed terror on the community and committed murder, robbery, and rape.

    The film established that Nimbe got introduced to the street gang and drugs due to constant bullying by his peers and the neglect by his parents, especially, his father.

    It concluded that parental control, care and love were very essential in the upbringing of children.

    It also showed that when a child lacks parental control and social values, he or she would become a victim of negative influences within the society.

    A movie analyst, Mrs Bukola Akinola, urged the public, especially the youth, to spare time to watch the movie and learn the good lessons behind it.

    “The movie is really good with a bit of humour, but most importantly, it passes on the message about the consequences of drug abuse and its addiction amongst the youth.

    “There are a lot of youths that indulge in drug abuse and are addicted to it. This norm is a sad development in our present society.

    “There is some sort of comic relief but the movie still passed the message regarding the negative effects of drug abuse to the public and that impressed me a lot,” she said.

    Also, Miss Adaeze Ilechukwu, a blogger commended the cast that interpreted the movie.

    “I must really commend the cast of the movie because it had the right blend and the actors portrayed their characters well.

    “The performances of Odunlade Adekola and Toyin Abraham were awesome. All the cast performed extremely well and it reflected in the movie.

    “Most importantly, it addresses the issues of drug abuse which is rampant amongst youths in the country at the moment,” he said.

    Mr Jude Balogun, who was part of the audience said, “I was really impressed with the cinematography and production of the movie as everything was super.

    “The clarity, lighting, image sensors and everything you can think of, came out in the right proportion and that made the movie great.

    “I’m glad I watched the movie and I will recommend it to my friends so they can have a taste of what I had just experienced.

    “This is a movie that everyone must watch when it is finally out in the cinemas,” he said.

    Mr Demola Akano also commended the movies, noting that the movie exposed some of the current vices affecting the society.

    “The rate of drug abuse in the society cannot be over-emphasised, so this movie will send the right message to its target.” he said.

    NAN reports that the movie addresses the issues associated with drug abuse, some of the causes, how to identify and avoid such.

    The movie featured such renowned actors as: Odunlade Adebola, Toyin Abraham, Sani Danja, Rachael Okonkwo, Kelechi Udegbe and Broda Shagi.

    The video is currently being shown at cinemas nationwide.

And Eniola, who is currently a brand ambassador of betting company, PaddyPaddyBet, played the lead role as Yeye Alara in the movie, while rave of the moment in Yoruba contemporary movies, Odunlade Adekola, played the character, Dongari.

    In the movie, Yeye Alara is a powerful woman who uses her power to rescue people from the clutches of oppressors, but no one is clean. Does she have any skeleton in her closet? How easy is it to transform from nobody to somebody?

    LEADING Yoruba language actor and filmmaker, Odunlade Adekola, has corrected the notion that his career took a rise about the time he joined the film industry.

    “Let me correct this impression that I came into the industry when everywhere was ‘loaded’. I joined the industry in 1996 that’s about 22 years ago. The movie industry wasn’t as big as this at the time. So, I didn’t run into theatre, I’ve been there for quite a while but I still give glory to Almighty God and you can’t achieve anything without the power of God.”

    Adekola who was speaking shortly after picking the Best Actor in a Comedy Movie diadem at the AMVCA, said the award speaks a lot to his career. “It’s not a very easy task to make people laugh, and also have a great time. Sincerely, I feel very good.”
