  • Ojobo is NIPR’s PR Personality of the Year

    The Public Affairs Director, Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) Mr. Tony Ojobo, has emerged the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) PR Personality of the Year.

    The conferment of the prestigious award was performed by NIPR’s President/Chairman of Council, Dr. Rotimi Oladele, who described Ojobo as the midwife, nurse and committed PR practitioner.

    He said: “The prestigious award is given in recognition of your sterling leadership qualities, outstanding contributions towards the development of the public relations practice and support for industry advancement.”

    The ceremony climaxed the yearly Presidential Dinner held at Lagos Sheraton Hotel, Ikeja.

    Ojobo thanked NIPR for recognising the little contribution he had brought to the practice of PR through the NCC.

    He promised to do more to enhance a robust atmosphere for customers and the entire stakeholders in the telecoms ecosystem to derive optimum benefit for their investment.

    The NIPR chief said Ojobo has brought finesse and vitality to professionalism in his handling of issues in Nigeria’s fastest growing information communication technology (ICT) sector, commenting and communicating in everyday language in the public as matters arise.

    The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) Public Affairs Director, Mr. Tony Ojobo, has won the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) Presidential Award.

    The conferment of the prestigious award was communicated to Ojobo by NIPR’s President and Chairman of Council, Dr. Rotimi Oladele.

    Oladele  specifically said: “The prestigious award is given in recognition of your sterling leadership qualities, outstanding contributions towards the development of the public relations practice and support for industry advancement.”

    The award ceremony will climax the yearly Presidential Dinner billed for Sheraton Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos.

    Ojobo has brought finesse and vitality to professionalism in his day to day handling of issues in Nigeria’s fastest growing sector, the information communication technology (ICT) sector, commenting and communicating in everyday language in the public as matters arise.

    Only recently, Ojobo was honoured by the Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT), his alma mater, with an award of Excellence at a ceremony tagged: “Alumni Home coming and 32nd Anniversary” celebration of the Faculty of Management of the University.

     

    The board in its notification to Ojobo wrote: “We proudly took the decision to bestow the award on you in cognizance of your remarkable achievements in life, especially in your chosen career as a renowned technocrat and public servant, hence the award of excellence.”

    Enyimba have stated that they won’t condone indiscipline after the People’s Elephant sacked one of his long standing players, Mark Ojobo for indiscipline.

    The Media Officer of the Aba side, Farriel Allaputa told SportingLife that Ojobo has played his last game for the club after the club terminated his contract over indiscipline.

    Not much information was divulged to SportingLife on what Ojobo did but the attempt to speak with the player in question was met with no result .

    Ojobo’s last assignment with Enyimba was winning the seventh league title in the just concluded season and fetching another CAF Champions League ticket for the Aba side.

    Meanwhile Enyimba have added Kelly Kester, formerly of 3SC to the players they have signed in view of the next soccer season.

    Enyimba have also completed the signing of ex- Kano Pillars’ skipper, Theophilus Afelokhai, Dare Ojo of Kwara United and Ojo Mine of Warri Wolves.

    Ojobo shocked at red card

    Enyimba’s central defender, Markson Ojobo, has expressed shock at his controversial dismissal during Wednesday’s match day 37 clash at Sunshine Stars.

    Ojob was dimissed in the second half during an off-the-ball incident with an assistant referee.

    “I can’t explain why the referee sent me out. All I did was to complain that a Sunshine Stars player stepped on me,” Ojobo said to SuperSport.com.

    However, it is rumored that Ojobo used abusive language during his conversation with the assistant referee. The former Under-23 international was impresssive for the Elephants before his exit.

    Enyimba’s hope of a Nigerian double this term evaporated after goals in each half by Phillip Auta and Ebenezer Odunlami gave Sunshine a well deserved 2-0 victory.
