    Group decries insecurity, herders’ attack in South East

    Oganihū, a non-partisan Igbo interest group dedicated to the safety of all citizens/humanity and the development of Ala Igbo, has expressed dismay over what it described as the rising menace of insecurity, herdsmen attacks across the southeast region.

    In a 12 paragraph petition signed by 16 members on behalf of the group namely: Prof. Chijioke Uwasomba, Obinali S. Duru, Esq, Karl Chinedu Uchegbu, Dr. Chido Onumah, Edmund Onyiriogwu, Uzodinma Nwaogbe, Dr. Sam Amadi, they lamented the violence that has crippled the South-East in the last couple of years.

    In the statement which reads in part, the group said, “A notoriously deadly strand of this violence in Igboland is the grand plan by armed herders and their sponsors to ostensibly supplant the indigenous/subsisting landowners by killings and destruction of farm crops. There is no state in the South East where these herders don’t march their animals on the farms, streets and roads with impunity.
