A local government chairmanship aspirant, Oladipupo Okeyomi (aka Carry-Go), has distributed land certificates to 45 beneficiaries to mark the 12th Carry-Go Day of Change Agent Foundation International (CAFI).
Okeyomi, the Baba Aladura of Holy Fountain of Cherubim and Seraphim Church, Orimolade, District Headquarters, Agbado, Ijaiye, said his foundation has consistently been benevolent to the people.
The event coincided with the church’s annual love feast, providing a fun-filled atmosphere.
Okeyomi, a grassroot leader, said he is committed to giving hope to those less endowed.
According to the Ikare Akoko, Ondo State-born politician, his formative years began in the slums of Mushin, Lagos State.
Addressing the beneficiaries, he said: “I was once a quarry stone crusher and labourer, a bus conductor and bakery errand boy. I have paid my dues in the harsh terrain of life and I’m who I am today by the grace of God, who rewarded hard work and diligence. I saw success, and as one who knows where the shoe pinches, I‘ve made a resolve to give back to society. The CAF and CAFI-HOPE Empowerment Foundation have been helping the less-privileged, supporting members’ aspirations and promoting good governance.

“With members in the six Southwest states, people have been empowered with cash grants and working capital to enhance their trade for economic sustainability and survival.”

He stated that the annual Carry-Go Day has become a platform to reward members and well-wishers for their steadfastness and support. The eighth, ninth and 10th editions witnessed allocation of free land, of which over 180 members and non-members benefited. Among tools/equipment always distributed are welding machines, sewing machines, pepper grinders, hairdryers and agro-equipment for small scale farmers.
Okeyomi has also given indigent students in higher institutions in Southwest scholarship through his Carry-Go Scholarship Scheme, now in season seven.
Some of the beneficiaries lauded Okeyomi for the gesture.A beneficiary said: “Okeyomi is the leading aspirant for the chairmanship position of Ojokoro Local Development Area. He has the support of the majority of the people, whose feelings are overwhelming by his kind-heartedness.
“Being a loyal party stalwart, the leaders and members of All Progressives Congress (APC) across the seven wards have shown their unwavering commitment to see him emerging as the party’s flag bearer.”
