The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the free medical surgery would cover hernia, glaucoma, breast biopsy, burn excision/debridement and other diseases.

“We are attending to about 400 beneficiaries free of charge and you know how much it will cost in dollars or pounds if these people are to travel to U.S. or UK for such treatment.
“This is the reason we are calling on the state government to pay attention to the health sector to reduce the money being spent on medical treatment abroad,’’ Ipaye said.
In his speech, the Indian High Commissioner to Nigeria, Mr Jagdeep Kapoor, said that the free surgical mission would be carried out by seven medical doctors from India.
He said that Ogun was chosen by the Rotary International of Nigeria to benefit from the exercise.

He noted that Governor Ibikunle Amosun and his security aides who happened to be travelling to Lagos at the time, helped control the gridlock caused by the accident.
The security details also assisted in taking victims to the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital, Sagamu.
“The governor was on his way to Lagos when his convoy suddenly met the gridlock caused by the accident which occurred at the New Makun City along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway involving a truck and 18-seater commercial bus.

“The two victims who died instantly at the scene were equally taken to the morgue of the same hospital. Three others among the injured later died in the hospital.
“Our men who on ground at the scene of the accident said the downpour must have blurred the vision of the commercial bus, making him to rammed the bus into the truck from behind,” Akinbiyi said.
