    Ogunbote extends contract with 3SC

    Technical Adviser of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan, Gbenga Ogunbote, has officially extended his stay with the Oluyole Warriors.

    After weeks of discussion with the management of the club, the Oracle, as the widely traveled tactician’ is fondly called,  agreed to renew his contract with the club, in a deal that will see him staying with the club for the next two years.

    Speaking after signing the contract extension papers, the former Rangers International, Lobi Stars, Sunshine Stars, defunct Sharks FC of Port Harcourt and Remo Stars’ sweat merchant, expressed joy over the development.

    “I am thrilled to announce that I have signed  a two-year contract extension as the head coach of Shooting Stars.

    “I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to continue leading this talented group of athletes and I am excited about the future we will build together,” said the soft spoken gaffer.

    He expressed appreciation to the management of the club, and the fans, expressing the belief that the team will achieve in the coming season.

    “I say a big thank you to the organization and fans for their support,  and I can’t wait to see what we can achieve in the coming years; UP SHOOTING,” stated coach Ogunbote

    NPFL/StarTimes: Ogunbote target continental  with 3SC  as title race bubbles

    With the 2023/24 NPFL season entering its final stretch, Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) head coach Gbenga Ogunbote has set his sights on securing a continental ticket for the Oluyole Warriors.

    Fans can catch all the remaining NPFL action live on StarTimes’ Beta Sports channel 244 as the battle for the title and continental spots intensifies.

    The Ibadan-based team is currently fourth on the log table with 56 points, closely trailing Enyimba and Remo Stars who are on 59 points. The top three teams at the end of the season will qualify for the CAF Champions League and Confederations Cup, and 3SC are determined to be among them.

    The Oluyole Warriors, who have won the league five times, last lifting the trophy in 1998, have had a resurgent season under Ogunbote. This was evident in their recent 4-0 thrashing of Abia Warriors at the Lekan Salami Stadium. Late goals from Alex Aghahowa, Malomo Taofeeq, Christian Pyagbara, and Adam Mustapha secured the emphatic victory.

    “We have come a long way and this is a big opportunity that we cannot allow to slip off our hand,” Ogunbote said after the game. “Our target is to secure one of the Continental tickets. We are on course and by the grace of God, we shall achieve our objective.”

    The title race remains wide open, with just a few points separating the top four teams. 3SC face a crucial two-game stretch that could determine their fate, starting with an away match against Rivers United on Sunday, June 9th, followed by a decisive home clash against league leaders Enugu Rangers on Wednesday, June 12th. The 3SC vs Enugu Rangers match will air live on Beta Sports channel 244 on StarTimes.

    Ogunbote confident of turning out formidable 3SC

    Coming across as not satisfied with his side’s  2-1 win over Plateau United on the opening day of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), Technical Adviser of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC), Gbenga Ogunbote is looking to draw better performances especially in converting scoring chances.

    In his post-match interview after the encounter decided on Saturday at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Ogunbote, insisted that more still needed to be done in that particular area.

    While he was happy that his team netted twice, he still thinks that his team should be more clinical in front of goals considering the chances they created.

    “Before now, we have been crying that we were not been able to score goals, but now that we’ve started with two goals, we have to improve on it.

    The 3SC boss also attributed their inability to score more than two goals to anxiety on the part of the players.

    “I was thinking we would get some goals, even before the first goal came but unfortunately, you can see the anxiety in the players. The anxiety in my boys robbed us the opportunity of scoring goals before the first one”.

    Newly appointed Enyimba manager, Gbenga Ogunbote has stated that his new squad will deliver in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) 2016/17 season.
    “We are currently on holiday and will resume on January 2, 2017. We are building a new squad and hopefully the team should be ready for the challenge ahead,” Ogunbote told Goal.
    “Yes, we had a couple of players who left Enyimba FC but sincerely the club is bigger than any player but the focus is on building a team that will compete and lift trophies.
    “You know that Enyimba FC didn’t lift a trophy last season and that may cause some obvious pressure considering that Enyimba FC is the biggest brand in club football in Nigeria.
    “I won’t let such pressure influence my decision or style and I won’t allow it get to the players but the major target is to get back to where the club belongs.”
    Top stars like the former captain of the side, Chinedu Udoji, Etor Daniel, Femi Thomas, Moses Ocheje have all left the Elephant’s camp but Ogunbote has maintained that the club is bigger than any player.

    Enyimba head coach Gbenga Ogunbote has said his plans to restore the People’s Elephants to their former glory was a motivation to join them.

    Before joining the Aba based outfit, the tactician had handled Gateway United, Sunshine Stars, Sharks FC, Giwa FC and Shooting Stars SC.

    “I feel great because I am in a great team. Enyimba is a big team not just in Nigeria but also Africa. For any coach to come here is always something to cherish,” Ogunbote told Goal.

    “All we need to do is to see things as collective responsibilities. When a team that is used to winning laurels doesn’t get it once it will be like heaven has dropped down. We want to see what we can do and make the club come back on track.

    “Barcelona, a club that is adjudged the best team in the world, is never satisfied otherwise there will be no need for them to reinforce their team. We won’t be satisfied until we achieve our dreams and objectives.

    “We will see what we can do. I know that Enyimba isn’t a bad side and will never be. The club has always signed the best in the land and for sure we will try our best to make the team great again.”

    Enyimba Football Club have appointed Coach Gbenga Ogunbote as Technical Adviser after parting company with Paul Aigbogun by mutual consent.

    The People’s Elephants, who placed ninth last season with 50 points and exited the CAF Champions League at group stage level, have brought in the former Sunshine Stars and 3SC coach ahead of the new NPFL season.

    “Heading into a new season, the club have turned a new chapter in order to strengthen its successful history and tradition. We appreciate the drive and hard work of Paul and he will always remain a respected man within the Enyimba family.

    “As we begin a new chapter in the progress of our club, I would like to thank Paul Aigbogun for all he did throughout last season and wish him all the very best in his future endeavour,” Enyimba chairman Felix-Anyansi Agwu said in a statement.

    “We believe that the new man to take us forward is Coach Ogunbote Olugbenga and he has just signed a contract with us. Ogunbote is a well-respected Coach in Nigeria and shares our ambitions and values.

    “We are confident that he can move us in the direction we are headed and will give him all the support he needs,” Anyansi-Agwu concluded.

    Coach Ogunbote  will be presented to the media in a formal unveiling ceremony on a soon to be announced date.

    Gbenga Ogunbote is expected to soon replace Paul Aigbogun as the new coach of seven-time Nigeria champions Enyimba, top officials have disclosed.

    Former Sunshine Stars and Sharks coach Ogunbote ensured Shooting Stars stayed up for a second straight season, but has missed out on leading Akwa United in the new season.

    “Ogunbote is on his way to Enyimba to replace Aigbogun,” a top official revealed.

    Aigbogun’s job at  Enyimba has been on the line ever since he failed to guide the team to a successful league title defence.

    Enyimba also failed to impress in the CAF Champions League even after they reached the money-spinning group stage of the competition.

    Coach Gbenga Ogunbote has been branded unavailable to other prying eyes by Nigerian top-flight side, Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC).

    The former Sharks and Sunshine Stars tactician guided the Oluyole Warriors to safety in the out gone Nigerian top-flight and has become the most sought after coach in the off season by other clubs.

    An official of the Ibadan landlords, Jubril Arowolo said management is almost handing Ogunbote a new contract to keep him at 3SC for the upcoming top-flight.

    “The truth is that coach Gbenga Ogunbote has shown his willingness to stay at 3SC while the management, too has equally shown their readiness to work with him in the upcoming season. Right now Ogunbote is still our coach. Everybody wants him to continue from where he stopped.

    “There has been on-going discussion in the past weeks and I must report that it has been quite fruitful. Both parties are at the point of crossing the t’s’ and dotting the i’s’ of the contract documents and these will be sorted out in  a few days.

    “Ogunbote has raised cogent issues and the management is willing to give them to him. So we want all prospective suitors seeking ‘her’ hands in marriage to stay away as ‘she’ is not available.

    “Of course, we know that Ogunbote is the beautiful and the most sought after bride everybody wants ‘her’ as ‘wife’ we want ‘her’ the more as ‘she’ is our product. Ogunbote performed pretty well for us in the outgone season and we will keep him to continue the good work at 3SC,” said Arowolo to supersport.com.

    The former Giwa FC coach helped 3SC to avoid relegation in the just concluded top-flight finishing the 20-team elite league on the 15th position on 47 points, 16 behind winners, Enugu Rangers.

    Coach Gbenga Ogunbote is expected in Uyo today to open contract talks with Akwa United.

    Ogunbote, who steered Shooting Stars clear of relegation for the second straight season, is now the top target for Akwa United after Imama Amapakabo opted to stay put at champions, Enugu Rangers.

    Should Ogunbote agree a contract with ‘The Promise Keepers’, he will replace the experienced Belgian Maurice Cooreman.

    Akwa United have already embarked on a massive re-organisation after they finished a disappointing 14th this past season. They have fired nine top players mostly for indiscipline.

    Shooting Stars head coach, Gbenga Ogunbote has called for proper orientation of Nigerian clubs and their supporters on how to comport themselves during Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) games.

    “It is quite unfortunate for the league. It’s not good for our league and more importantly when the game is being televised live and the whole world is watching. We need not do this kind of a thing, but it has happened.

    “I think we still need to educate clubsides, supporters and the security need to do a lot  to ensure that things like these do not repeat itself again,” Ogunbote told SportingLife after the abandoned encounter.

    Ogunbote, who expressed satisfaction with the draw, believes the task of ensuring the club survives the drop is still on course.

    “A point here is nice and more importantly at this point in time when we are looking for points for us to survive. The task given to me is to ensure that the team does not go down and that is what we are working towards.”
